I recently got an Animated Lockdown for free somehow, and it made me curious about what good deals people have gotten.

I like it.

Personally, these two were phenomenal deals. I don't recall exactly, but both were 50 or 60 bucks CAD each.

Image

My e-Hobby Tigertrack was about 100 USD. A third of what he usually goes for.
(Redstreaker was a good price, but not a steal)

I've gotten so many "deals" in my time, those probably stand out because they're recent, but my most amazing find was most likely this:

Image

When I got it, the average asking price was 900ish (and it's now higher). I found it on eBay for something insane, like 200 shipped. I hit that button before I even had time to think, or check my bank account
I was expecting it to be a sham, but the seller shockingly came through. Strangely enough, he did jerk me around a bit. I exchanged many emails with him about the non-boxed figures from that set (namely Megatron) which he claimed he had and would sell to me for similar prices. Back and forth for weeks, and he eventually went awol. But I still had the box set for a nearly criminal price, so I can't complain too much 8-)

Many years ago, during the Beast Wars era, I naively sought to collect the entire set. I bought Tigerhawk for £30 on eBay (wait for it). Two days later in a random supermarket, stacked unknowingly in a quiet corner, sat Tigerhawk and Transmetal 2 Megatron... £5 each.

That day, collector sense activated :ic$: , I bought them both. Putting Mint-Boxed Tigerhawk into storage. Which was promptly lost about 5 years ago

I found an E-Bay auction for a G1 Optimus Prime, missing a few bits but had his box and insert. The seller had listed it under the completely wrong section.

Ended up paying about $25AUD for it (with postage). I even had the missing bits that I got with other junker lots, making him 100% MIB.

2 bucks for CW Leader Class Starscream. Was missing his accessories and I had to take out a busted windshield. No big deal for someone like me that likes to customize and repair stuff. I'll eventually find some accessories for him.

25 cents for energon sharkticon at a Kohl's a very long time ago, he is a cherished figure of mine, and something of a treasure, owing to kohls' tendency to gouge toy prices a little

That is a really good figure. I'm happy with the Prime Wars stuff, but I do miss the heft, paint, and novelty of the Energon toys.

I bought a box of 'parts' and 'broken' TFs at a comic con last year for $20, and was happy to find almost everything in it was simply mistransformed or disassembled Unicron Trilogy figures - Armada Thrust, Energon Landquake, Terrorcons, etc.

Fortress Maximus (Titans Return) for about half price brand new. That was great.

I got an original Soundwave from the 1980's for a couple of dollars at an op shop (what we call a good will or thrift store in Australia) it had no weapons or cassettes, it had scratches but was still in one piece.

Recently managed to pick up a Fansproject WB-001 Defender (Springer) for less than £15.

My first 3rd party transformer and (now I have finally worked out how to transform the arms) it is bloody marvellous!

I've told the story before plenty, but a SDCC 2015 exclusive Devastator for the cost of "$0.01 plus a Legends Tailgate" due to a HTS glitch on their relaunch day is probably not something I'll be able to top.

Come to think of it I did get a transformers prime hotshot for a buck. The fig was covered in dust but just fine, I assume they bumped it down in price because not many ppl have the patience to clean dust out of so many moving parts. Canned air and a little elbow grease did the trick just fine.

Sounds like it was definitely worth it. Those TFA toys are well made.

Back when i was a kid and lived in Denmark and we were browsing a street fleamarket and i found a "2 for 1" deal on G1 Nautilator and G1 Seawing (loose with accessories) for a measly 20 Danish Kroner which is approximately 3 bucks in US Dollars.

Unfortunately i don't have them anymore :-(

I got a Cybertron Primus figure for 25 cents from my neighbors during their garage sale. They didn't have a clue what it was, (it was in it's cybertron mode), but I knew exactly what it was, so I instantly bought it without thinking. (He wasn't missing any pieces - the box doesn't count.) :KREMZEEK:

Dang, I can't even get a pack of nabs from the snack machine for that. Nice!

I feel like the $85 I paid for Unicron of Light would have to be my best deal ever.

either that or the $260 I paid for G1 Jetfire, Doubledealer, Grotusque, Abominus, and Astrotrain, all complete minus 3 missing guns on Abominus for the indivuals

My wife and I were hitting up one of our dinky local thrift stores just tooling around one Saturday a few years back. We get a paperback and a lamp or whatever and go up to check out and the clerk leans over and I see behind her...wait, what's....is that...."Excuse me Miss? Behind you, that toy in the bin, is that for sale?" She checks and she sees a price tag - "Yes I guess so let's see it's $15.00. Wow, it's pretty big not a bad deal" She says, having no idea that I'm about to get a mint condition out of the box but complete with all guns and Scamper Hasbro Metroplex with separate sticker sheet....for $15.00. That was indeed a fine day :D

Holy Cow! That's an awesome deal! Congrats on the find.

My best find was geting 5 giant tubs filled with extremely rare figures, including Collector's Club and Botcon figures, along with the Hasbro Masterpiece Soundwave and MP10 for 20$ at a fair.

The real kicker is that the seller was a dad who was punishing his son like this
