A-Ha! I have found the place!

Nice Rattrap! I'm a fan because my Mom hates mice and rats, so I leave him in rat mode for her to find and it scares her to death!

Also, the very first post in this thread was on my birthday

Hey D!

For some reason I'm having trouble ripping Rattrap open & letting him loose -- I certainly want to enjoy the figure and get him in some pics with my small handful of Beasts (Optimal, Snarl, Blackarachnia)....not to mention the Pretender Beasts!
IMG_8881.JPG
I'm loving Beast Wars. I thought I was almost done with season 1, but that was just the first disc (lol). I just watched ep11, "A Better Mousetrap".

I had no idea Rattrap would be a smelly bot -- must be a "perk" of the beast form! And I gotta admit watching this makes me more interested in dat MP Dinobot as well.... :MAXIMAL:

January 28th is your birthday? Happy early Birthday! I just hit the big four-oh on the 20th, myself.

I'll hit the 2-3 this coming January! Beast Wars is a great show, I loved the maximals and the predacons alike, though Dinobot and Silverbolt stand out to me

The early twenties are a great time, D!

Watching through Beast Wars, I noticed the episodes are not completely in order of their original air date. That kinda sucks if they need to be sequential.

I like Megatron, but the rest of the Predacons haven't endeared themselves to me nearly as quickly as all the Maximals. Dinobot and Primal are easily favorites, but there's still plenty of episodes to watch!

They aren't? I didn't notice... I don't think it's terribly important, or that they're so out of order that it matters. I know Season 2 and 3 are in order though so don't worry about that.

The Predacon crew gets more interesting in Season 2, as their contributions become more important. I never did like Scorponok though, super dull. Terrorsaur was my boy though, a great call-back to Starscream ;)

Hey Shaj -- the Predacons are growing on me. They're getting more development, and I absolutely see Starscream in Terrorsaur (love that!). Four more episodes and it's on to season 2. :)

TR Overlord and Misfire showed up yesterday! Overlord isn't for me, so pics on him after Xmas; Misfire looks as good as advertised. Of all the wave5ers, he was the one I absolutely had to have.

I used to love shoot-em-ups (SHMUPS!). Vertical, side-scrolling, it didn't matter -- it was the rush of flying through a bulletstorm hell, unscathed, towards the high score that had me hooked.

I got my haircut this afternoon, then stopped by at my non-favorite vintage store up the street. He must have recently gotten more stock in, as I eventually left with $100 less.

First Aid and Black & White Leo
I ended up with Beastformer White Leo ($20) & G1 First Aid ($25) -- White Leo (being who Daburu, the Titan Master for Twinferno, paid homage to) would have been enough...but I've been hunting for First Aid quite awhile.

But then I noticed he reduced the price on G1 Pretender ROADGRABBER! So for $52 (about $10 more than I wanted to pay), I finally picked up my first Pretender Vehicle.

Action/Titan Master Blaster Returns IV

My favorite Blaster is the portrayal by Marvel comics. He could have had a few more "fun" moments like his G1 cartoon counterpart (except maybe at the Blitz on Autobot City), but it was his morose character that was so appealing in the first place.

Why haven't I played any of the 3D successors to Konami's Castlevania?
IMG_9251.JPG
I still remember the first game very fondly in the arcades, and then on the NES. It was an instant classic for me, as I've always enjoyed ghouls, ghosts & goblins, on the big & little screen.
IMG_9226.JPG
My next love was Super Castlevania IV, then Symphony of the Night.
IMG_9227.JPG
What Symphony of the Night did right was making Dracula's castle a giant maze of secrets, twists & turns. It also had wonderful BGM, adding to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, all of this greatness did not seem to translate very well for Konami in 3D.
IMG_9229.JPG
But then, From Software figured it out with Demon's Souls. Dark, creepy and highly atmospheric, this was a hardcore, 3D action game -- and the difficulty was as as try-and-die (and die s'more) as the original Castlevania.
IMG_9239.JPG
'Trap 'n' Slash
Set in a seemless world with varying environments strewn across the horizon, the possibilities felt as vast as the armaments and customizable options available for your cursed avatar.
IMG_9235.JPG
What I loved most about the game and its spiritual successor series Dark Souls (and don't forget BLOODBORNE!), was that immersive experience of exploring a giant, dangerous maze of intertwining, dark-fantasy elements/settings, brutal difficulty, and GIANT BOSSES.
IMG_9236.JPG
IMG_9242.JPG
IMG_9253.JPG
It also offered co-op and PvP, adding to the fun.

