Considering concept art in the Allspark Almanac, I think it's safe to say that Motor master will be a black repaint of Optimus.

Yes! This could be very cool. Looking forward to seeing what new heads we'll get.

I'm going to have to pick this set up for sure.

Personally, i'd like to see the Lockdown mold used for Wildrider and the Rodimus mold used for Breakdown...

From the looks of dead end hasbros being lazy this botcon so i doubt they'll be any retools so because of that i say the molds to be used will be cybertron prime, hot rod, lockdown & blurr. As for whos who this is my prediction:

Cybertron Prime=Motormaster

Lockdown=Wildrider

Blurr=Dragstrip

Hot Rod=Breakdown

i would go with wreckgar as motor master but that would take way to much retooling to pull off.

This is good news. I am planning on attending, and I do like the Animated line a lot. Bring on the rest of them!

Not sure if I like it yet.... but it's definitely a surprise. Stunticons? Awesome.

I see the fandom hasn't changed at all since I left. We're still subject to basing our entire opinion based off of one picture.

I'm waiting until I see more of the set before I make a call.

I will admit that I'm not a fan of Animated, but I did give it an honest effort to try to like it. I watched an enjoyed most of the shows and bought quite a few of the toys. The fact that Animated is entering Botcon does not surprise me. I figured it was only going to be a matter of time.

What does surprise me is that from the sounds of it, they are going to put an entire combiner team into a box set. If memory serves correctly, we have never had a box set with a unified allegiance. This is a Botcon first.

My question now is are they going to remold some head or are they going to surprise us by pulling a FansProject and making some combiner components for them to combine. I highly doubt they'll go that route, but it would be a unique way of redifining the term exclusive.

However, even if they don't make combiner components for them, I have $50 that says some 3rd party producer is going to do it and make it readily available for the masses to purchase.

I'm reasonably sure that Botcon is going to have all Animated molds. If I remember hearing right, one of the 2011 souvenir sets is going to have a Shattered Glass theme.

2007 Games of Deception was all Decepticons.

I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing that out. I actually feel really dumb right now.

I'm trying to see if I can go to Botcon this year and I'm not sure if I'll have the funds to do it. It's going to depend on what happens to my financial situation soon.

If anything I might try for Iacon, but I'd like to get the entire set and enjoy some time in the dealer room.

It would be insane to make a set of combiners that don't combine, but if they don't let's hope fans project or another 3rd party hooks up with a appendage kit.

No need to feel dumb. There's too much stuff to remember these days. You could just as easily say that Mirage being the attendee toy means that the 2007 set had an Autobot in it. ;)

So, I may not go at all this year.

Weighing the balance:

Pro going:
+Friends and good times +10pts
+Could offput the cost by selling the set +1pts

Con going:
-California again -3pts
-EXPENSIVE flights this year -3pts
-Set of toys I have no interest in -5pts
-Nothing to hunt for in the dealer room -1pts (not a real problem I suppose, but still...)

So, my completely arbitrary point system sees going to the convention down by a point. I've been going the past four years and one thing that's nagging at me is the thought of what I might do with all that freed up income. I suppose we will see.

Anyone that really wants me to come out to the convention, please make your feelings known with a photoshopped picture displaying such feelings. Thank you.

They will not combine.

The set idea is that the Stunticons are infiltrating the Autobot base/society/planet by taking on their forms. This is probably pre any combiner tech.

They will not combine.

I am not going to Botcon. If someone goes and wants to sell me their set, I will buy it.

Well I for one am surprised with this set. Anyone that knows me, knows I don't collect Animated toys. Not because I don't like them, only because I didn't want to get into a new toyline cause I wanted to focus mainly on Classics/Generations. I was really hoping for the set to NOT be animated, but since the reveal last nite, I'm starting to come around. Alwasy been a Stunticon fan since the G1 days and I still am. IDK if we will ever get full Stunticons for Clssc/Gen but even the Animated versions of these guys are really appealing to me. I also am NOT a collector for value, but if I am going to Botcon this year, I'm liking the potential value of this set. So I may be doing a 180 on my opinion on the set. The jury is still out though, the complete set I hope will "Wow" me. I'm hoping for a full on Stunticon set as the convention set.

Wow, that really came out of left field  I'm quite shocked. I'll have to give it some serious thought, despite the fact they don't combine (Combiners are a toy designer's nightmare, people!), and the fact I can't go

Don't worry about heads, I'm fairly certain we'll get at least 4 new ones among the boxset and Souvenirs ;)

btw The Blurr mold is currently in use for the Animated Transtech Cheetor exclusive, wouldn't that exclude him from the list of possible molds?

Since when does Counterpuch NOT have stuff to buy in the dealer room? There's got to be some minicons or something that you'd want.

The big reason why I want to go to Botcon is for the Sunday sales. I missed them in 2009 and I really want a chance to fill out my AEC stuff.

I'm still waiting to see the other figures in this set, but for now, I want it. I'm a fan of unique pieces and this is unique enough for me to want it.

Then again... I'm prone to buying just about anything with a TF logo on it. That's why my collection literally has something from every line in it.

Probably...

My wish list:

Motormaster = Ultra Magnus, new head
Drag Strip = Lockdown, new head
Breakdown = ?? (I could see Sentinel Prime with a new head, Blurr, but Cheetor may kill that, or Arcee, but not sure)
Wildrider = Rodimus

Souvenirs:
Chromia and Paradron Medic from Arcee
BotCon '01 Arcee Black Arachnia

Overcharge from Blitzwing

Darkwing and Dreadwind from Jetfire/Jetstorm

Cykill from Oil Slick

Oh. My. God. I love Animated and I love the Stunticons. It's like Fun Pub are dangling the universe in front of me.
I hate that I can't get to BotCon yet - the earliest will be 2012. All of the toys that come out (especially Shattered Glass, G2 Redux, and this) are awesome, and the entire event sounds like a festival dedicated to awesomeness. Why can't BotCon migrate over to England every now and then?

I'll wait until the full line-up of convention figs is available before I decide what to purchase (if anything), but I am quite interested with this main set. I just started collecting Animated this past year (I know, way to be late) but I'm quite pleased with the figs I've found. They don't mesh as well with Classics figs as I'd hope (although Wreck-Gar and Grimlock are probably staying in my Classics collection), but I've come to appreciate their uniqueness. This year will (hopefully) be my first Botcon ever, so here's hoping to a great line-up with which I can spend gross amounts of money on ;)^
