So... you don't want a cartoon, you want a commercial? *shrug* You do you, my dude.

Personally, I'm in agreement with the majority of the fandom that Energon is garbage. Easily the worst of the Unicron Trilogy, though I'll also admit I enjoy Cybertron more than a lot of folks... but that's mostly due to nostalgia. Animated and Beast Wars are where you go if you want a really great story.

Also, I don't really know that Energon had the best toy sales. It sounds to me like you mean Energon sold the toys TO YOU. Of course, I don't know what did sell the best because I don't really care about the toys.

2001 Robots in Disguise is a really fun show. It’s truly a love letter to G1 and 80’s style hand-drawn animation.

The show has good dialogue and voice-acting, and the humor actually works!

The human characters are actually likable. I like Koji and the girl in the little red sports car. They’re cute and funny.

Plus the intro and outro music and action sequences really get me pumped up, really cool.

I want those toys. Are they as good as they look in the cartoon?

But the bad guys are Beast Wars-based animal Predacons, not Decepticons. The Decepticons themselves are only a small subgroup to the main Predacon faction. That doesn't bother you?

As long as Megatron is in charge it’s all the same to me.

Robots in Disguise 2001 did beasts right. There was no doubt in my eyes that they were fully robotic with scanned Beast forms.

Beast Wars looked too organic. And Megatron looked nothing like his G1 form.

At least the Robots in Disguise 2001 Megatron had some resemblance to G1 Megatron.

I don’t like how fans give Beast Wars credit for bringing us the Predacons and animals forms.

G1 gave us the Predacons with Headstrong, Rampage, Tantrum, Divebomb, and Razorclaw. And they were much cooler because they could combine to form Predaking.

G1 gave us animals———Dinobots, Insecticons, Trypticon, and the rest of the ones in “Call of the Primitives”—————again way more cooler.

Beast Wars is more of a parallel universe story because Transformers live millions of years, if not indefinitely. They would not turn into Maximals in a mere thousand years.

They would always be Autobots and Decepticons from when the Quintessons created them.

But, both Gas Skunk and Dark Scream are furry, while Sky-Byte, Slapper, and Megatron are scaly. Gas Skunk's tail in beast mode even becomes his hair in robot mode.

All of them except Megatron are even made from Beast Wars toys.

Nobody does that. Everyone knows G1 had animal bots. Beast Wars just took it to the next level.

Where did you get that Beast Wars was set a 1000 years in the future from???

That origin was only in the G1 cartoon. No where else really.

The point of Energon is in the name. The Decepticons were going after Energon to bring Unicron back to life. The Autobots needed Energon to power and heal themselves and to defend against and fight the Decepticons. The battle for energy and Energon is G1 101; it’s the story we all know and love.

The Energon storyline is much more concrete and mature than Armada and Cybertron.

The Cyberkey concept is too abstract. The Key to Vector Sigma is more understandable.

The Mini-con storyline is too childish. Frenzy, Rumble, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ravage, Ramhorn, Ratbat, SteelJaw, Rewind, Eject are more realistic and make more sense.

Is it ok to hate Transformers Prime because it killed Transformers Animated?

Transformers Animated is just too good.

I know the toys come before the cartoon, and the cartoon characters are based off of and modeling the toy figures, so they can sell the toys.

So, where’s our Transformers Animated Omega Supreme. They must have a mold for it. Otherwise where did they get the cartoon design from?

For Animated and Prime it was the opposite. The cartoon models were made first, with the toys instead being based on the cartoon models. Though, Animated had the benefit of its toys and cartoon models each being made very close to each other, so any necessary changes could be made to either before the debut of either the toy of the cartoon model.

In the case of Animated Omega Supreme, his cartoon model was made with no toy in mind. As to where the design came from since there was no toy, the design came from the same place as nearly all of the Animated designs: From the imagination of series designer Derrick J. Wyatt.

