Wow... Goldbug is gorgeous. And a vastly underused character (who will be appearing in Fusion, I believe...).
That's a failure? What went wrong? :(

man, it was an attempt at complete futility (ya like that?)

it was supposed to originally be my crowning alt. bumblebee
after being less than perfect, i figured i could salvage it by
making it goldbug. but in the end
it was completely frustrating, there were:

gap issues that couldn't be fixed
paint issues (it wouldn't stick to the body even after being resanded
and re-painted)
i couldn't get any of the joints to hold to the body the glue
kept coming undone
i couldn't secure the legs to the body, again JB Weld, epoxy, marine
epoxy, and 3 other types of super glue etc. couldn't make it stick
i finally had to give up as i was sooooooo pissed that it wouldn't
work...and if i finished it would still have sucked.
look at my snarl, first thing anyone pointed out on it was the gap issues

we've all got a good "eye" and see the little things...
I want an alt Bumblebee probably more than any other character ever,
since i was 5 he has been my single most favorite character and to
create him is to be perfect. nothing less...i hope someone else out
there understand what i'm sayin.

ok if you get a small enough drill bit you can use it to make screw holes. with the new tiny holes add screws into the tiny holes to make it strong. any small toy screws would work i like the ones from the kos that have a point they secure better. ive done this to customs you can drop them of a fridge after. i have rarely completed a custom all the way through they almost always go in the cubboard for storage till i get feeling to work on them again. that screw thing should help with leg placement :D

yeah, i'm gonna make sure everyone that wants to do a bb
can have the right head. the cast/mold is ok i can only do it as
a one piece as i couldn't (actually wouldn't) take off the head from
the statue.

the head is slightly larger than a smokescreen head, put will definately
fill the the giant void that is the engine compartment.

soo exactly what the new title says

i figure Piranacon is with me on this...but anyone else is ok to be along
for the ride.

here's what i'm thinkin
since the VW beetle is probably never gonna be made, we've got
enough talent here to do it ourselves...heck they practically gave us
most of the design already.

i am gonna use this as the base alt mode:

i like this version because it is more aggressive, more rally.
it is longer, wider and taller that the regular beetle and both are
1:24 scale[/img]

anyway, i like the look better and it will be easier to fit an
alt body into.

really my version of Bumblebee looks very similar to my goldbug.
an alt smokescreen/streak forms the basis for robot mode

the front of the body forms the upper torso
the rear the legs...obviously it departs from the bt version because
of this
i like the look, but i'm not talented enough to make it work:

Image

hands/arms from either sideswipe...i like those the best or from skids
(which would probably fit better)
i think i've figured out the shoulder mount, the swing wheels in the upper torso, and the head/windshield/hood

but i would need help on figuring the feet/wheels, and how to fold the body in various parts.

this becomes a group project in that if i'm
going to do this i'm gonna make this diecast
model into a plastic one.

after starting with trying to build BT's i've found making plastic
Alts far far easier, the plastic is far more forgiving. i'm gonna
buy 9 lbs of maritime RTV molding to cast all of the various parts in

what i plan on is gutting the current car of all non essential parts, then
epoxy in all the necessary mounting points to screw in the parts, then
mold and produce that shell. at that point it is essentially a BB ALT kit
that needs to be finished/shelled and painted. the cost is going to be
rather steep for one person, but with a few of us, not so bad

if no one wants to go in, i'll still make a few kits and they can be purchased, but i think the group project will be better

so what do you think?

im up for the group project, i have 2 nearly done myself but need something to push me along to assemble them,

also like the idea about making an alt bb kit, but i think everyone wants to assemble there own in differant ways but it culd work i guess,
another thign is a 1.24 vw kit can cost about $10 some times and im guessing a resin one would cost atleast 50-60,
but if you could make one to reshell jazz or another alt they would be awsome

yeah, i guess basically it could be a shell with the
hard points molded into it.
no more problems with attaching winged doors
hard points for the front and back wheels,
roof attachments etc.

i've got two plastic kits i wanted to "prototype" with along with my
experience from the metal one. that, along with your experience on
both your BB's, this could turn out pretty awesome

honestly i don't think the kit will cost that much
i mean to make up full cost of the kit..yeah it may
if we're not looking for that well then it isn't so bad

im sure we could work out some cheap materials for a kit if you think the shell woulldnt be too much, maybe packing in some styrene and then they could buy an alt smokescreen or jass to get the hands and joints from

the second alt BB im doing has some new mods from the first one hopefuly by the third it should be near enough perfect :/

im also making a cast of the WW bumblebee that Jd was going to make, so that might be another option for an alt BB head

if possible you should pm me what your other ones look like...i'd love to see them. i think a jazz or smokescreen body would be very easy to do.

obviously i like my version of transformation....easier on me, but it could
easily be done any other way.

the statue head...fits better than i even imagined on the wide body.
it looks a little big on the standard beetle, on the wide body it's perfect.
i'll take a pic for you tonight.

wierd to think that little bumblebee will be bigger than many of his alternator brethren. Your right though, it is a really good fit.
