I like the new FP faces better... just cause these make them more G1 doesn't make it work with the ascetics. Like I think the G1 crazy Devy head on Herc looks downright silly...

Agreed. In this case, adding G1 heads to non-G1 bodies doesn't look right.

Yeah, it needs a bit of detailing to look right. But it's a step int he right direction.

It's always baffled me that nobody has cleaned up on making new heads for 3rd party figures.

The G1 heads could use a few more lines and details to make them fit in with the FP Bodies, but everything else is spot on. Im not a big "asthethics" guy anyways. Gimmie G1 and Im a happy camper. I dont mind a few extra lines and sharp edges to make it look more real than the quickly drawn G1 cartoon frames. And Fansproject is very good at that. But sometimes they get a little carried away and get Hasbroish. These new heads will greatly improve the figures in my opinion. Now that Im thinking about it, this would be an excellent set for Beezleboss to take on. It looks like the same style, anime with a touch of neo but not too much.

re: Dead-End's TFP Knock-Out looking chest, it's weird that it bugs me so much, since I was the one who said he'd be happy with a girl Dragstrip. I guess it's just that the Stunticons were something of a favourite of mine as a kid, and they always had the cars outside, and then their chests weren't the same as their car parts. There were plenty of bots that did have car t-shirts, but the Scramble City guys almost always just had flat, boxy chests, and I liked that about them. Even in the animation models you could usually tell a combiner guy apart from a solo guy. Racial profiling it may be, but it's what I think of when I think of gestalts, and I've watched those Stunticon/Aerialbot episodes a lot.

I agree. The GTO G2 Megatron is a prime example of it just not working. It's like Classics heads on Animated figures. It's just wrong.

In fairness, there was no attempt to blend the styles together here. The head is just pure cartoon look on a FP body. Detailing would help a lot.

Animated's a slightly different beast. There the proportions are completely diffrerent to the standard look. So having a more conventional head just looks odd. And GDO Megs is on a skeleton warrio's body. In contrast, I think GDO Springer looks pretty decent.

Throw in the GDO Cliffjumper too. Cliff's G1 head does not go well on Prim Cliff's body, IMHO.

The more I see the more I think this might be a pass.

Car Crash looks great, but Motormaster and Menasor will have to really wow me so I can get past the slightly small size. Motormaster's price will have to be fairly good as well. The limbs are a bit pricey for their size, so the costs better be spread out.

I don't think he's supposed to be an arm looking at that photo its just not right plus on the silhouette he has big shoulders , it looks like car crash will be the right leg.

If Breakdown and wilsrider cant become proper legs, this set will be the disappointment of the year. They already made the individual bot modes vary from great to crappy. If they f**k up Menasor, then other companies will have even more incentive to get the Stunticons right.

And I flat out think the G1 heads look better then the FP ones. For the most part the FP bodies for Car Crash and T-Bone are pretty G1 from the waist up. A few different angles and sharp edges maybe, but basucally the same concept as both the G1 cartoon and toys. The legs are "neo" as hell though. On the other hand, Drag Strip and Dead End are 100% percent neo from head to toe (or Hasbroish as I call it) and might not look as well with the G1 heads as the other two. But then again, a G1 head could very well be Dead End's savior because he really sucks. Even the people who love the neo chest were complaining about his feet.

Oh, you thought there was a day that they DID NOT do this, on all TF-centric boards?

If anything, they at least know we're eager for every little tidbit that can be found, up to and including the final Motormaster/Menasor reveal. I'd say that all pieces should be readily available before summer ends, whether they keep up the 1-a-month release or need a bit more time to finish. Even then there will be other figures we're STILL trying to figure out.

Maybe public holidays and staff birthdays :D

Eager is an understatement on here i think especially when it comes to the outcome of these figures. By the looks of it these will be 1 figure a month but i think after the toyfairs showings today i think they might forward a prototype of at least Motormaster. But then again maybe not after this comment

But there's nothing from the announcements at Toy Fair that shows any competition for a Stunticons/Menasor set. Not even Kreons! How I sure would like a Stunticon set in wave 3 of the combiners. So there's no true reason to speed up production or leaking out information.

From the first two preorders, one could assume that they wanted 1 figure each month, but I think they've been coy about announcing release dates after they tried two years ago to announce their 2011 lineup. At first, they were able to keep up but then the releases moved further apart. Life happens, and delays ensue. Those of us who want an FP Menasor have already preordered, and those on the fence because MM or Menasor haven't been shown yet will eventually see the pictures they need to make up their mind.

So my advice is to just sit back and the info you seek will be out soon. But like I said earlier, the set should be available before end of summer (factoring in at least one unknown delay).
