It does have a coolness factor to it. I wish I had known about this a while back I would have held off on the 1st Encore release. But I'm happy none the less...'nuff said!

Ah... He's perfect!!! I love the new facial paint jobs, even apart from all the rest of the improvements.
Man, Takara sure screwed a lot of people over releasing their mediocre Encore version first, only to be followed by the superior version. To me, the regular Encore Devastator was lacklustre: mostly due to the fact I have an original G1. However, I'd certainly have bought the previous Encore if I didn't have the OG1: and I would have been royally pissed off seeing this more interesting version come so soon after that one.
I'm so meta, even this acronym

I actually just got my first Encore Devastator and it doesn't bother me. I appreciate the G1 accuracy because that's my goal in picking up the reissues. I just want some version of the original. So this new one is actually less toy-accurate, and therefore it's not exactly what I'd want. I could see how others might be annoyed though, if this came out after they already got the first one.

I like most of the updates- especially on the individual faces. But that face, G1 or not, just looks like a balding middle aged Devastator who needs to poop.

Looks cool; and it took only 30 years.
Though it seems kind of redundant now with all the 3rd party upgrade kits out there that also seem to achieve better results.

To be frank, what's easier? Editing animation, or retooling the mold of a toy that was released in Japan
a couple years prior? I'm not really feeling the visor, plus I'm a stickler for toy-accuracy.

I'm really tempted by this set as I've never owned G1 Devastator before. I still have Menasor, Pirannacon and Bruticus from when I was a wee kid so this would help to round off my combiners. Yes, I know. Still need to get G1 Predaking too.

Don't like the green on this, too yellow. They never looked that color on any TV I used. The older toys were a better match. These look like someone took those and set them in direct sunlight for 5-10 years.

Those paint apps are all I've ever wanted from these toys and G1 toys in general.
Well, aside from more articulation, show-accurate designs and sizes, but that's what newer toys are for.

I thought the encore was of poor quality and when I first learned of this version I thought this was an auto pass. After looking at this post I may have to reconsider. Those individual bot modes are amazing!

Dat green.... Ugh.
I do like the other changes, though. The head looks ugly in the line up at the bottom, but once in place on the combined form itself, looks fantastic. How odd.

Agreed - I like the new face paints, but I'm bummed they went all day-glo on the green. I have, and LOVE my MakeToys Green Giant and I thought it would be cool to display them together. But Giant stayed true to the toy roots, and now this will look funky.

Yellow, Orange & Pre-TF colors I'd understand. But another green Devastator?

If I got this set, the individual bots would be displayed since I really like the changes made to their heads. The green looks a little "radioactive" to me, even though it's just more yellow added to it.

That's how they were in the show. The original toys always looked too "minty" to me, whereas the show colors looked more "lemon lime" like these

If you say so. This release does NOT look "Constructicon" green to me at ALL.

It at least resembles the green they had in the 1986 movie.
That might be where they drew inspiration for this shade of green, if it turns out that the cartoon had a darker green after all.

The colors may match the animation color scheme (I can't really remember offhand and I won't be bothered to watch G1 right now), and that's fine, but as the toy goes...bleh. Those colors suck.

Diaclone paint scheme pls!
I already have the encore and see this as an instead of, not an as well as. Not many G1 toys are show accurate anyway, so he'd look out of place... Nice concept tho'.

However, many of the Encore toys were redecoed to look show-accurate, so he'd fit in with those.
