The price of that 3P "Unicron is still half a grand in Canadian dollars. I love Unicron but not THAT much. Plus like you, the fact that I have the Armada original and the "Amazon" remake (plus the best stand for planet mode) satisfy me aplenty.

Plus, let's be honest. It's completely pointless to have a "huge" Unicron because he will never be truly in scale with Generations figures. That is unless a government want to back and create the 8th Wonder of the World that would cost billions.

Darn, jealous... I'd love to have a throne of chaos...

LOLed at 8th wonder...need to figure out how to break out quotes....

It was "fixed" the same time it wasn't, you just have to pay close attention in the box to see if you got one that's assembled right or wrong. The one I bought at Target months ago was assembled correctly, at the same time other people were buying them from Target incorrectly assembled. Later runs and the variants will likely all be corrected.

You should ask that in the right thread ---->

because here, that really off topic.

No prob!
If you have a general question about something in the Kingdom line, go to the Kingdom thread and ask. Same thing for Studio Series and so on.
Not only will you stay on topic, but you may have the answer you're looking for pretty quickly.

You can also randomly discuss and comment on those threads as well. We are here for the info, but also to socialise and have fun as well! ;)^

Of topic again but the relevant topic is pretty much buried. I'll go with Titan Return as the best one, but her secondary market price is absurd for some reason.

Might as well just go with the T-30 Generations original.

Would have thought that fell under "general questions". :saint:

"General questions about titans, Unicron and other large Transformers." Unless Windblade is a titan....

Anyway, you're not forced to get Siege Jetfire. If you bend your rules a bit, there's a huge variety of Autobots planes to choose from. Notably T-30 Generations Leader Jetfire.

You know, you could always go back to the very first post of this thread. Then, EDIT in the subject field. Change it for "A Newbie's General Questions in Transformers Collecting."

Then, anything will go as long that it's for the toys, no matter the line.

Sneaky, but legal! ;)^

Been a while...

So, debating between Scorponok (black Zarak?) or the Ark. Is one objectively better than the other? Thanks!

Scorponok is an amazing Titan in Hand. I assume BZ will be just as spectacular (I preordered it day one). But actually since you can still pre-order BZ that would probably be the least expensive of the two, it just depends on your preferrence.

I have the Ark as well. The ship mode is impressive, as is Mainframe, but the larger Robot mode just seems cheap and uninspired IMHO. Plus those two small panels constantly pop off when attempting to transform.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

I bought the Ark. It's VERY annoying to transform because of those damn bottom panels that pop off no matter what I do. Then, there's Teletran-1 whose disks tend to fall off. Finally, the overall cheap feeling. I returned the Ark for a full refund.

I don't own Black Zarak yet but I never heard of any negative regarding the mold.

Yeah definitely go with Scorponok, he's probably the best Titan so far. I don't own the Ark, but from reviews and pictures I've seen, doesn't look like I'm missing much, especially at that price. But opinions vary. Between those 2, Scorponok is definitely superior.

Tail-end syndrome. Some people just flat-out never saw her, and a lot of those who did passed on her, either because they were exhausted with the line or waiting for juicier things like the Weirdwolf repack or the tail-end leaders to get stocked on the shelves. I fall into the latter category, and I regret it because thanks to the spot getting clogged by shelfwarming Mega Turbo Changer Dragonstorms the Targets in my area never shelved Sky Shadow or Overlord. :BANG_HEAD:

But anyway, that meant that the majority of those who did snag Windblade were either profiteer resellers or people who wanted her to keep forever (and thus wouldn't be selling her on).

-Kanrabat- wrote:Next titan is rumored for being Cybertron Metroplex. If they succeed at improving the altmode while keeping the two robot modes, it may be quite awesome.

The original is pretty nice! I just wish I had the minicon too.
Same. I was supposed to get him with my Metroplex, but the seller forgot to pack him in and never got around to actually shipping him. :-x

Mkdlmr wrote:
-Kanrabat- wrote:SS86 Hot Rod is nearly flawless and is even considered superior than the latest Masterpiece. That say a lot.

Commander Rodimus Prime is divisive because of size, price, and a design flaw in the trailer.

If you want the best bang for your bucks, SS86 all the way.

Awesome, thanks! Any thoughts on a Galvatron?
I still personally favor Titans Return Galvatron, I'm happier with his tradeoffs than I am with those made by the Kingdom figure and he has some play features I enjoy that the Kingdom figure lacks. That being said, don't get him if you end up having to pay Leader price; you may as well get Kingdom at that point.

As for Roddy... if you only get one, I would honestly go with Kingdom Rodimus Prime. Yes, he's a Commander-class figure who's not an all-in-one giant... but for that money a fully-fledged robot with a fully-fledged trailer base of good size (contrast with ER Optimus' sparse, simplified trailer). If he's a ripoff, then so was G1 Optimus Prime back in the day.

Roger. So, who in the Autobot lineup would balance him out though?

Ultra Magnus, who else? Either Siege or Kingdom are valid. If you like him gray for reasons, there's the Netflix or Takara Premium versions.
Easy enough to get.

Really? I would have thought Wheeljack or Ratchet would offset the evil scientist that is Shockwave... Never was a big fan of Ultra Magnus...

He's still an essential part of the G1 lineup. Wheeljack will be easy enough to get, but forget about any versions of WFC Ratchet and Ironhide. Secondary market prices are nuts.
Geez, guess it's a good thing I got my SIEGE Ironhide and Ratchet when I did.

Mkdlmr wrote:Curious: any advice on cleaning transformers or preserving non-box packaging while opening (e.g. Micromasters packaging)? Thanks!

For cleaning, dry brushes work best. I would recommend a tooth brush and a 1" paint brush to remove dust and grime, finish with compressed air. If you have to use a liquid use isopropyl alcohol as it's plastic safe, non-reactive to metals and evaporates quickly.
Emerje, are you trying to mess up people's toys?
Important qualifier: Isopropyl alcohol, AKA rubbing alcohol, is NOT ideal for cleaning painted areas or decals (printed or sticker); it can damage the paint, and the glue of stickers. If cleaning where those are present, I would recommend microfiber cloths or cotton swabs (cotton wool buds to Brits) DAMPED with water. Not wet, damped; wring out any excess moisture. Because you definitely don't want water lingering on the figure. Make sure to dry off any that does remain after you clean (probably with another microfiber).

For more annoying detail areas, you might want to use brushes as others have said.
WANT:
* Cybertron Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Cyb Jetfire R gun and missile
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* DotM Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* ROTF Jetfire R JTFR panel

Di Bonaventura is not a credible or trustworthy source. And most fans do like the diversity push, thanks.

I'd say go for Encore 23 Fortmax. That toy is legendary and still hold up to these days. Plus he feel so GOOD in hand!

Select Black Zarak have been delayed until spring. So you have plenty of time for room management.

Easiest way would be to put him on top. Otherwise, you'll have to remove a back panel to accommodate the tail.
