Figure Oh Image Reveals TG Thundercracker and Fireblast Grimlock

Our friends over at the Planet Iacon Facebook page have posted a image from the latest issue Figure Oh magazine that reveals a new and previously unknown redeco of Voyager FOC Grimlock! The figure comes in a red and black deco with yellow accessories, it's hard to tell if the head has been remolded or not. Also pictured are the Transformers Masterpiece MP-20 Wheeljack prototype, Masterpiece MP-12G G2 Sideswipe, and what appears to be a Generations FOC Thundercracker. Image mirrored below.

Beast Wars Transmetal Magatron? Or at least that's what the color scheme indicates. If so it gives me a reason to pick up the mold.

I wonder if this will tie in with Movie 4 Grimlock colors.

An homage to the Animated Activator "Fireblast" Grimlock, perhaps?

If this is so, I'm torn between shouting "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" at the top of my lungs, or going:

My exact thought. (You know Seibertron has its own gallery?)

Really ? Instead of doing an awesome G2 repaint, they give us a flaming red piece of crap ? And whats up with that thundercracker, is this a takara metallic version ? That would be a must have...

Well, that's an unexpected redeco for Grim, but a pretty cool one at that!

Finally! I was wondering when that Megatron retool was going to happen. We didn't see any update about since like a year!

Unless my Japanese is slipping a bit, "Fire Guts Grimlock" and Thundercracker will be store exclusives. Not that surprised.

Sorry, he'll most likely be using the regular head since it's still Grimlock, and not BW Megatron as someone before me suggested.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. We have no confirmation of this, as the image is too small to know if it's this tooling or not.

Well crap, it looks like I should have skipped that Hasbro Thundercracker after all :(. Oh well, he can become a generic WfC/FoC seeker I guess.

Either Fireguts Grimlock, or Beast Wars Transmetals II Megatron Homage, OR both.
As in, it's supposed to be Fireguts Grimlock, but uses the Beast Wars Megatron head and the TM2 colours. Double homage!

If it is a BW homage I'll definitely be buying it (and I may anyway if I like the deco enough, but I'm waiting on further pics before deciding).

Well, the colour scheme does look more like BW TM2 Megatron than it does Fireguts Grimlock. What little we can see of the head also kinda looks like the top of the remolded BW Megatron head.
I predict we'll see better pics within a week.

I can't tell if he has the Grimlock head or the Megatron head, but I'm leaning towards the Grimlock head.

That color scheme is too red to be Transmetal Megatron.

It looks more like a Red Ranger's Zord (MMPR, Dino Thunder, or Kyoryuger) to me, than anything.

Here's the "NO" counterpart to that video:

Is that what it's called? If so, interesting choice, and that answers the question of which head it uses.

If you own any of the Thrilling 30 Generations, you could set him over on an IDW shelf with them separate from the WFC/FOC figures. ;)

Hench me saying it looks like Transmetals II Megatron.

The head for that Grimlock remold even looks more like this than it does the TM1 Megatron head.

Turns out is is a DUAL homage to both Super Link Dinobot Magma-Type (dino mode deco) and Animated Activators Fireblast Grimlock (robot mode deco and NAME). "Fireblast Grimlock" it is!

That. Is. AWESOME! :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK:

Aw, I was about to post that! So instead I'll post pics of the homages instead:

Superlink Dinobot Magma Type (NOT Doom-Lock)

Animated Fireblast Grimlock (Activator)

So Fireblast Grimlock eh? Not bad :)

So it is a double homage, just not the way I thought it was. And I was wrong about the head.

Those prototype images make it look a bit fugly, but the production version will probably look way better

bah! saw Grimmy in the thumbnail and immediately hoped for a similarly bonkers Action Master Thundercracker repaint. Oh well, the dino looks okay.

edit: I propose calling him Fire Butt Grimlock, just cause.

It does look neat, and I love obscure homages like this, but I don't know if I want that doom-lock on my shelf yet. I'll need more pictures.

No, actually I can't because I don't read the comics. The Thrilling 30 line is just more Generations/Classics/whatever to me and just because Hasbro and IDW decided to repurpose an existing mold from a different continuity (sorry, but this IS an FoC mold, period) doesn't mean that I have to ;).
