There isn't any chain now that has that kind of clout on the market, or the stability that would be needed.

Yeah we do. EB Games/Zing. Same owners. EB Games specialises in those video games kids play these days, Zing was more pop culture but they've started to blend together (to the point both stores some times inhabit the same retail space)

I honestly thought there would be a retailer like that. Your population base is substantially larger than Australia, you have major (not official) conventions.

I really am amazed that the UK is screwed over like this.

I don't know how or why it happened but I'd say hasbro UK is just a shadow of itself, a far cry from the early nineties when we got showered with exclusives. Now, they just seem to be a window for UK retailers to make requests for stock from hasbro and that's it. Nothing at how they can cultivate the fandom here. I mean haslab is a symptom of the issue here, as there's less and less places to find stocked Generations figures. If I knew where to start it's an issue I'd like to look into (I'm aware that the British ordering system is markedly different from other places, hence why it often seems like we miss waves)

Unless Hasbro unveils another big reveal related to this figure, the counter likely won't get another surge until closer to the end, when there's more urgency again.

It's interesting that they've been silent since the deadline extension nearly two weeks ago.

I would have thought they'd be pushing it more.

Could be that they're still discombobulated. I think Transformers 6 getting shelved kinda threw the HasLab project team for a loop. Had that movie been released this summer like it was supposed to be, the preorders for this would have opened to a wave of fresh Unicron hype, but since that didn't happen I think they've been making up their marketing strategy for this as they go along.

I just had a thought that could, admittedly, just be wishful thinking, but what if, in addition to ensuring that the figure gets made, they extended the deadline also because they just thought of something else that would be cool to include with this figure and needed the extended time in order to make this new thing and show it off to build up more hype before the deadline?

Like a face with the Junkion ship smashing into his eye? I'd also like to see that planet that Unicron munches in the beginning with the vacuum effect.

Entirely possible, and I would hope that's the case.

Not just "well ****, we didn't reach the deadline, let's extend it and ummm...what else should we do to promote this?"

I’m thinking something could happen or be added/revealed the week of Comic Con. Hmmm. Not really much else I can think they could do other than maybe a price reduction.

I know I'm a little late on this bit of Unicron discussion (for some reason I've been having trouble accessing Seibertron the past couple of days), but the reason Zeta is able to make a kibble-less robot mode is because they didn't care about actually making the planet mode surface movie accurate (which would mean darker grey planet body, lighter grey polar caps, and orange maw and equatorial strip). If you look at what robot mode bits and details end up where in robot mode, you'll see that the coloration and whatnot will be a lot more all over the place than it should. That's fine, because it'll still probably look cool, and it's worth it for what they're going for, but it's unfair to say Zeta's is overall "better designed" than Haslab's because Hasbro also had the priority of actually getting an accurate planet mode, which necessitated more distinct shell pieces to form it.

It's pretty easy to make a movie accurate Planet surface if that surface just folder onto the robot model's back and side of legs

No kidding.

Yeah, they've been really, REALLY silent. It feels like they should have done a fansite-like photoshoot with shots with recently released figures, comparisons with other Unicrons, and even with other, unreleased, Unicrons to keep this on our radar. Kinda like how MPs are teased, actually.

I guess they must have run out of marketing budget?

Speaking of budgets, my washing machine just broke. If only they could make Unicron bigger, available straight away and be usable as washing machine :(
I'd settle for him being a usable waffle maker, clean clothes arent as important as waffles.

The point being, I'm not sure what your point is.
