Paint app mistake nothing, all the toys with painted heads had red eyes.

Are you suggesting that Magnus has not been wearing underpants all along then?

Converts do tend to be the most overzealous.

That's what I was stopping in again to say. Perhaps Magnus' super devotion to law enforcement (IDW Magnus at least) is a response to former law breaking ways of his own. I'm not inclined to believe that only Drift is able to make use of that faction switching trick, going from killer to hero, so I guess it could be possible that Magnus at some point was a bad guy. I'd picture him as like a mob enforcer or something along those lines, some kind of toughbot who (still) never let himself take anything lightly.
d_sel1 wrote:Scourge in The Hardest Burden to Bear was able to use the Matrix (albeit unhealthfully), so I wonder he started life as an Autobot.

Side Question: which G1 tfs would likely have started their careers in another faction? For example, Scourge in The Hardest Burden to Bear was able to use the Matrix (albeit unhealthfully), so I wonder he started life as an Autobot. I know int he cartoon, the Construction were orginally good guys, if not ethnic Autobots.
Shadowman wrote:IHide wrote:I think it's quite possible Ultra Magnus was at one time a Decepticon.
It is possible but highly unlikely, and never even hinted at in anything Magnus has appeared in.IHide wrote:At one time wasn't Jetfire? Wasn't Starscream a scientist before the great war?
Yes and no. Jetfire and Starscream were both scientists, but Jetfire crashed on Earth before the war. When he was unfrozen, he had no idea what a Decepticon was, and joined with them just because that's the side Starscream was on. He switched over to the Autobots when he realized the Decepticons were evil.

Understood, my point was things can change, allegiances change. My G1 knowledge is a little hazy, but unless I'm mistaken, Magnus' past isn't revealed in any of the shows. Although I personally don't believe he was once a Decepticon, I just think that it's possible.

I'm with you. I like the idea that despite their age Cybertronians are capable of chaning their minds as the centuries roll on. They are sentient afterall, and so they may be programed (for lack of a better word) with a function (like how Ratchet is a medic) but not necessarily programmed to follow any particular set of unchanging, linear allegiance. I think a sort of appropriate G1 example would be Mirage or Thundercracker, who are both to varying degrees not at home with their faction ideology. They are fairly middle of the road kind of guys though; I strongly doubt you'd ever see the real wild, bloodthirsty Decepticons going over, or some one like Beachcomber going to the Decepticon side.

Scourge started life as either a seeker or an Insecticon. Can't remember which. Not sure why he was able to manipualte the Matrix, especially since he was infused with Unicron's life energy. Same happened to megatron, and Galvatron was unable to use the Matrix.