Does the Omega Lock they’re looking for in Transformers Cybertron have anything to do with Omega Supreme?

I think AllNewSuperRobot mentioned some people on here despise the G1 Omega Supreme toy? Why is that?

There are Third-party companies up the Wazoo emulating the G1 Omega Supreme toy———Terminus Gigantus, Gabriel, Weichang———who knows maybe Hasbro or Takara will come out with an official version. A Transformers Animated Omega Supreme is probably not far behind.

It seems like it’s a great time to be an Omega Supreme fan.

The Decepticons in Transformers Robots in Disguise 2001 are bad-ass. It does not bother me that they’re just a faction of the Predacons because they are The Combaticons, the best and most epic combiner team in G1.

The Takara Reissue G1 Combaticons/Bruticus toy is more expensive than the G1 Predacons/Predaking Takara Reissue. Why is that?

I’ve watched a couple of episodes of Beast Machines. It has a lot of action like Energon. I like it. It’s very dark and mature like Energon too.

Black Arachnia is so sexy.

Can I expect an epic resolution to this series?

It was good to see Cory Burton back as Shockwave in Transformers Animated.

It also warmed my heart to see Metroplex and Fortress Maximus failing to take out Omega Supreme.

Omega Supreme is Cybertron’s ultimate weapon.

I like this:

I think you will too.

This is like the greatest Omega Supreme sequence of all time.

No wonder third parties are fighting over him.

Were you cheering as hard as I was when you saw Omega in action, kicking ass and wiping the floor with all the Decepticons?

What a payoff!

...Okay, so, I've talked about this a bunch before, and I'll say it again.

Transformers shows aren't exactly high-caliber art.

Even the best of them have their fare share of with blatant corporate raping and plotlines that defy logic. The three best Transformers cartoons are Prime, Beast Wars, and Animated. Prime is a good show because it deals with dark and "super-edgy" plotlines with good character development in Wheeljack, Ratchet, Dreadwing, and Smokescreen, menacing villains in Megatron and Soundwave, and fun characters like Knock Out and Starscream. It falls flat mid-season two because the writers were forced to shove their entire story into 15 episodes. Executives said "Beast Hunters is gonna make us a lot of money 'cause we're baked AF", and as a result there's this massive cluster of character and story arcs just dissipating into nothing for a handful of episodes, but after that it picks itself up again and the latter half of season two and the third season is pretty solid.

Beast Wars is a good show because it deals with dark and "super-edgy" plotlines with good character development in Dinobot, Depth-Charge, Blackarachnia and menacing villains in........uh.........Megatron. It falls flat in the third season with Transmetal II clutter, emphasizing an arc that goes LITERALLY NOWHERE, and some really...weird...cringe-y romance in between. Also there's a bunch of characters in Beast Wars that exist to just sort of be there and don't do anything remotely important, like Inferno, Quickstrike, Airrazor, or Scorponok. Some arcs just disappear into nothing by shear fact of "oh, the fans weren't into it just yet". Physics are inconsistent because some characters blow up one episode and show up later like nothing happened, while some characters blow up and they're actually dead. There's really childish slapstick throughout which doesn't seize to annoy. The rest of it's okay though.

Animated is a good show because it deals with safe and well-polished plotlines for the whole family to enjoy, good character development in Prowl and Ratchet, solid twists and turns, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. It fails to have real stakes because, like Beast Wars, the physics are real inconsistent with characters getting mangled for comedic effect and "sometimes they die when that happens". The Decepticons are not menacing, not a serious threat by any stretch of the imagination, and as such just sort of seem like an inconvenience rather than a force to be reckoned with. Arcs go nowhere due to the show getting cancelled, leaving characters like Lockdown or Blackarachnia to literally contribute nothing to the story. The animation can be distractedly choppy at times.

