TM Waspy was predominately black, gold, and green with red and blue as secondary colors. This one is predominately red with black and blue as secondary colors and no green or gold.Inaction wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The red Waspy's thought to be a Warudaros homage.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:primalxconvoy wrote:My, my, what's this? I thought that was more of a deco based on the first Transmetal Wasp from '98?

The main body and all its core aspects are black, though, with red only being on extended parts. This new figure is primarily red-bodied.primalxconvoy wrote:For me, the main colour for TM Waspy is red:

What limitations? The Generations mold's bug legs and antennae are on the same sprue, and the robot forearms can seemingly be whatever color they want to be, so those parts could have easily been red. The bug head and body share a sprue, so those could have been black. And the inner body plastic and shoulders could have also been black. The bug abdomen could have been gold (chrome isn't necessary, but these days the Club is using more and more chrome). And the wings could have been green. Not to mention the Club's penchant for elaborate paint apps. If they wanted to make a homage to the Transmetal, there was very little in their way to have stopped them from doing so.primalxconvoy wrote:@Sabrblade
I think it's just case of a best fit, due to the limitations of the paint maps, and the inability to add chrome on just one of several toys (too expensive).

The current theory is that these (or at least the red one) are Waruder mechs operated by pilots made from the Legends Chop Shop mold, with the red one based specifically on the deco of the Diaclone Warudaros figure.MaverickPrime wrote:Huh, these look nice! I wonder what the red one is homaging

All four of them are without their robot mode heads, suggesting a head remold for each of them.Rated X wrote:Such a shame they didnt retool the head and make him Venom. We got the other three, and it would be nice to finally finish the set with Venom.

It's just, why would they make so faithfully accurate homages to two other Transmetal mold decos that are much more obscure, and yet do so unfaithful a homage to the Transmetal mold deco that many more people remember far more prominently? It just seems like it would be such a disservice to the original Transmetal deco if that's what it was supposed to homage.ScottyP wrote:Inaction wrote:I thought that was more of a deco based on the first Transmetal Wasp from '98?
That was my immediate thought and I think it's being over-thought by others. Is the execution good? Nope, but these may not be final decos if they're random leaks, and that seemed like the obvious inspiration.

The leftmost one is based on Fox Kids Transmetal Waspinator (thus making him a dead ringer for Shattered Glass Waspinator).
The second-left one is based on the unreleased Universe (2003) "Halloween Horrorcon Value Pack" Waspinator.
The two on the right, however, have decos that aren't as obvious.
