Yes, we are gonna sell out of some, if not all the items available at BotCon.
While I don't doubt the second statement, the first one has me a little concerned if the Golden Ticket people all buy up 3x the limit they can buy of the centerpiece figure on the first day.
I dunno, we're still 2 moths out, and they're packaged in bags, I guess if they notice people are being scalping douches/buying for friends, they could theoretically crank out some more
That seems implausible. Shipping costs alone would make that a fools errand.
Unless they were packed in a box and brought to botcon with one of the staff... I'm just saying it's possible, plus, how will bbts and the like factor into that number? Or do they get shipments separately, directly from funpub/their factories?

Firstly, come one Pete, dont you know the official Botcon forums are on Seibertron ?
Secondly, there are only 100 Golden Tickets, so that still leaves at least 700 of that Megatron toy. Also, this being a leder class toy, the Botcon price will be between 70-100$ for it, which will deter some people.

That mold is a voyager class at best, a parts-intensive one, yes, but a voyager through and through

BBTS and the like do not get their shipment directly from funpub's factories. As fa as we know they go through the same channel as fans, hence their high mark up.

or to pay off buying a booth and tickets or something

Not, its not a voyager, its an Ultra Class. That's between Leader and Voyager.
Yeah, I suppose that class still existed back then, but it was at the $20 price-point, hence the confusion
As opposed to whatever giant-punch primal and scourge were at the $30 price-point

Scourge was a Super and Primal was a Supreme.

I dont get it, why are we debating why a company seeks to make profit? BBTS is a business like any other. The ballpark figure for retail is charging at a 100% markup from your cost. Because BBTS is already there and has the capacity to haul em back, then their markup is much less than that, only 66%.

I think we're misunderstanding each other.
I assumed you were talking about another run of the short-stocked items. Which would be expensive if the factory had to ship those separately, at a later date, because the Club won't know people are scalping these until Botcon itself. Besides, why would the Club provide additional runs of convention exclusive figures? That doesn't make much sense.
Am I off base here?

Well, if it is the 3H Megs that they're doing as one of the figures for the show then I can skip it. As I posted in the customs area sometime ago, I've already acquired this lovely custom/original version of the figure from EnclineDesigns from ebay. You can see a video of the custom
here.
I am anxious to see what other Beast Wars related figures/characters they come up with though. I've already preordered one of the combiner sets from BBTS.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I am that which is, which was, and is yet to come.
And you will know my name is MEGATRON when I lay my vengeance upon you!

A comment about the video itself. Does anyone else feel that David Kaye's Megatron was a little more... "growly" than usual? To me he sounded a bit more monstrous and ferocious than the smoother "Evil Sean Connery"-type voice that he usually sounds like.

It sounded different and I immediately noticed it, as if he hadn't practiced it for 20 years
To be fair, it could just be age+strain/use of his vocal chords

The thing is, he just did that Christmas 2015 Megatron video back in December and sounded just fine.

I disagree on that one, it was really toned down. Only toward the end did it sound like BW Megatron. Though it might have been that I was just seeing his face and not Megatron's that threw me off.

Or, at least, he didn't sound like he was growling everything he sang in that video, whereas here he sounds like Megatron trying to imitate Dinobot's growly voice.

Bad news from the
BotCon Twitter for those wanting the centerpiece figure but aren't arriving until after Thursday:
Quick clarification on the Golden Ticket and being guaranteed exclusives. As with every year, this only applies to Thursday.
If you arrive Friday afternoon or during the weekend, they may be sold out. So, the 3X limit is only guaranteed on Thursday.
Store open at 5pm for GT and at 6pm for Primus. We stay open till everyone gets thru.
Yes, the centerpiece item was not produced in large quantities.

Re: Kaye's Megatron voice.
This set seems to be pre-Beast Wars, even if it's the Club's Beast Wars timeline and not the show's. Perhaps this is what a younger Megatron sounded like?

I'm not really sure how Megatron sounding more like an animal (before having even gotten a beast mode even?) would make him sound younger.
Though, with this new Megatron toy being "Transmetal 3 Megatron", the idea of the set being pre-BW might not hold as much weight to it anymore, as it could be a "post-Beast Era" setting instead.

This is gonna end up costing me a pretty penny I'm sure, but I've wanted this for 10 years now, so I'll hafta bite the bullet on it regardless.

You got me there. I've just been super focused on Predacus in vehicle modes making this pre-Earth/pre-Beast. Transmetal 3 (who came up with that name?) Megs might change that, yessssss.
Well, we'll see what happens.
