Generations Roadbuster All known Mods +

Postby wewyllenium » Tue Dec 22, 2015 9:21 am

Hi All. Got inspired by the guys who modded their roadbuster toy. Here's my take.

1. Use "3x connector" from zoids as Sholder/Side mounts for the Rocker launcher and Rifle/Long Range Rifle.

2. Added wrist swivel. (Separate hand from arm. Drill hole on hand. Stick in a headed peg. Use epoxy for receiving cavity in arm halves.

3. Added waist swivel. (Separate the pelvis area from the torso. Drill 9mm holes for both. Finish with epoxy. Glue in a 9mm cylinder in pelvis. Connect to torso hole and secure with a screw.

4. Drilled a hole in the back for the rocket launcher.

5. Painted Visor Red.

6. Painted in some detail.

7. Painted the guns in Gun Metal.

8. Added custom decals.

9. Topcoat with Tamiya Semi-Gloss Clear.

10. Have Fun.

Motto: "A cunning smile is more devastating than the fiercest weapon."
Weapon: Anti-Thermal Cannon
Those are some nice mods which do enhance the figure. I was very disappointed with this one when I bought him and I sold him on within the week. Things that Hasbro could have done simply like wrist rotation you have here would have been great.
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool! :)

Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron

@Carnivius_Prime: Me too. I was quite disappointed with the rest of the Generations voyager that came after Sandstorm. All felt lacking in one way or another. It's like Hasbro/Takara Tomy really took a few leaps back.

Though in my process of modifying the toy I kinda saw why they did things. The base engineering does not allow for waist and wrist swivel if toy integrity and stability (a must if making toys for 5 yrs old and above) was a part of the prime considerations.

Like the pelvis before I modified it. I think they skipped the waist articulation because it would contribute to toy breakage since the pelvis would have to support the upper body weight while working with only less than a centimeter of surface to surface volume. A child would easily snap this.
