This product had a bit of a quiet release, so I wanted to make sure it was called to attention.

Announced at Roll Out Roll Call, it's a new collection of Ape-Linq, Flareup, and Shokaract/Hunter, with BONUS Flame War figure. These are repackaged in a new display box, along with a brand new 1-page comic featuring these four characters (and a few other familiar faces). The comic is set after Timelines #10 and after the Tornado Journals, if you read those on Facebook.

Here's the email concerning the set:

New from the TCC store:

This Transformers Collectors’ Club EXCLUSIVE BotCon Box set contains 4 BotCon Legacy characters. Included are Ape-Linq, Flareup, Shokaract and a FREE bonus addition, Flamewar. All 4 figures are presented in an illustrated display box. This is a one time offering and was done by utilizing the remaining Souvenir figures from BotCon 2014 to provide a unique BotCon set, one that celebrates 20 years of the BotCon brand. Also included with the set is an exclusive one page comic art print, tech specs and figure weapons.

This set is limited to 130 units and sells for $185

Another piece of information about the comic: It's drawn by none other than Dan Khanna, making his return to the characters of Ape-Linq, Flareup, and Flame War!

Writers are Greg Black and myself. Inks by Jake Isenberg.

Already own these four so I don't feel the need to get them. The comic, however, I'm interested in. Hope there might be some way to view that without double-dipping on all four of these figures.

I would love the box and comic, but I already have the figs.

Yeah, I would be very interested in buying the box and comic. Hope to see it available separately in the club store, but I get why it's only available with the figures for now. Gotta get that inventory cleared out!

Wouldn't take much for me to double-dip on the figs being an obsessive collector as well! Could be like "we added two paint apps to each comprising a total of one square inch of paint when considering all four figures together" and I'd have bought them again

I think a reason that could get me to buy them again would be if the comic presented them in a separate universe from Wings that told a cool enough story for me to want to have a second one of each to put in a different collection display group from the Wingsverse Knights and Star Seekers.

Hey FunPub. I love you guys. I've been a member from the start, own all your figures, magazines, comics, Botcon sets, attended ten out of eleven Botcons with plans to attend this coming Botcon. I also own all these figures. Love em. What I don't have is this swanky new box. How about loving me back a little and selling me the box with new goodies sans figures?

So what happened to the extra Alpha Triizers and Brimstones that were packaged with these figures? Where did they end up? :-?

Well, yeah, duh. But that'd still mean there would be just as many Alpha Triizers and Brimstones left over. I don't see them for sale in the club store on their own. So what happened to them? >:oP

Probably just set aside to be sold at a later Botcon if I had to guess, either through the club store booth or the "let's make a deal" table that usually runs through the weekend. Just a guess though, of course.

It's still pretty funny that people want this box just because it's a box. I don't get the point of unsealing sealed figures in bags to only seal them back up in a box set that hides them inside where you can't see them anymore.

That's probably why Fun Pub won't sell just the boxes either. In their eyes, this is a "Reverse Botcon Box Set". Any other box set, you buy the box set first, then if you want to buy a bagged set, you can buy it after. Here, they in theory, already sold you the bagged set, now they are offering you the chance to buy the box set. So if you want the box, you're going to have to buy the box set.

In reality, it's not that bad of a deal. Figure the box set sells for $185. Anyone that already bought the bagged sets, which are still available, paid the following:

Knight 3 Pack $139
Pirate 2 Pack $82
Attendee Freebie

If you break the Knight 3 Pack down and Pirate 2 pack, you can see what each individual exclusive is worth. Based upon GB Blackrock's data sheet here.

Alpha Trizer was worth $69.50
Apelinq was worth $34.75
Flare Up was worth $34.75
Hunter(Shokaract) was worth $54.50
Brimstone was worth $27.50

So $34.75 + $34.75 + $54.50 is only $124. That means $61 that's left is paying for Flamewar, which is not for sale on the club site, and the box itself.

Even still, I have no interest in these figures, but the math doesn't lie. If you want this box, don't be cheap and ask for the box to be sold separately, just buy the box set. >:oP

I'm curious how much story can be told in one page. Seen a bunch of these box sets at TFCon at Megatoyfan's booth. Didn't look like they were moving all that fast.
