Sigh. Okay, I was all behind the Animated theme, but unless they've retooled these figures so they actually form Menasor (and yes, I know what the odds are...), I'm officially disappointed. I can understand the fallout from that seeker set making them wary of doing a bunch of characters from the show that would complete a set started at general retail. Hasbro may have even mandated they focus on something neat but unique enough that fans could take it or leave it, as there was still that listing for Animated Thundercracker and Mudbuster Bulkhead on their site a few months back (or has that been stated to be totally meaningless?). However, considering how many posters yesterday were saying they wouldn't want any sort of Animated set, in this case I'm not sure demand would've outpaced supply more than for any other Botcon set. Isn't Animated just sort of a niche TF interest now?

Regardless, I still have high hopes for this set. And if all else fails...there's still a good chance that company doing TFA knock-offs will come through for us with repainted voyager Thundercracker and Ramjet, and maybe a Slipstream made from an enlarged Activator or Legends mold.

There, I said it, and until we get word of some official Starscream clones, I feel no shame about endorsing KOs of characters that HasTak and FunPub have not stated interest in producing.

I dare to ask if these guys will actually combine. If not- I'm sure that they will look good, but to me it defeats the purpose of what they truly are- Combiners. So I doubt I will shell out the cash (in which I'm sure they will be expensive in the secondary. I won't be able to make it to Pasadena) For them..... But if they do (wishful thinking, of course) I may sell someone's soul to get them......

What a strange choice for a repaint, Jazz --> Dead End. Although the head kinda works.... well, I don't know about that mustache. Strange stuff.

I highly doubt they'll combine, much less beyond the "cars slapped onto MotorMaster's limbs" approach.

I think my buddy Randy Jackson wants to comment on this;

Randy Jackson wrote:Alright y'all, that mustache of yours? Tight, dawg! Congrats, you're getting a yes from me, which means you're going to Hollywood!

Well said Randy, well said. If only Simon were here to give us even more entertainment...

I don't think they'll use Blurr for Drag Strip. Remember they've already used that mold for Cheetor. Not only are they both yellow, but FunPub really doesn't like reusing the same mold.

I believe that Wreck Gar will be Motormaster. Truck alt mode and a blocky head

other limbs are Meh.

Lockdown, Rodimus, not that many cars to choose from.

Might need this!

You're forgetting Shattered Glass Jazz and Ricochet, G2 Brakedown and Punch/Counterpunch, Games of Deception Dirge and G2 Ramjet, Decent into Evil Ironhide and Ratchet. There were also repeats of other figures I can't think of at the moment.

Thank Primus it's not a Transformers Animated "Shattered Glass" theme, though I like the idea of them giving us Stunticons in the theme of Transformers Animated. Here's to another Breakdown figure ... the first in G1 colors!

Don't forget, that's just five figures. Botcon usually puts out around ten, give or take.

I still like to theorize who else could be made.
Wasp (Bumblebee mold)
Elita-1 (Arcee mold)
Blaster (Soundwave mold)
Hound (Swindle mold)

I know some people have suggested Samurai Prowl for Bludgeon, but I think Blitzwing would be a good choice too. He turns into a tank, and because of the face switching gimming, a remolded head could give both a robot face and a skull face.

I don't know about that. Maybe. I don't know if it was quite as unpopular as a lot of the haters would like to believe. The cartoon itself was quite UNDER rated. The figures were too, in my opinion. I also believe that anybody who actually gave the series and the figures a fair shake grew to like them.

I am a fan of both, as you can tell. However, I agree with you and the majority. If the figures aren't re-tooled to make Menasor (and from these photos it doesn't look like they will be) then whats the point? Of the many things I liked about the Animated line is that it WASN'T littered with re-paints that never actually appeared on-screen, ala Movieverse line. The novelty of making an animated combiner is the REAL selling point. Otherwise, they are just a bunch of re-paints strictly for the sake of re-painting and charging a hefty sum.

Quite frankly, when Botcon gets closer and screen shots of the final products surface, I could round up the figures and repaint them myself for a lot cheaper than the cost of going to Botcon AND buying them. Plus, I'd bet a dollar that reprolabels will make decals of the Stunticon Decepticon logo that I would be able to get to make my potential repaints good enough for me.

I won't do any of that, of course. However, my point is made. Without Menasor, this set is aimed squarely at the collect-everything, gotta-have-it suckers out there will would sell an organ for a bunch of scrap figures. Not I, says me.

I keep swapping sides on this "NO NOT ANIMATED!" then "YEAH STUNITCONS!!" I might as well buy my tickets and gripe later, the potential for more awesomeness is too great.

And I'm hopin for magnus repainted as MotorMaster. I know there is no chance of combining, but wouldn't it be epic!?!

I totally see voyager prime as motormaster. dont see them using magnus w/o stripping the electronics and a new head. I see blurr as dragstrip as well even though club members are gettin the chance to order animated Transtech cheetor. i could see rodimus being used for wildrider. don't really see breakdown coming from lockdown though

"Give Me Fuel, Give Me Fire, Give Me That Which I Desire" Hell YEAH!!! Any set that uses Metallica song lyrics for a motto, I'm all for it! When it was just that first pic I was looking at I was thinking "Meh...might not suck" but to scroll down and see the whole thing and read that motto...they most certainly have my attention. The concept excites me and the drawings look great so I'm really hoping they can pull off the final execution of this and have the actual figures combine well and not look horribly out of proportion. I'm more excited about this set than any of the DotM toys even though I won't have a chance of ever laying my hands on this thing.

Ok when I heard the box set would be themed with animated molds I groaned a bit. I was never an animated collector though I liked the show I didn't like the cartoony figures (Lugnut) this will be my first botcon and I wanted to go into it with a box of classic molds. However the paint and the mustache alone just changed my whole opinion on this box. Looking forward to the other molds now!!!!!

"Hound (Swindle mold)"

Uh-oh, if they did that I'd have to get it.

I'm totally a cherry picker. I'm not much or sets, but I do like how dead end looks, though I doubt I'll like the whole set.

I'm not into Animated, as I never saw the cartoon (hadn't quite gotten back into Transformers back then) and I didn't like the design style, so I won't be getting the set this year.

Still, I think it's a really cool idea to do a full team as the box set like this.
