The Toy News website reports that overall retail sales in the US market increased only slightly (up 0.34%) and generated over $22.3 billion in 2006 compared to $22.2 billion generated in 2005, according to new figures released by NPD. However increase in sales in expected over 2007.

"In 2006 we identified a number of indicators which pointed to future growth for the toy industry. I'm pleased we're seeing these growth indicators beginning to reflect in the retail sales figures and we look forward to watching this progress in 2007", said Anita Frazier, NPD industry analyst.

"With movie releases such as Transformers, Spider-Man 3, and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, the action figure super-category should realize gains in 2007", Frazier added.

It's saying 2006 was a flat year with only 0.34% growth.

Maybe if they would have stoped jacking up the prices on the toys there would have been an increase and this wouldnt have been a flat year.

It has nothing else to do but gain. The last half of 2006 was all TF repaints, Classics are to limited in numbers to make a dent, and even still the shelves are empty right now.

So UP is really the only way to go right now.
