So who am I supposed to believe?

I'm quite particular about replayability and game length, as these PS3 games aren't exactly cheap.

I've read every review and that's the only one which said the game was long. Every single other review says 4-5 hours and remarks on how "short" it is. Even the people I know who have finished the campaign said it was over very quickly.

I must admit that the Game Chronicles review was almost a little too effusive. It seemed like it was written by a hardcore TF fan who was going to praise it regardless of what it was like.

I'm still getting it but even I think $60 is too much for a short campaign and only 3 modes and 5 maps in multiplayer.

Appreciate the heads-up!

4-5 hours is definitely a short game considering the asking price. Well, I'll gladly use the money saved to fund my purchase of the Optimus Dual Model Kit. 8)

I'm in the RotF > WFC crowd as well. Rotf had a lot more variety to it, I felt like I had seen everything WFC had after 2 levels. All the environments looked the same, all the characters played the same except for the ones that could fly.

Hehehehe, man..... just... just so wrong. No offense, but you must have really sucked to not notice the advantages of different classes.
I can't even begin. Just read the reviews on ign, i'm too buzzed to bother.

I ended up picking up DOTM anyway, and its not bad, its pretty obviously rushed though, the collision detection and a few others things just seem rough, in multiplayer. BUT, its still got that fun factor from WFC that makes it definitely worth while, so I guess if you want to just play somthing new till WFC2, this is great. The single player is an easy once through though, I'll probably never play the campaign again, haha.

Yeah, and I hated the flying levels. Just the layout and environments they where set in.

I actually wished they had more flying levels, saying that, an open space flying level above cybertron wouldve been nice, bit more room.

Each character was totally different in my opinion, and each level is 100 times easier depending on which character you play as

The jet levels in ROTF paled to the WFC. Why? in WFC, you got to fly around objects (challenge) as well as use it for cover, and you couldn't stay in one form all the time with good effects. You had to change to a robot to pick up stuff and attack with better(quicker) results, and quickly kill tough targets, and you used jet form to escape and make bombing (rocketing) runs. in ROTF, you pretty much just needed to fly to transport fast, every enemy seemed to require a really repetitive attack to actually defeat him...
Its a case of gameplay mechanics. ROTF was clearly a movie-game
WFC was a game FIRST, then a Transformers piece of entertainment.
The whole free flying around the place is NEVER true free flying, it's all to make sure the player actually plays without flying off into no-mans land and taking hours to return. For craps sake, mechwarrior had that, and no one (with a brain) complained about that. Having a feature like free-roam doesn't equate to fun gameplay, try to understand this from the game's POV as well as the current gen game limits, you can't have it all, so you might as well have FUN.

I don't know why I'm defending WFC... maybe it's coz I can't stand people being silly about what makes a game good.... my apologies.

Dont know if that was reference to my post, but i do agree with that. I find a flying game so easy if i can just fly off and recover, no skill in that, quick transform fire fire grenade, transform fly shoot, transform fire fire thats how i do the flyers, die a lot, but when your in the zone its great fun.

But i would have liked a death star style dog fight above cybertron

It wasn't really in regards to what you said, but in accordance with what you stated.

I do agree, in campaign mode, we coulda had some fun games where you got to fly over cybertron, as well as seen just more of it from the top down view, even if it was all scripted and glued to a pathway. Ah well, the multiplayer lets me fly around dekeing and pwning like no ones business in so many maps, definitely makes up for it.
DOTM flying in multiplayer is really hard and unresponsive compared to WFC, I don't think I fancy it that much. It all plays like a different game though, so I can forgive it, if only its cleaned up a little with the somewhat glitchi-ness

I still want this game, but I won't be able to get it until my birthday. I don't even know if I'll be able to get it then either.

I guess you and i played 2 different games cause as both a gamer & tf fan i thought WFC was an excellent game. First off its not short, if you play on easy yeah it is but on normal it took me around 13 hours to beat the game the first time. Real gamers actually look around for secrets and extras not just blow through it to advance the story quicker. And there is no such things as a level being to long, games should not last 5 hours and you shuoldnt be able to beat a level in 10-15 minutes. The online was 10 times better than ROTF, it had co-op, "hoard mode", and the ability to customize and level your online characters. Not to mention the online was actually fun and different. ROTF was like call of duty bland and uninspired. Why do i have the feeling that you think halo and CoD are the best things since the wheel was invented?

^This. I liked ROTF, but WFC is a much better game, on par with PS 2's Armada. The big thing that annoyed me bout ROTF was the flying missions, they weren't good at all. Fly, land, fight, repeat add nausea. So boring. And the escort missions, dear god the escort missions, how I loathed them. I always hate escort missions, but in ROTF they were the worst.

