Starscream: I still expect to see him up in a tree, scratching his armpits, and having a banana while flinging cyber-feces at Autobots.

Ironhide: I dunno, looks alot like Megatron, apart from the colors.

Frenzy: Surprised Lucas ain't releasing his lawyer ninjas.

Bonecrusher: I still wanna know where all those car parts go to. :?

I was a Transformers fan as a kid, but only in the last year or so have I started to get back into them(I'm 32 btw). However I've been a HUGE Godzilla fan since I was 5 or 6 and more and more this TF movie reminds me of the American Godzilla in '98:

It started with great anticipation from the core fanbase, dispite some questionable rumors about the plot, design, characters etc. This initial goodwill was totally killed in the months that followed when it was obvious that Tri-Star and Centropolis didn't give a damn at all about the character and history behind Godzilla, they wanted to use the name to make a crass, commercial, mass market rip off of Jurassic Park. Not one thing from the preceding 20 plus movies that makes Godzilla what he is, is on screen in Godzilla 98 other than its a big monster in a city. They **** all over the fans and lied to us at every turn.
Thank god the proposed trilogy was never finished.

So with that in mind...these designs are terrible. They are Transformers only because Micheal Bay and Co. are telling us they are. The same arrogant attitudes that ruined Godzilla 98 are at work on this film. Its a shame, because like a high tech version of Godzilla, a live action TF movie could be truley amazing.

Sadly this just looks like typical Hollywood ****.

I don't like any of them. I'll admit they might start to grow on me if I change my mind about seeing the movie, but only if the movie's any good. Changing my mind about seeing it will also require quite a bit of good news, and, for me, these designs don't even begin to qualify as good news.

Except Godzilla '98 rocked. I liked it. A lot. It was better than any other Godzilla film. Not a hard feat to accomplish, though. In a fight between rubber suits and CGI, who would you pick?

And aside from Frenzy, this movie looks to rock out like never before.

ok so yeah they dont look like the TFs I know, but am I the only one who can contemplate just how dangerous these guys are gunna be in motion, screamers "chicken legs"lol are the same as most 4 legged animals hind legs(i.e.you can get some SERIOUS kinetic force on the sprint) and with his obvious upper body strength, well lets just say I wouldnt want to be the poor 'bot tryin to get in his way,Ironhind and bone crusher just look like brick***houses(and probably the only ones who MIGHT be able to take a shoulder barge from screamer) and soundbyte, well when you see a 15-20ft giant coming your way I would hope you'd get the hell outta its way,but when a 'con like him get you in a confined space(oh say air force 1 maybe;))well good luck:)

Word. There's a great article about American Godzilla somewhere on line. (I tried to find it again, but I couldn't.) It basically details how all of the "improvements" that the film makers came up with were what caused it to be universally reviled. They even dug up some quotes from Dean Devlin admitting that mistakes were made. It all sounds frighteningly familiar to those of us who've been following the Transformers production.

A CGI Godzilla could have worked. The saddest part of the whole Tristar Godzilla debacle comes when you consider what nearly could have been had they gone ahead with the Jan de Bont film they had before they kicked him off the project and Devlin and Emmerich got involved.

Really? With the sole exception of Frenzy, I think these 'bots and 'cons fulfill every aspect and definition of Transformers.

And Godzilla '98 rocked. It was a Godzilla movie that didn't look like a middle school theatre club made it.

It looked like a Godzilla movie made by a couple Hollywood hot-shots with no respect or admiration for the property and a $150 million budget.

I agree with AbsumZer0. Seriously Ironhidensh, stop kidding yourself. Sure it has special effects which every movie goer loves but ask yourself this: Could it be better? Of course it could have! All they needed was Mothra or a slew of other Godzilla foes.

See history is repeating itself. Don Murphy reeled all of us in because I suprised no one remembers this, he had a Generation One Optimus Prime truck under a tarp when the movie was announced, remember? Now they turned the Transformers into a joke. That's what happens when you have director's who don't give a crap about legacy and use it to make money. See it's Godzilla, Batman & Robin, Lost In Space all over again. If you want proof those movies were bad just go to imdb.com .

On my final note for the movie today is I'm suprised. Thanks to Frenzy I think we all know what is coming. Another hollywood dud.

ok, lets see here.. these designs illustrate one thing and one thing only.. the designers are way too fanatical over bugs equal "alien" and two that star wars looks good as transfromers.. hence the toy line..I personally can't stand ILM... and wish tyhis assignement had been chartered through WETA workshop..

Not to mention a different director, and different producer.. Steven speilberg's lack luster movies of late really kinda puts a perspective on this latest tradgedy..

Michael Bay.. what a joke...

We shall see what happens after the movie.. I can say one thing.. I hope the movie theme song doesn't suckass.. I'm sure its not the catchy tune we all remember..

I'm just hoping this movie really doesn't suck.. but we shall see after July..I hope this doesn't give Transformers a black eye..forever..

Man! Do I dislike the ILM designs for this movie.......

Granted they did a good job on the star wars episodes 1-3 movies.. but machine aliens robots seem to reflect that...and shows in palpatines words " they will pay for their Lack of Vision" I hope that this movie succeeds.. Not everyone agrees with Don Murphy's optimistic views of the crew and direction...

I've been a little pre-occupied so to speak, so I've missed some of this stuff... here goes.

Starscream: not doing it for me.

Ironhide: Prolly for the best that the pic is blurry, but so far so good.

Frenzy: If a Transformer could look like a coke head, that's what it would look like.

Bonecrusher: If there's one thing I hate more then claw hands its arms that don't resemble arms. The scoop arm really is a buzz killer.

Well ain't that grand. Oh well, I guess some will be hit or miss depending on how they are character wise in the movie.