That's about it, though. The rest of the shows suck. The 1984 cartoon is absolute trash. Storytelling is devoid in place of selling a product. Characters show up out of nowhere and we're expected to pretend they were there the whole time, there's animation errors up the wazoo because each episode was crapped out on a five minute deadline and the story is bone-dead stupid, akin to the complexity of a Fast and Furious film. Beast Machines takes everything Beast Wars did and undoes it, leaving inconsistent characterization and storytelling from its predecessor in order to tell its own pretentious shlock. RID 2001 is vomit. Armada is semi-competent anime garbage, Energon is a disgrace to all forms of storytelling, Cybertron is a mess, RID 2015 is a plot-confused waste of time, and Rescue Bots takes no risks in its story thanks to its audience limitations. But all of this merit is off of the quality of each show's ability to tell a solid, fulfilling story. You seem more preoccupied with "awesomeness" and "badassery". I'm sorry, that's a really shallow way to consume art. You leave yourself vulnerable to digest pandering McDonald's-esque crap that doesn't challenge anyone. I recommend you take these shows by whatever intellectual merit they have rather than how many cool toys they're trying to sell, which unfortunately is the morale of a franchise made to sell toys.

The G1 cartoon needs to be included in any list because every other Transformers cartoon is derived from G1.

My top 5 list so far is:
1. G1
2. Animated
3. Robots in Disguise 2001
4. Energon
5. Beast Wars

I’ve been enjoying the Commandos/Ruination combiner team in Robots in Disguise 2001. Will they get as much exposure as the Combaticons/Bruticus did in the G1 cartoon? Is the toy the same as G1, just repainted? It’s cheaper so it’s more affordable than the Takara reissue.

I don’t believe Robots in Disguise 2001 is getting enough credit, especially for the great humor and the reimagining of the G1 Combaticons/Bruticus.

Hand-drawn animation is the best way to enjoy the Transformers.

The Commandos/Ruination get more exposure in RiD than the Combaticons/Bruticus got in G1. Ruination is better that Bruticus in almost every way. He's smarter, he's more tactically skilled, he's got two different configurations to suit his battle needs, he's got more weapons, and he's more disciplined. By comparison, Bruticus is just a big strong dummy.

Mega-Octane (Ruination's torso component) even once came up with his own plan to infiltrate the Autobots' secret hidden base, and which almost worked if not for Scourge's temper getting the better of him and ruining the plan right as it was about to succeed.

Are the cartoons the superior medium to get into Transformers, or am I missing out by not reading the comics and buying the toys.

I don’t like to read.

And the Transformers toys I want are too expensive and I don’t have the space for them.

I was thinking about getting the Commandos/Ruination combiner set since I like them in Robots in Disguise 2001. It’s much cheaper than the Takara Reissue Combaticons/Bruticus which are in their G1 colors.

Is the Commandos/Ruination combiner set inferior to the Combaticons/Bruticus Takara Reissue?

Will the Commandos/Ruination toy help me to get into Transformers at a much deeper level.

Some of the criticisms I’ve heard are that this combiner set has a lot of kibble, unused free-roaming parts going from Commandos to Ruination and vice versa. Also, I heard the robot modes are undesirable due to the small heads on the figures.

I like my G1 Omega Supreme toy because it has very little kibble. Almost all the parts can be utilized going from super robot to base mode and vice versa.

Will getting the Commandos/Ruination combiner toy set enhance and get me more into the 2001 Robots in Disguise cartoon?

My niece likes to come over for gaming/movie marathons, and recently (after seeing my literal piles of TF's) expressed an interest. So here's what I did (what we watched):
-G1 S1, MTMTE. Basis for G1 set.
-TFTM. For it's single cohesive story and stellar animation. Also for introducing Unicron and the Matrix.
-BW S1, cherry picking the story centric episodes.

She claimed to enjoy it all, and for that particular marathon (and another one) I think we've started S2 of BW. After completing BW, we'll see if she takes to BM, then I don't know :-?
