Fall of Cybertron Bruticus

So we've all seen the official shots of Fall of Cybertron Bruticus Maximus. If you didn't(or just need that reminder), here he is again:

Image

Let's go over some confirmed key features to the toy:
-5 deluxe figures as components, each with modern-level articulation
-No combiner kibble; Every part of Bruticus is self-contained within the components
-All component's weapons able to combine into one
-3 decos confirmed already, even before release of one

Upon close inspection of images, his features seem to include:
-Full articulation, unfortunately minus fingers
-A wide limb movement range
-A scramble feature where any limb component can be interchanged with any other

And from pure speculation:
-Onslaught's gun can plug into Bruticus' back
-It can also plug into the back of Onslaught's truck mode
-Bruticus paves the way for more combiners of similar engineering

Some of us loathe him with a passion. Others are thrilled over the first "true" official combiner in years. But it seems like I'm the only one around here that is just ecstatic over the existence of this hunk of plastic. The G2 redeco would have been my holy grail if I hadn't have got to preorder it when I did. I just can't wait to get my hands on it.

So who else is bristling with anticipation over this toy? Is there anyone that still thinks he has the articulation level of a PCC? Anything else you want to say about it?

I need to discuss this toy. It's like plastic crack. :KREMZEEK:

Can't wait to get this myself, but I really would like to know what the deal with the different decos and see how they actually look in hand before I commit to any. Kinda leaning to the G2 scheme, though.

A disproportionately mismatched pile of utter toymaking rubbish. G1, G2, 3, 4 or G5, no color variation can rescue this ridiculous mess of body parts. Unless of course that's what the designers were going for, then they've managed to hit the mark with perfect accuracy.
Yet another glaring example of why I will not be purchasing anything from the FoC range. Still, it is your money, spend it as you see fit.

As a kid, I loved the combiners. As an adult, I still do. Minicons, modern teams like Landfill and te Energon teams (pretty much 'true cobimbiners' as well) and even PCC... So this is a 'must buy' for me.

WANT!

I'm desperately hoping it's another one of their awful mistransformations and he'll actually look good in reality.

You probably already realized but that bruticus in your image is the SDCC exclusive one... The retail version looks rather goofy...

Image

And throw in another Amazon exclusive G2 coloured one...

Image

Hope the united one gets the more game accurate colours. No way I'm getting retail colours, and I have no means of getting the SDCC one.

I preordered the Amazon G2 version. Not because that's the color scheme I like best, but because I want this set, but I don't want to pay $100 for the SDCC one or have to go from store to store trying to find the individual retail ones.

Hasbro's stockphotography is reliably awful.

And...? Those are better colors IMO. I just posted a pic of the one everyone else seems to like :p

I'd be willing to go out on a limb and guess that Takara-Tomy's version will have G1 colors.

can't wait. I hope this is a start of a trend. it would be awesome to get a 6 bot devastator, not to mention the other combiners.

This is why I'm waiting for in-hand pics and/or a review.

I will more then likely be collecting all of the FOC figures, however this bruticus COULD have done better. I love the cybertronian version but him combined looks messy. His limbs stick out too far from the shoulders and hang too low, it makes his arms look bottom heavy and if he were to actually walk, his knuckles would drag on the floor like some special needs caveman.
The video game version of bruticus is stocky and BRUTE, very proportionate. This toy does not reflect that. I would imagine Bruticus as a towering god, very menacing. Stick this guy next to the fans project bruticus and you would see how goofy he looks in comparison.

I will be 100 percent, be picking this set up, however I just wish they put in a little but more solid work into him. Maybe it's just crappy transformation or the pic that was taking, so im rather anxious to get my hands on him to see how he is IRL.

these pics however gives me some hope

in this pic below u can see how awkward his arms would bend

Onslaught being a Voyager definitely would've helped. 'Course, the in-game Onslaught doesn't look to be much larger than his comrades.

I'm curious as to how Brawl and Swindle will look as arms. Again, waiting for in-hand pics...

Is that even confirmed? I never saw a proper molded fist inside either Swindle or Brawl, and since they never switched in the cartoon and thus nobody would even think of switching them out...

Here's a pic I had handy. Right inside Swindle's calves.

Image

I also remember Brawl's combiner mode hands having the Ninja Turtle-esque 3 fingers. I'll try digging the photo of it up later.

I can see the scramble function working. This hand on the right is pointed while the other is a fist. He's also more proportionate in this pic
Image
I'm sure through mixing/matching and mistransforming/correctly transforming, you could get him to look decent if you really tried. I still want a video review to come out to see for sure however, just how good you can make him look without customizing him.

Also, Swindle is upside down in foot mode...
But he's posable! I really want him to have the shoulder cannons though! If you can clip that gun onto his back, I'll be a happy camper.

I don't wanna give anyone's hopes up if it isn't true, but look closely...

Image

Image

There's pegs & notches that seem like they accept Onslaught's gun. Again, pure speculation, not to mention a dash of wishful thinking. But hey, Shockwave has a gun arm mode, so why not?

I love that, good one dude! :)) I was never a fan of the G2 combiners which explains my little appeal to the retail set...as a combiner. But IMO they make great individual soldiers these Combaticons so that's how I will have them and then have my combined SDCC Bruticus ready for mayhem...'nuff said! :VEHI:

The retail set isn't G2, the Amazon one is. The retail one is the Energon-colored set. :-B

Edit: Maybe I should stop F5ing this page every 5 minutes to check for new replies... :BOOM:

I'm actually liking the retail version more now, i know it's got a toxic colour scheme but i would sooner have 5 different colours on the combiner than 3 it maybe game accurate but Vortex Blast Off and Swindle are the same colour just a different shade .

The only thing that gets me about this is the two totally different hands 8-} :BANG_HEAD:

I should see this first hand tonight at Comic Con and will probably pick him up. Whether I wind up liking him enough to keep him, that's another story.

Don't judge him till you fiddle around with him. There's often lots of hidden stuff on TFs that the first people to get a TF just don't notice.

Check out Bruticus' scramble gimmick and try confirming if Onslaught's cannon really can plug into Bruticus' back. =)

I agree, but my hope is that combiners will not automatically be Cybertronian version from here on. I think my general concern is that Generations type figures do not become solely Wf/FoC figures. Like, Cybertronian Jazz is not "Classics"/G1 Jazz. Anyway, I don't want only Cybertron style combiners. Some of them, cool: if we got a Cybertron alt mode set of Constructicons or even PRedicons or Terrorcons, some team where the alt modes could be more interesting that horrid attempts at Cybertron jets and cars, that's fine, but I don't want a Cybertron Superion for instance, where the entire set of bots ends up being horrible, jagged disasters labeled as planes.
In general I thihnk the Cybertron alt mode is a nice change of pace, but I would not want it to become the new norm.
