Help identifying vintage or KO Prime cab.

Postby juise » Wed Dec 17, 2008 12:56 pm

So I picked up a Milton Bradley Prime from ebay. While the cab and roller are MB the Prime cab is not. It seems to be the "french" mold which is also the mold used for the KO Prime. I have various pictures comparing it o my vintage Hasbro Prime. If anyone here has a KO Prime I really need your help.

Can someone with a KO prime please post pictures of the back of the cab like the on at the bottom with the circle, and a picture of the inside of the cab where the windshield is held in?

The plastic and die-cast are a damn near perfect color match which seems odd to me. The arms seem to only ratchet when moved up but not down. The rear tires on the right side seem bloated in the middle. Almost like an overfilled tire. The wheels on the left side are really loose. Like the peg isn't pushed all the way in. The larger portion of the screw mold in the back of the cab was filed down to allow clearance for the head to fold down. Are the narrower tires Normal for this mold? I also noticed that the "rivet pegs" on the windshield aren't pressed in. Finally the rims seem to have a tad less detail. Maybe it's paranoia but the more I think about it the more I think KO. Is the head the only way to tell the KO from the original mold?

The more differences I see the more I think KO.

Here are some pictures comparing the cab I got to a vintage Hasbro (Hasbro is always on the right).

How much did you pay?

It might be just your photography skills but the colours on this one look real nice.
I have the French version with red feet.. And yours just looks too new. The chrome on mine has aged well, but is nowhere near as shiny and happy as yours. Was the toy boxed? The stickers also see to have aged in a way that is completely different to mine.

$170 shipped from Europe. It came 99% complete in a Milton Bradley box, metal side trailer, silver roller, and 2 silver missiles. I know at this point its been at least partly repaired/part swapped. It has two different gas tanks, and the pins in the shoulder gears are broken but no longer inside the arm.

Yeah, currently looking for a good g1 junker to do some part swapping myself. At some point in my childhood the shoulder broke... but the part should be identical in all OPs.

I was looking at some pictures of the black prime knock off and it looks like the back part is the same shape as yours... where you said it was filed down. This is probably the strongest clue.

Still it looks pretty nice. What did the seller say when you questioned him?