I know this s2 look wasn't the most popular and now know why -- but I think his PotP incarnation should be a fun figure to pose & play with. ;)

Seeing the Fuzors introduced, they're as atrocious as I remember -- but the nicknames they're given by their comrades is amusing. Especially if Rattrap is involved.

The Predacons are definitely coming into their own! Tarantulas is excellent as an evil mad scientist, bent on overthrowing Megatron -- and Most Likely to Succeed when compared to Terrorsaur.

Blackarachnia is great with her scheming, and interactions between the two spiders is always entertaining.

Inferno is hilarious with his messed up mind and psycho-streak -- for the Colony & My Queen! He's the perfect Predacon enforcer.

Waspinator is always a laugh -- anything he says, just about, and certainly how much he gets all the slapstick comedy relief.

The Beast-Laid
The CG has held up pretty well, all things considered. The backgrounds are crap but who cares when the bots themselves look sharp; I like seeing their transformations as well, especially if they look like their actual toys (wtf Blackarachnia lol). And the voice-acting!
IMG_9261.JPG
All great things -- even if the budget wasn't the biggest, this ultimately made the series better in allowing them to focus on a smaller cast.

I'm enjoying the show quite a bit, and looking forward to PotP Primal even more now.

I also want to hunt down some of the s1 BW figures....it should be cheaper than my PretenderQuest was!

Unless I want them MPs. :MAXIMAL:

Dude! Go for the originals. They will be far cheaper than the MPs (and Pretenders for that matter).
I still think the BW toys are some of the best TFs ever made. They are strange, but you've proven that you are in to strange.
I really think you would appreciate the older toys.

Glad you are liking the show. ;)^
It is one of the only pieces of TF fiction I've ever really enjoyed.

I can dig ALL THE ALT MODES now!

O YISS
But I'm not so sure about any Fuzors just yet, Cobocop. They might still be too much for me. ;)

When I bought Rattrap, I kinda wanted his BW original incarnation. The one I got has been lots of fun, though, and as a result I won't hunt for another.

I also really dig the original BW Optimal Optimus, but I think the version of Primal I want most is his original, s1 look -- the PotP Leader should satisfy that itch!

You're totally right about prices -- I was in the runnings for a complete G1 Stranglehold and G1 Bludgeon yesterday. They both sold for $76.99 and $100, respectively, in the last 50 seconds of each auction.

Bludgeon was almost complete -- except for missing his iconic shell itself! I was willing to pay ~$45 for Stranglehold, and maybe $60 for that Bludgeon lot....but prices keep climbing.

I think I've made peace with myself and consider Bludgeon a humanoid (as opposed to kaiju!), so his Prime Master will be perfect for scale. ;)

So back to Beast Wars! Who would you recommend? And would you say their BW originals or the Generations incarnations? I'd appreciate any thoughts on them.

Oh man! It would probably be easier to list the ones I wouldn't recommend.
I will say, as much as I like the OG Rhinox toy for his pure weirdness, the Gen toy is a better rep of his show self (never a criteria for me though). He is a bit wiggly, but a good fun figure. Rat Trap is good too, but I think I like the TM one you have a bit better.
Also I prefer the OG Waspinator to the Gen one. Charm? Nostalgia? Dope ass alternative head.

OK, so I'll keep it brief, 'cause I gotta get some breakfast on the table for these kids, but here's a short list of some of my favorite BW toys. In no particular order from a strictly "based on a great toy" perspective.

Wow! I hate to say this, but Seibsie's gallery and the poses he's in, kinda don't do this toy justice. :(

Dinobot

Inferno

TM2 Megatron

Beast Machines, Black Arachnia

Rampage

Airazor

Buzzclaw

Tigerhawk - One of my all time favs

Ramulus

I could just keep going, but...

Also delving deeper. there's Beast Wars Neo, which was mostly a Takara thing, but IMO the very best BW toys we got.
Some molds did get reappropriated into the domestic line.

Killer Punch

Image
Longrack

Image
Stampy

Bod, I could keep going all day, but I gotta stop.
I love the Beast Era. It was one of the best lines.

Holy iron shirt, Beast Wars Neo!?
Love the picks & pics, K-K-Killer Cobo -- thank you!

Primal looks just Prime -- the MP streamlines the look, but I could be just as happy with that version. I'll wait for the PotP figure and see where it lands...

That Inferno looks like a perfect adaptation -- especially dem teefs.

I dig that Dinobot, Airazor, Rampage, etc., too -- especially the colors and interesting bot/alt modes.

If Tigerhawk qualifies as a Fuzor, then they definitely did it right! Killer Punch & Ramulus look very bad ass.

I think I need Stampy. ;)
