Fellow Seibertronians, we come to you at this late hour with details of the new Hasbro convention HASCON to be held in Rhode Island this upcoming September, on the 8-10. Below is a quote from the faq that summarizes the premise of this convention, the full press release, as well as links to the various publications concerning the convention. Although, at this point, there has been no word on whether there will be any exclusives, either Transformers, or otherwise. HASCON is Hasbro’s first ever fan and family convention which will be held at the Rhode Island Convention Center and Dunkin’ Donuts Center and other nearby locations (collectively the “HASCON Sites”) from September 8-10, 2017. HASCON will be a celebration of Hasbro’s powerful characters and stories and will include live interactive experiences, special HASCON products, talent appearances, first-look screenings, panels, and much more. (NASDAQ:HAS), a global play and entertainment company, officially opened ticket sales for the first-ever HASCON FANmily™ event, which will take place in Providence at the Rhode Island Convention Center and Dunkin’ Donuts Center from September 8-10, 2017. Hasbro fans and families from around the globe can purchase single day tickets or three-day tickets for the convention, with VIP packages available for super-fans and the most enthusiastic collectors.

Today Hasbro also revealed the first round of talent appearances, panels and brand experiences set to take place during HASCON 2017. Appearances and meet & greets will be available with some of the biggest names from Hasbro, including DUDE PERFECT, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (Producer of all the TRANSFORMERS films, as well as G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. JOE: Retaliation); Stan Lee (Marvel Comics Legend); Peter Cullen and Frank Welker (original TRANSFORMERS voice talent); Andrea Libman and Cathy Weseluck (voice talent of MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC and MY LITTLE PONY: THE MOVIE), “Chewbacca Mom”, Candace Payne and more.

This unique event will bring Hasbro’s most iconic brands to life like never before, including TRANSFORMERS, MY LITTLE PONY, NERF, MAGIC: THE GATHERING, PLAY-DOH, MONOPOLY and G.I. JOE, and exceptional partner brands such as BEYBLADE, DREAMWORKS TROLLS and SESAME STREET. Fans will get a peek behind the Hasbro curtain during the three days filled with exciting first-look previews and panels from Hasbro’s biggest television and movie series.

Attendees will be immersed in hands-on, interactive experiences with oversized games such as PIE FACE and TOILET TROUBLE from HASBRO GAMING, photo opportunities with SESAME STREET and TROLLS costumed characters, epic BEYBLADE battles, a PLAY-DOH creation zone and the MY LITTLE PONY magical world of Equestria. FANmilies will be able to take photos with props from Hasbro’s movies and step into a custom-built NERF battle arena, maybe even with the guys from DUDE PERFECT. HASCON will also host MAGIC: THE GATHERING gameplay featuring an exclusive preview of the upcoming Iconic Masters card set. Just those first four of the guests (Stan Lee, Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, and Andrea Libman) alone would make going to Hascon worth it. But those ticket prices are enough to turn me off on going.

I don't know Ms. Libman, but sweet Solus Prime..... those tickets are more expensive than Botcon, all without any mention of Transformers exclusives or reveals. Easy pass.

I don't know Ms. Libman,

She's currently the voices of Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie on MLPFIM, but I alo know of her roles from other cartoons I grew up on, like her voicing the young AndrAIa on ReBoot or LaBrea on DinoBabies.

I say this asumely that you still have to buy autographs and other jazz sepretly.

Not to mention hotel and travel costs, food and amenities, and any toys/merchandise one might want to purchase at the event.

If I were to go, it would be for one day. 60 for adult and 30 for kids tickets is quite pricey. This is an easy pass

Wow... Well this just became and easy pass. About the same cost as the golden ticket but with no toys, no nothing. Just access to evening activities and panels? Big whoop. Sorry Hasbro, this was a huge mistake.

You dont have to buy the big expensive ticket. You could buy a 3 day pass.

Meh, when I was in school, the most well-off families would take trips to Disneyland during the school year because it was cheaper. When I was a teacher, the most well-off families would leave 2-3 days before Thanksgiving or Christmas breaks because flights were cheaper. The people willing to spend the money taking their family to this don't care about the school year.

I do find that this part sucks though:

We ask that you not* bring personal items to be signed. Artists and talent will only sign event merchandise purchased on the day of the event. Proof of purchase, such as a valid HASCON receipt, may be required.

So Stan Lee cant sign your old Fantastic Four comics? Kinda defeats the purpose. (then again, when I met Stan lee at a dinner, the only comic I had of his to sign was What if #200 :BANG_HEAD:

My biggest issue now, is the same one I have with G-Fest (The annual convention for Godzilla fans). because now it will most likely be in the same location each year. Which is about as far away from me as you can be. At least when Botcon changed locations each year, I could count on it coming relatively close every few years, now there is no chance of that.

So technically I could spend $600 on the VIP badge and only get a mystery gift bag to show for it since all of the other benefits aren't guaranteed? Sounds great. :roll:

Kinda wanted to go, but I was expecting a lot more from this seeing as how the convention center is literally right outside Hasbro's door. I expected the celebrity list to be more than four people as well. Sure, Cullen and Welker are a big deal, but that's all you've got for Transformers fans at a 3 day convention?

I wish they'd put a real schedule up. I want to go to this, but it'd be pointless to drive down on a Friday if the only thing I'm interested in is Saturday night or Sunday morning. No matter what they call this it still doesn't feel like a fan convention.
