That's TFA Wreck-Gar digitally recolored in Motormaster like colors with the actual BotCon Motormaster head photoshopped the body.

thanks guys.
how did i not think of that???
also, what i was saying about the head, is how in g1 to get motormaster into menasor mode you put a hlmet on his head(IIRC), and that head loooks like it could be designed for hat, hence the block shape and non-molded face.

TBH, my issue with Motormaster here is actually not the mold, it's the face. I'm not going 'bwaaaah it's fugly', simply that in my mind aesthetically it doesn't seem to match the TFA look.

Then again, I'm not real crazy about the mustache the other Stunty based on Jazz has (sorry, it's super early here and I am laaaazy).

However.

They're stunticons. *squee*

They're TFA. *squee*

And...Drag Strip. I LOVE the idea of femme Drag Strip so hard you could make diamonds out of it. I know it was probably a 'well, frag, we're running out of molds to recycle' but still.

HK, also glad the female wasn't Breakdown, which would have set my feminazi rage on overdrive.

I have to say that I, for one, find this year's set to be the most complete and visually-appealing in recent memory. I love the mould choices - even though most differred to my personal recommendations for the characters, I've grown to love all of them. If anyone wants to sell a set on to me, I'm a more-than-willing buyer!

Plus, MM as a binman - WTF? :D

Bulkhead would be good if he wasn't as... fat. I agree that Wreck Gar without the forks would have been a much better option than using Optimus Prime.

Adn using Wreck Gar just looks better. Optimus has all these weird triangle shapes all over his body, and then you slap on a square head? No!

Yay they put a box on top of Voyager Prime's mold and called it Motormaster...... err..

Yeah I know Motormaster had a boxy head, but the style of the head on this figure just doesn't match the shape and form of the body they are using. It almost would have been better to use the Wreck-gar's dump truck instead of voyager Prime's body. At least then the head style would have matched the body.

Plus the dump truck is a much rarer mold.

Of course! When you put it like that, the fact that in G1 they were both short-nosed truck cabs with big grey trailers that both had dirty great stripes and faction symbols in almost exactly the same place seems entirely redundant... :P

I don't really like this figure. (Motormaster) I find it to be disappointing in both mold choice and execution.

I don't have too much more to say on the matter except that I think the creative teams for the convention need to keep more on the track of original content.

SG was easy, but effective creative content. It made a new world and reimagined characters. Good collector bait all around.

2009 Wing of Honor had some good original characters and a good premise, but seems to have been limited in mold choice. I like this set more and more looking back in retrospect (much like 2005's set)

2010 G2 Redux was quite good. While a simple reimagining of G2 stuff, like in the way that the SG set used establish characters, it went further by fleshing out the Earth bound G2 world.

Now, 2011's set is a straight plug of G1 characters into Animated with the odd ball change to Dragstrip. It feels more like, "What we were able to do with what we had." rather than the creative streak that had been running for the past few years. I like Wyatt's work and had these been retail toys, I think they would all be exceptional. However, I don't think that Wyatt's inclusion in the creative process (though necessary in the realm of Animated toys) automatically makes the theme a good theme for a BotCon. DJW's inclusion in the process does lend legitmacy to the characters etc, because if he wasn't there, people would NOT buy into these. I think that's good for the set. That being said, despite his efforts, I still feel that the set doesn't carry the same brilliance that previous year's toys held.

Really? People can't express their opinion? If they don't like the figures, they can say why. If their reasoning is that they think Motormaster's head looks terrible, they are totally allowed to say it.

I am not obligated to like everything the club produces just because the club produced it. There's a lot of money involved in going to BotCon and I am allowed to have an opinion. I am allowed, as is Seibertron, and Counterpunch, and countless others, to dislike mold choices because they lack originality or were only used because they were available.

Wow. For once I actually find myself on the opposite side of almost all of what you said, which, of course, is completely allowed at Seibertron.com. :) Actually, for me, I would take your reasoning about this year's set and the previous years' sets and flip them. I like that the Animated set this year adds to a continuity some characters we would not get otherwise and doesn't try to reinvent the Animated wheel--no shattered universe, no parallel dimensions, no past/present/future stuff to keep straight. Just more figures in a line. Repaints? Fine, they always are. The last set I actually liked (and bought) was the Games of Deception set, for obvious reasons, but also because it continued to flesh out a line, not create something new to try to figure out or justify with what we already had (although I did buy SG Rodimus because I'm a sucker for evil twin stuff). The other sets that followed were just meh for me, as I have no interest in the storylines they created or followed. Just my opinion, of course.

So, I'll gladly take this year's set off of someone's hands if I end up not shelling out right away for the non-attending package. I like Animated anyway, and, even though I share many opinions on here about the choice over Motormaster, a complete set of Animated Stunticons appeals to me.

I can see where you're coming from, I mean, it's how I felt in regards to the 2007 set when it came out. What's interesting is that the fan outrage isn't present in what are almost exactly the same circumstances. People were pissed that core characters were exclusives in 2007 and now in 2011 it's happening again and no one minds at all.

I'm not passing judgement on that, I just think it's weird.

I would've liked to have seen this option explored as well over another black Optimus Prime repaint/remold. Just not that exciting in my opinion.

I agree. We've got enough repaints of this mold already. what would have been wrong with a slight remold of the trailer since Motor Master was never a cab but a full semi/trailer. Unlike Prime/convoy that is the cab, Motormaster is both which has been that way since G1. Logically Wreck Gar makes sense, but it's easier to use prime and just do a head swap.

As always it's opinion and someone will like the set and people will want the set once they realize someone else wants it.

To be fair, these core characters, while certainly G1 Canon, were not Animate Canon until the set was made. The TF:A universe was awesome and would still be awesome had we never known about Motormaster and his ilk existing in some form or another in it.

The 2007 set featured three figures that were G1 Canon in a line of figures that were G1 Redux, hence the fanrage.

As I see it, those who like TF:A can be perfectly happy never owning this set as none of the characters were in the cartoon. Seeker collectors on the other hand had to shell through their noses if they couldn't make it to the '07 convention to complete their beloved iconic G1 team of seekers.

Or maybe TF:A collectors are a kmore mellow group of people?

It's not weird at all. It's the difference between the characters selected and the current status of the primary line these figures are associated with.

2007's set came out just 6 to 9 months of when the very first Classics figures hit the shelves. Hasbro didn't have their Classics line planned out when BotCon 2007 was being planned. It was a gamble.

2011's set is coming out 3.5 years after the debut of TFA cartoon, over 3 years after debut of the TFA toys. Hasbro's been done with the line for 2 years aside from a few exclusives here and there and a few Activators. Even Takara Tomy is done with the TFA line. These are just bonus figures to a line that's been put to rest (unfortunately too early in my book).

The animated series was a gamble in its own. It took on a cult following almost IMO. I never really liked it nor did I hate it, although i did hate that stupid spinning transformation sequence :???: While the wreck gar mold would have been more fitting,I think we all knew that the prime moold was gonna be used. Judging by how excited most collectors are about Generations, RTS and United pretty often, I'd say.
