I guess the regular Timber. He's greyish-whitish. I thought he was always light in color... I wonder why there's a variant? Or is this going to be like Star Wars now, haha.

I should have said "more of my money," since they have so many licenses now that I collect from! They're smart, those HasExecs!

Indeed they are.

I guess they are trying to throw something out for the variant collectors who collect GI Joe.

I got wave 1 of the 25th anniversary figures today. Haven't had a chance to open them yet but I like the packaging. On the back they have the rest of the waves in silhouette. I was able to pick out Spirit, Crimson Guard, Serpentor, Lady Jaye, and Shipwreck. I think one of the other ones is Beachcomber. Also the legs look different so maybe there is hope.

These are not re-issues, they are more like TF CLASSICS, resculpted, re-imagined versions of the original vintage 80's toys.

The Joes are about 4" tall, rather than 3.75" and they are better articulated, and have more realistic proportions. The one thing they cannot do at this time is sit down (so they can ride in a vehicle). They go extremely bow-legged.

But still good none the less.

Start checking your Targets!

I went to 2 Targets this morning and saw the 5-packs only. I decided to go back to one of them later cause I saw a bunch employees stocking the toys. Good thing I did cause I finally found the single packs plus Snake Eyes with black Timber.

I forgot to mention that there was nothing new for transformers. :-(

Yarr, I guess you have to take the good with the bad. I'll start looking after this weekend's rumored toy aisle reset.

Well I opened up Flint today since I always liked the character, until I realized he was the creation of FLINT Dillie. Anyway he comes with a pistol grip automatic shotgun and a .45 cal pistol. Two things about the accessories: 1) I'm a bit disappointed that the stock for the shotgun was molded into place since it would've been nice to have that as an adjustable piece. 2) I'm fairly certain that on the origional figure the side arm was molded on so having one that's removable is nice although in the card art it looks more like a revolver of some sort. 3) They couldn't do the weapons in accurate colors? The figure its self features the same articulation as the 25th anniversary sets but it appears that he can actually sit normally. I didn't try to sit him in a chair or anything I just bent the legs like they would need to be if he were siting down. his right hand is molded tighter than the left so that's the one I have holding his weapons. While it can hold his guns well the left hand can hold the barrel of his shotgun in a typical military pose. I'm disappointed by this for two reasons. First, on the card art he is holding his shotgun with his left hand and secondly, I'd like to leave the right hand free to draw his side arm; which the figure is able to do quite easily I might add. The bandalero that was originally molded onto the figure is now removable which is a nice touch. All in all I'm happy with the figure and I'll let you know how the other ones are in due time.

Nice review. I was underwhelmed by Flint, but I always was. He never interested me that much as a child.

Today I opened the Cobra officer. He comes with a knife that is strapped to his leg and a modified AK-47. The officer has silver accents where the trooper is red and has a rank marking on his helmet. Both hands can hold the rifle although I have him posed holding the rifle in his right hand with the left holding the barrel. The knife is connected by two clips so it can be slid out or pulled out the back in a swinging motion. If he grabs it like dagger the officer can draw the knife from it's sheath. Articulation is like all 25th figures although like Flint I think the crotch issue has been fixed. I do believe that these guys are a bit shorter than the figures in the set so that might have something to do with it.

I ordered a SDCC silver Destro from BBTS and found out that this figure was released limitedly 10 years ago so if you have that one it's a collectible.

On another note can someone remind me the leadership ranking for the Joe's? I thought that Duke and Flint shared command until Hawk came along and was over those two. Sgt. Slaughter although a Sgt. was given a level of authority equal to Duke and Flint. Also on the Cobra side I assume a Viper is higher than a trooper but where does the Crimson Guard fit in?

There were about 100 produced and they go easily for $1,000 or more...for a little 3 3/4 inch figure and loose complete, not even MOSC. But you won't be sorry you ordered him. It's a very cool exclusive, I just got mine today!

On cobra's side I see CG's and Vipers about the same, but I suppose you might say the CG is of higher rank.

WEll there are others above Hawk even. The Jugglers (6 or so high ranking defense officials) run everything. Also, there is General Joe Colton, the original joe, who is above or equal to Hawk, I believe.

Where do you preorder SDCC exclusives? I would have liked that option over biting my nails and hoping that HTS restocked some of the items I wanted. I still haven't gotten Rodimus :?

Many sellers on eBay had pre-orders for the items. Some reasonable, and some well unreasonable, it just depends what you wanted to pay in hopes that you would not miss out AFTER it was over.

HASBROTOYSHOP was better this year than last. Didn't crash, and quite a few for ordering.

Pimp Daddy Destro http://www.yojoe.com/faq/pdd.shtml

He was in the 1997 TRU Commemorative line. He came with a rifle and disc shooter.

The 25th 5-pack Destro comes with a briefcase which holds a hand gun in it, like Destro's original backpack did way back when.

Alexander is Destro's son, who has taken up the chromed dome as well. He's not quite as honorable as his father, and has worked on off with and against his father. Currently, i believe he is in his father's good graces.