On topic, DOTM was good, the campaign was WAYYYY too short. Not worth the $60. Maybe $30 or $40. Online is fun, on par with WFC. The only thing it's missing, and my main gripe, no escalation mode :-( Hopefully the release some DLC for the game and include it, I miss it so much.

Escalation is definitely missing.... I miss the co-op campaign too.
Is it just me, or do the menus SUCK. You gota press buttons so slowly coz if you try to navigate around menus to quickly, it'll make a button-pressed sound, but not actually do anything, its really quite crap there.
And I was playing last night, and found I got killed a lot by one person, really quickly and unfairly, so i'm pretty sure there's a bunch of cheaters already crawling all over this. :BANG_HEAD:

XxFAMExXLEGACYxX or somthing was his name (on xbox live)... beware.

Menus weren't too bad, but I did notice that. Happened to me in WFC too. Yeah, no co-op campaign makes me a sad panda as well.

That, and some classes as they level up are horribly unbalanced, but they in WFC as well. The scouts tend to piss me off, one hit melee kills, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...................................

Cool man, will do, once i get over this intense hangover. :HEADHURTS: :HALUC:

Yea, Its the jets who ram you, they seem to just fly into you once and your close to death, a second time and thats it for ya (also, difficult to monitor the health bar with where its placed and oriented). But Whatever I guess, just learn to avoid em. Biggest problems are the glitches, if you transform into a vehicle and try to gas it too early, you'll sorta lose all shooting/speeding up functionality. The gun problem i've seen sometimes in WFC, but I'm thinking its more due to if your lagging out in a game hosted by someone else. I almost always RULE when I host...haha, sucky deal for others.

Weapon: Spinning Augers
Ya know, i kinda agree with both sides in regards to WFC.

My issues with WFC were the following:

- Story mode was AWESOME! but too short. I kind of expected this since this is the first game in a series. I really expect that this engine put into a 2.0 mode will have alot more content, because this was a first time game for this studio and Hasbro's relationship with them. Now that things have proved profitable, i think we can see a bigger budget and a longer game.

- Ammo. I hate having to manage ammo, unless its like a super gatling gun or super rocket launcher. Otherwise, it sucks and just adds an element of blah to the whole thing.

- Control - Whenever im runnin around multiplayer and trying to melee someone down, i accidently mash my LS a little to hard and BAM! I transform into WTFIMDEAD mode.

- Multiplayer - I know im terrible at it, but when i blow a full clip on someone and they 2 shot me, i just don't get that nor will i ever get it because it happens in just about EVERY multiplayer game i play, so meh.

- Artstyle - Its awesome, but in multiplayer, its a real bitch to see an enemy unless your sites are trained on them. I like the gaming philosphy that "if its red, its dead" - we need red name tags on enemies, unless they are stealthed, because they blend into the backdrop waaaaay too easy. I know this aspect will change with the earth backdrop and all, but if they make a "WFC: The Rodimus Years", i'd like tosee that changed,

If DOTM is smaller, its probably due to them not having much time to work on it right after WFC is done, so i'll probably wait for it to hit the $20 bargin bin before i buy it.

I want to see what they do after all this and im hoping its longer, better, and it fixes some of the small issues i had with it.

I can understand your qualms, pal. I too have found it annoying to accidentally transform, and run out of ammo too quickly. I sort of change my strategy to account for that, but the accidental transform just means you got to discipline yourself to not get overly energized, haha... easier said than done, right?

As for people killing you too fast, I chalk that up to lag and CHEATERS... if you notice a certain player is consistently REALLY easily killing you, hes probably executing a multitude of cheats. Lag Switching means he will appear choppy, jumping around the place a bit. Theres another type (i forget what its called) where you can basically traverse the entire game map being invincible, (or more accurately, spectating). ONLY when coming out of this mode to fire is when he is prone to being attacked, as his game presence is now turned 'on' in the game.
Do what I do, refuse to play with suspected cheaters...quit the match over and over till you find a better one, or host your own. These problems are also cross-platform, so no one is safe. As for not seeing enemies, thats kinda rough... I don't find that problem so much myself, but I can understand how it might happen, plus playing on PC means I can remove the FPS limiter.

Well ive finally got my hands on the DOTM game.....and, well what can i say..........i think its the shortest game ive played......ever!

I started it at 4pm and 4 an a bit hours later, finished. I know i have some of the acheivments to get, but c'mon!

It was an okish game, but i think its clear the lack of time the studio had to make it, WFC was brilliant (imo) this is above average.

One big pile of goodness over wfc was the lack of dodge a boss then shoot the middle bit.

Jet Ramming is pretty cheap. I'm glad you mentioned that on here cause I saw it other night. I couldn't figure out what this jet did to make my health go down in 2 hits when he was in Jet mode. Now it makes sense. Will keep a lookout for that and maybe do some Jump up in the air Melee spin attack before they hit me. A Dash would probably get you out of the way quickly as well.
