now i hate to rain on everyones parade because dont get me wrong, i want this figure. but looking at the pics have made me go "wtf" a couple times...

based on the pics, ive been led to surmise that the bottom of his jet mode shows nothing but robot. he has a transformation cheat where the bot mode cockpit isnt actually the jet mode cockpit. they look completely different. and BOTH are visible in jet mode.

Image

secondly ive been led to surmise that in bot mode, its the opposite. like you turn him over and theres nothing put plane on his back. which doesnt even seem to condense nicely...

Image

which all the had to do to save that was have the backpack able to slide down a bit. like so:

Image

believe me i know that im nit picking... but these are just simple things that are kind of screaming at me whenever i look at him... obviously ill reserve judgement till i actually see him. and even with all these flaws i garantee ill still buy him. but.... what does everyone else think?

The wings were also my sticking point when the figure was shown. I didn't notice or care about the cockpit, though it did seem to me as well that even for a Leader Class figure the transformation was simple with the robot basically hanging under the plane. The only feature I really like is the head. Otherwise, I am underwhelmed by this figure.

I'm surprised when any TF above a certain size class has a particularly intricate transformation. Not that I'm defending larger figures having simple transformations, just saying that's the way it is more often than not, so I see no reason to be bothered by it >:oP

The wings on the other hand are kind of bothersome, and gives me plenty of reason to hold on to Henkei Skyfire since he can fold his wings all the way down.

It's not perfect. No big deal. If it were a MP with a $125 price tag, that would be different. But for a Leader class figure, this looks awesome.

we also have to consider the possibility that part CAN slide down and noone bothered to transform it right, because that seems to happen alot

Shades of G1 Darkwing. All robot underneath. Have you every considered this was intentionally done to cover their butts (Hasbro/Tomy) from a potential suit from those psychos at Harmony Gold or even Arcadia or Bandai?

This time, this "Skyfire"/Jetfire doesn't look like an exact copy of the original Valkyrie/Veritech fighter.

Wished the backpack of the TV character could have been replicated like the one similar to the G.I. Joe commemorative Skystriker painted like Skyfire which HG raised a fuss a few months back.

I think in the leaked picks his backpack/ tail fins do slide down, but you can still see a little tail fin sticking out, which is kind of annoying.

I just hope he is a nice bright white color, and not Hasbro Classics/WFC Jazz white.

When I bought Universe Silberbolt (bit of an impulse buy), I was like "WTF? It's just a plane with a robot attached to the bottom!?" But it's grown on me and become one of my favorites, in part BECAUSE of this simplicity; not in spite of it. (Now I regret not buying the sweet Darkwing repaint when I had the chance! :BANG_HEAD:)

When I'm looking for a TF to fiddle around with while I'm watching TV, it's the simple figures like this I reach for.

silverbolt annoyed me because i knew i couldnt attach any other jets to superion'ize him... aside from duct tape. which wouldnt be pretty.

but i do regret passing on subsequent repaints...

Going by the toy fair photos, the underside seems really well put together. There are some robot part and yes the faux cockpit is plainly visible, but its a plane, what can you do with the robot if its not in the undercarriage. At least its not as obvious as Silverbolt, where you could basically detach the plane from the robot and have two separate yet fully functional and complete entities.

The Backpack also seems like it can slide down again based on the Toyfair photos.

I think Jetfire is a lazy design. The transformation seems too easy for a figure this large. I also can't stand the hollow wing designs. Hasbro has moved so much into the hollow design in the past year. Just makes the figure look cheap.

That case was dismissed with prejudice.
Harmony Gold can no longer take Hasbro to court for the same reason over & over :)

I actually used him in a research methods class to explain statistical transformations to my students for that same reason.

Not to salt any wounds, but the Skyfall/jack one is my favorite. The red and black Walmart one.
You've got to be able to find either of the con repaints if you poke around enough though, right? I have a hard time imagining they're hard to come by these days.

Dare we hope that the backpack was mistransformed and it does fold down? It would be the first time.
