Classics Bumblebee?

I got cl Bumbles the other day and I noticed something:

The back of his box doesn't have his bio. Or tech specs. Or adverts for the others in wave 1. In fact, the only thing it has is a pic of BB in both modes, with a large block of text in the top half saying his wave crusher transforms into a jet pack, written in about 15 languages. I checked with Seib's gallery of him and the box is completely different. So I was wondering if this was some kind of UK variant, or to distinguish between the slightly remold to fit his rub sign? Or did I just get a dodgy box?

Also, what type of car is his alt mode? I want to say a Citreon, but I don't know why.

I don't know about the box thing. I'd guess that you got some sort of international packaging.

As far as the car, the front end screams Subaru Wrx to me. Did Subaru make a WRX in a 2 door hatchback? Here's a couple of pics that make me think about the front end like I do:

The alt mode is taken from a bunch of different designes, so isnt really any single alt mode.

As for the box, I'm afraid it's the typical european mulilingual packageing we've been getting for a good long while in the UK.

The shape of the box is the same, and the front is the same as the gallery, it's just what's printed on the back that's completely different.

But there is definatly similarities between BB and the front end of those pics.

That explains that. But why no tech specs or bio? Do they think we are not interested those things? I got cl Astrotrain from FP when classics were starting to appear and his packaging was the usual. Daft Hasbro.

It's too bad VW won't let their stuff appear in "war like settings" or some such. Cliffjumper and Bumbles don't even have guns.

Ah, well.

Ah, well.

I gave Cliffjumper RID Hightower's hand gun and give BB Jetfire's handgun. (Jetfire has enough weapons already.)

*nod* I've used Prime's smoke stack gun, which does alright. But, in keeping with Bumblebee's personality (or at least what I've come to think of his personality from what I remember from the G1 series and the movie) I'm okay with him not having a gun. It gives him more cred as a courageous spy that tends to be overlooked by Decepticons.

Cliffjumper, however, gets some better treatment. I have a G1 Galvatron. He only needs his orange cannon. He doesn't need his black hand gun. I find that this gun gives Cliffjumper just the right look: badass little guy that's gonna sting you in the metal buttox with a nasty looking carbine. I can post pics in a few.

Maybe a bit big, but I think fitting for the personality.

Now, if we can only get a Classics Ironhide...

How else would they sit on a chair? I'd find it hard to sit down if I just had a big gaping hole on my backside...

The box thing is a European variant. All the Classics I've seen so far have it. Kinda really stupid, but you know...
I think the Uk variants are remolded, as the BBs I've seen seem to have their rub signs fitting perfectly, albeit most ascew still :P

Classics Cliffjumper and Bumblebee have alt modes with no connection whatsoever to Volkswagon. Volkswagon won't even allow Hasbro/Takara to use the Beetle, hence why we never got an Alternators/Binaltech Bumblebee. The lack of a weapon is, in this case, entirely Hasbro's decision.
