You're not the only one on this.

Which brings me to my confession: I don't see what's so special about Game of Thrones. I've sat through two seasons and 90% of the time I was bored.

Not much of a confession, but no one around me seems to share my view on this.

Incestuous twins (no, not the ones you're thinking about, DG!), sadistic SOB of a prince, a super-entertaining snarky dwarf, medieval hookers everywhere you look...what does it take to get your attention?

Seriously though, I was a huge fan of the first couple of books, but the last 2 were pretty much Martin trying to stall for time as he figures what to do with the story.

I have seen The Walking Dead up to the end of last season. I liked the earlier season better than the later ones. Seasons 1-3 were pretty intriguing, but afterwards it was getting to be too much drama and not enough zombies. They need to get back to survival mode and start revealing the cause of the epidemic. (I never read the novels so I have no idea.) As for Game of Thrones, I watched the 1st 3 episodes and quit. And I even like medieval stories.

Here's a big one for me. I watched all through Clone Wars recently, and I have to say, I love it more than the movies. Yes, that includes the original trilogy. I loved it from start to finish.

Clone Wars was good. Like, seriously good. I'm not sure if I'd say I enjoyed it more than the original trilogy, but it's definitely a contender. It's one of the things that gives me some hope about the new movies, because as recently as Clone Wars, it was proven that there's still people out there who know how to make good Star Wars.

It started to get good in season 3. There were still a few arcs that stuck around a little longer than they should have, but it was still way better at that point.

JC's flick. After being asked by everyone I came across on a daily basis, for the first 3 months it was out, I said F it. I'm strangely spiteful like that.

I bought it last boxing day though. I'll watch it some day.

The writing is pretty cliche but the visuals are mind blowing. I don't think it's all it's hyped up to be, but it's worth watching at least once.

They're the only two that would reasonably fit in a thread called "Geek-related confessions." If you happen to know of any else that would fit, go ahead and post them.

Just thought of another one.

I used to be big into anime in my late teens-mid twenties. Interest started to wane after that and over the last few years, I've really fallen out of it, only picking up a show here or there because the concept interests me (or if it's Gundam in nature, but lately even those have had to really grab my interest for me to continue with them). I still enjoy the stuff I used to watch, like Dragon Ball, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion etc. I've never liked Naruto, Bleach, One Piece or many other popular titles. I gave them a fair chance, and even enjoyed some portions of the manga when I used to read them, but overall I never found the anime adaptations to be particularly good. The biggest one now, from what I understand, is Attack on Titan. Again, I tried to give it a fair chance to grab my attention, and again I started by reading the manga. After probably about a dozen or so chapters of the manga, I realized that I just really didn't care about the characters or the direction the story was going. As such, I've never even watched the anime, and probably never will.

tl,dr version:
Used to love anime, don't anymore, hate the series anime fans love.

Pretty much the same for me. I was a huge fan of anime back in the 90's (damn, I feel old). Maybe it's just the geezer in me talking but the 90's felt like the golden age of anime. Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Armitage III, Cowboy Bebop, Lain...those were classics.

As I understand it, the anime is supposedly more concise and focused. I've watched bot seasons of the anime and read some of the manga, and I enjoyed the anime MUCH better. The artist's artwork is unrefined, to say the least.

Maybe you should be give anime a try.

The anime can be slow as hell from time to time, but it's still really good. The first two episodes suck, though, but it really takes off with episode 3.

I don't remember much about the first 2 eps, but I guess that alone speaks for itself.

What worries me regarding the series is how the manga appears to be meandering, probably in an effort to milk the series for all it's worth--at least, that's what I heard. It's pretty much the same reason I stopped following Gunnm - The Last Order after a while.
