Frank Welker Not in the Transformers Movie and Corey Burton to Play Megatron in Transformers Heroes?

Ever since fans learned that the upcoming Transformers Movie would be a reality, they agreed on two things. They wanted Peter Cullen back as Optimus Prime and Frank Welker back as Megatron. Well it looks like fans will only get part of their wish. It looks like Welker will not be backj as Megatron. Welker posted the following on his own website back on December 12, 2007:

"I am not really sure what's happening with the "Transformer" movie other than my talented friend Peter Cullen has been cast. Presently, I have not been offered any roles. They are doing a new series based on our old shows which neither Peter nor I were cast. I think Corey Burton is playing the new Megatron. He is a wonderful voice talent and a great guy, so it's nice to be replaced by folks you like at any rate."

Also notice that Welker mentions that Corey Burton will be playing the part of Megatron in a new Transformers series.

Keep in mind none of this has yet to be confirmed and it is only rumor at this time.

You folks DO realize, that other than Peter Cullen, the rest of the voice actors will not be picked until sometime in 07.

This is a fact, BTW.

I heard about this, aparently we where all misled awhile back.

I could care less about Heros at the moment, I just want an official statement about movie Megs.

Guys remember, just because he's not voicing anyone in this one doesn't mean he won't be cast for a sequel. I half expected this. I just couldn't visualize G1 Megatron's voice on that Megatron. But, that wasn't the only major character Welker voiced. If there is a sequel, he could always be cast for Soundwave. That is a voice that can be applied to 2D and 3D formats.

December 12th. Was that date before or after we had notification that he was days away from signing?

welker not in movie, Corey Burton to play Megs in Cartoon

Welker may still come out playing Megs, he just hasn't been offered the role, but neither has anybody yet.
But Corey Burton will be cool for the cartoon! He did the original Brawn, Shockwave, Spike, Count Dooku on Clone Wars, a bazillion Disney voices... The guy is a friggin' genius!

Isn't it funny that Spike might end up as the voice for Megatron?
From Corey Burton's IMDB page:

"# Transformers: Five Faces of Darkness (1986) (V) (voice) .... Spike Witwicky
# The Transformers: The Movie (1986) (voice) .... Spike/Brawn/Shockwave
... aka Transformers: Matrix yo eien ni (Japan) "

If Welker is not signed then it would be a serious over sight on the part of the movie and the directors, especially if the reason is Megatron doesn't speak and is a mindles killing machine, which is a complete action movie cliche'.. Terminator, Aliens, ect.. ect.. ect..

I hope no stupid actor is cast and makes him sound like "The Bio-Booster armor guyver is coming to get you" like that horrid Manga Guyver redubb.. US renditions Video tapes are better for that classic anime then that stupid company Manga who Butchers and redubbs anime horribly..!!!!

I am so glad that the new company and anime of the guyver is out and in a much better quality..ahhhh relief!!

Any ways Transformers fans unite!! Get that message to the head of the movie studio, get Welker, and have some meaningful banter between Megatron and Star Scream, otherwise we are lokking at another independence day, and I won't buy into it at all..

Also is this allspark the Matrix?? or is that a seperate concept that isn't even in the movie?? i hope the Matrix is in the Movie, i love that power that Prime had.. it's so centric to his Character and gives him this understood history that Autobots and Decepticons have been around for eons with almost magic like technology..

He wasn't even OFFERED?

what a crock of ...well you get the idea. Doesn't sound like the production even entertained the idea of having him. Other than telling us they did.

Have we not been told before that Welker was/is in the running for Megatron? Now, we get word from Welker himself that he hasn't been offered the role.

Is it just me, is someone telling a lie?

A: I'm assuming you meant december 12, 2006 since 2007 is this year, & it's still January.

B: If I've got nothing else from watching this whole experience, it's that when things stay hush-hush....sh*t follows. Personally, I want Megatron to sound like Megatron....not like whatever "face" actor they end up getting. Frank's Megs truely was unique, & it sounded both ancient & metallic, which was perfect for Megs....& IMHO, especially this one. When I look at it, I hear a voice that nearly sounds like metal grinding, which is what the original Megs sounded like.

I think with all the backlash from the designs, Bay would have to be a fool to not use Welker.

normally i'd be pissed but seeing as how that thing in the movie which they call megatron is a piece of garbage i don't mind. it just wouldn't fit. since bay and the rest of the retards haven't done anything right so far why not just keep this pathetic streak going.

I think Hugo Weaving was in the running (Agent Smith from the Matrix, Elrond from Lord of the Rings).

I think I've come to the point where I've just stopped caring about the movie itself.

I like the designs, I like the toys, but I think - deep down - this movie has been dead to me since they put flames on Prime.

Welker would have been nice, but I'm not in tears over the possibility that he's been cut from the film...