In “The Mission That Never Was”, it is revealed that the core G.I. Joe members were sent on one final mission, which resulted in Cobra’s Brainwave Scanner being corrupted by a virus that spread through the entirety of their mainframe. Crippled and defeated, Cobra then fell to a ‘unified military attack’ (this attack is never detailed in a story, but hinted at in various “Battle Files” entries). A happy side effect of this confluence of events was the incapacitation of the Brainwave Scanner. Without repeated ‘self-medication’ via the Scanner, the Baroness was freed from her artificial loyalty to Cobra. It is left ambiguous as to how Destro overcame his brain implant (which was self-contained, and thus unaffected by the virus), but it is speculated that, as happened in the Silent Castle some time earlier, the love between James and Ana can overcome any obstacle.

The two returned to Trans-Carpathia and retired from the intrigue and danger of Cobra, but continued to rebuild MARS establishing an outpost in Scotland. During this time, Dr. Mindbender and Scrap-Iron both enjoyed productive employment with MARS. But at some point, James contracted a serious family illness, and was bed-ridden for a long time.

It was at this point that his illegitimate son, Alexander, surfaced. Vulnerable in his weakened state, James took Alexander in, and gave him full run of the operation. Wanting to make his father proud, he usurped the Destro identity, and recruited Lilian Osbourne (Mistress Armada) to lead his armies, as he had nowhere near the strategical genius of his father. When James begins to recover from the illness, Destro injects him with an experimental nanite technology, which keeps him incapacitated.

‘Destro’ then arranges for the Cobra Commander to learn of the nanites’ existence. Thinking he’s stealing them from a U.S. government, the Commander devises an elaborate scheme to take control of the country. With new-found momentum, Cobra Commander begins contacting all his old allies, and returns to the U.S.

‘Destro’ and the Baroness attend the meeting in Zartan’s Florida compound, appearing to all as couple on the outs. After hearing him out, ‘Destro’ and Lilian stage a coup, and take the Commander prisoner. Using the nanites on the Commander and all the former Cobra agents (save Zartan), ‘Destro’ is able to secure his hold over the organization, and effect the reunification the Commander had hoped for.

Manipulating all the members of Cobra, ‘Destro’ unleashes the nanites on the United States, very nearly taking over. It is only because of the intervention of the G.I.Joe team (who were reinstated when the Commander returned to U.S. soil), and Cobra Commander (who was freed from the prison by Storm Shadow, and cured of the nanites) that ‘Destro’ fails in his bid for domination. When the nanites are defeated, the real Destro is freed from his paralyzed state, just in time to greet Alex and Lilian, who are imprisoned after the Baroness rescues them from their losing battle.

Back in control, Destro is forced to make restitution to Cobra for his son’s transgressions. Offering the Commander an explanation for the doppleganger as well as the hi-tech Destro family helmet that aided Alex in his deception, Destro agrees to work with Cobra until such time that he feels the debt is paid."[/i]

I think BBTS is selling a loose Destro from the TRU line in his origional state. Thanks for the info on Alexander. Did they ever make a figure of him?

Not yet. Although you could choose any of several versions to use as him, I suppose.

Finally found some 25th stuff at retail... Got the two five packs and all the carded figs except the Cobra Officer.

Target, TRU, and Walmart all had them to varying degrees of size of displays. :-?

I went to my local Target today and one of my local TRU's and found ONE loose Storm Shadow and ONE Cobra 5 pack on the shelves of Target. Thank God for BBTS. By the by I've taken Destro and Cobra Commander out of the 5 pack box and have noticed a few things. On Destro his gun hand holds the laser in his briefcase really odd and contrary to other reports can't be held in his holster. Both gun hands on Destro and Cobra Commander do have a tendency to come loose so be careful. One final thing on Cobra Commander; once you take his helmet off it doesn't fit back on as snuggly. It is secured to his head but it just doesn't feel right.

I've also opened the 25th anniversary Snake Eyes with Timber so here are my thoughts on him. First I should mention that he shares the same mold as his 5-pack counterpart so yes, he has those problem legs. He looses the murse in favor of a Katana sword but I'm disappointed that they didn't mold a sheath onto his back or weapons harness. The only sheath is for his knife which fits well, but not great in it. His hands hold the weapons tight which is nice. I'm a little taken aback by the gray of Snake Eyes since I'm used to the cartoon navy blue of his costume. By the way, the 25th anniversary figure stands ARE CRAP! They have a raised Cobra or Joe logo that makes it next to impossible for the figures to stand right, they really should have gone with a more traditional design. I think we all know it's the 25th anniversary so there is no need to beat us over the head with it.

I see shelf space for these toys, but hardly anything on the pegs. Hasbro better keep up with demand on these... I don't want to resort to ordering cases of GI Joes on top of ordering cases of Star Wars figures.

Walmart seems to have the best, and most reasonable price, at $4.99 or so. Too bad all they had was ONE Snake Eyes.

I don't know if these guys will be released in Quebec (I doubt it), but Legends Action Figures on St-Hubert street in Montreal has them up for pre-order. When they get them, I'll be sure to buy some!

Stores are getting them in quite often. Thing is that they sell almost immediately. I put out 3 Cobra 5-Packs and two cases of single figures. Came back in the next night and all that was left were two Snake Eyes and a Storm Shadow.

I finally got the two five-packs at a Target. Absolutely no figures on the pegs though. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I just hope it means the stores will order more product. I mean they do want to make money, right? I need all of the single carded figures except Snake-Eyes II.
