First Edition Voyagers Sighted At Toys R Us In St. Louis

TFW2005 member slackerforhire has posted pics proving he found First Edition Voyagers Optimus and Bulkhead at the 6926 South Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Louis, MO Toys R Us location.

Image

As we previously reported here, the Hasbro panel (and display case) at SDCC '12 confirmed that we'd finally see these at US retail as a TRU exclusive.

Image

It should be noted that these First Editions aren't exact duplicates of the first run First Editions from last year.

This production run has two widely reported issues:
-Optimus is missing paint apps on his doors, shown here.
-Bulkhead's arms have a bicep swivel joint that has a stress mark on both pegs. (There are no reported breaks, just stress marks. The stress marks are hidden when the arms are attached.) Due to this the arms tend to pop off during transformation or posing.

Please, remember to use our sightings forum, here, to post your latest findings, it really does help your fellow board members and friends!

Ah, so dealers who splurged a year ago can keep charging $100+, and I can get and FE Bulkhead with repairable battle damage? It's a WIN-WIN!!

Now if only my TRU would just get the GDO deluxes back in...

Hopefully I can find a first edition Optimus next time I go to toys r us. Too bad it's 30 minutes away :BANG_HEAD: I guess Christmas shopping will give me a reason to go though.

Gotta ask, how'd Slacker get those $20 and $4 discounts? If there's a coupon I haven't heard of, I'd love to!

BOGO sales, plus there was a Groupon coupon earlier last week. $20.00 for $10.00.

I thought I'd jump at the chance to get these, but I only want Bulkhead. And even then, he'll be a placeholder for Takara's version.

I'll have to get the original release of Optimus. This re-release's color scheme changed in the wrong way

Kinda upsets me that there are issues with these. They are obviously extremely wanted figures, as they were in their first run. And after getting the GDO Cliffjumper, superior molds over the RID Prime figures. I mean come on, the only reason they re-released them was the outcry over how extremely limited they were in the first place. Kinda makes me wonder if they made the paint app changes just to keep the first ones value up....

I'm sure the paint app change was a mistake, it mirrors the change on the translucent Optimus. However, I don't think there will be more than one run, so it's not going to be fixed. As for Blukhead, the issue obviously lies in this run being made of a less sturdy plastic. :\

Why would they do that? They get no profit from secondary market resale.

IDK, there just has to be more than "Whoops, we used the wrong color plastic."

stopped by TRU on my way home and to my surprised they restocked, well kinda. They had new prime voyagers but no first editions(unfortunately they were $26.99 so no dreadwing or magnus for me). i told them to go frak them selves (im not kidding either i told an employee that TRU can go f them selves & he said im not the first to say that). But anyway with a little digging i found a FE Arcee, but in order to get the deal i had to get a FE starscream since it was the only other TFP deluxe. Deciding if i want to sell it or repaint it into slipstream. Well if anyone really really wants the starscream ill sell it to them for $100, just kidding im not a douchebag scalper but if your interested PM me your offer and best one wins.

EDIT: question, are the deluxes the same as the first run o rare they different like the voyagers?

Mistakes happen. Let's leave it at that. Hasbro hasn't got the brains for a toy collector conspiracy. ;)

It's the same place the translucent Optimus wasn't painted.

Just opened mine and Optimus has the missing paint. Doesn't really bother me because he'll be displayed in bot mode anyway. :MAXIMAL:

It seems they forgot to change the paint mapping from when they did the transparent run of the mold.
