My only complain with her is that they basically removed all the kibbles that make her a Transformers. They should have followed the manga above a bit more closely.

In no way is this a matter of “letting women feel sexy.” That’s a REAL world issue, this is a fictional character clearly designed by horny men. Windblade isn’t real and making some liberating choice to look like that. I don’t think it’s Puritan to want designs of characters that you can own without feeling like some weirdo who gets off to robot girls.

Everyone is saying “oh but the guys are buff too!” And yeah sure, but there’s nothing specifically human proportioned on them. Windblade looks like she’s wearing a tight skin suit, I mean for ducks sake you can see her nipples! You can’t say that the human-like features are equitable between the guys and her.

Hasbro has been pushing for Windblade to be one of the most prominent female characters in the new continuities, which is fantastic, but is this how she should be represented?

As far as things being insulting, how about someone's hard work designing, sculpting and engineering a model kit such as this (no easy task) being denounced and decried as "offensive" because some people find attractive female body shapes to be upsetting somehow? Because if I were the designer I'd be pretty insulted.

I'd also like to remind everyone that Windblade was not Scott's sole creation. She merely wrote one depiction of her. As a concept, she was a fan-created character that was given form by a suite of artists and featured in multiple continuities by multiple creators. Scott has no exclusive claim to how Windblade should be depicted, and the fact she personally doesn't like this model kit is no reason it shouldn't exist.

That is correct, she isn't real, ergo it does not matter in the slightest. Can't cry about "objectifying" a literal object.

I would have liked more aircraft bits on her but overall they're pretty equitable, yes. Both are exaggerated, idealized humanoid figures with robot details. Heck, Windblade is actually far more realistically proportioned than say Prime or Starscream, so in that regard she's ahead of the game.

It's fantastic in as much as there is a mainstay female character, but considering she's basically insured no other female Autobot can reach the same level of mainstream success (even Arcee), I'm not sure her prominence is such a good thing.

I'm reminded of that time where a pizza place near my old college had its publicity ranksacked and destroyed as 'dirty sexist pubs'. Said publicity simply showed a decently attractive, happy young woman holding a pizza. It wasn't even sexual and there were actually a diverse set of people. There was a black woman, an old guy and so on. The simple pub was them smiling and holding a pizza forward.

They burned and desecrated all those showing the smiling woman, writing **** like 'dirty sexist publicity begone'. So somehow showing a woman smiling was seen as a horrific affront to them and, again, this wasn't even a publicity that ran on sex appeal. Just happy people holding a pizza, but showing a happy, decently attractive woman smiling was deem horrible, offensive and taboo.

So yeah, the female form IS offensive in 2020 when it isn't butt ugly.

There are many reasons to be embarrassed about being a fan of Transformers. Liking an attractive robot is not one of them. If you really think that this is a big deal then either A: you have no idea what the outside world thinks of the fandom or B: your priorities are skewed beyond recovery.

To be quite honest I don't really want a sexy Windblade to be a hill to die on because I don't really like the kit nor do I really like Windblade. The issue is that I'm tired of the same constant arguments of puritanical nonsense which amount to screaming 'sexy is bad, weebs are bad, purge it in flame'. It's not even a mass retail figure anyway, its a goddamn model kit. Yes its 'out of style' of the rest of the Furai stuff, that's true.
