I've bought a new PS3 controller today but it's not working. I'm not even sure if charging up though the USB cable connected to the PS3. Any suggestions?

With the cable attached, put the PS4 into rest mode. If the controller's light gives a very slow, steady pulse of orange light, it means it's charging.

There's also the small possibility that your USB cable might be defective. Try using it on a smartphone or a camera, and see if it charges those.

Good luck; hope this helps some.

You may want to read the thread title a little more closely.

And yeah, it could be the USB isn't so great. Best case scenario, you just need a new USB cable. Worst case, you bought a dud of a controller.

My bad.

Somehow, I'd just subconsciously assumed he was talking about the PS4 controller.

LOL, at least it's not as bad as the infamous "wicked bible" incident in 17th century England where a misprint of the ten commandments read, "thou SHALT commit adultery". You couldn't even catch that with a spell-checker even if they had word processors back then.

Sorry been busy. Took back controller got a replacement and the same problem happened. It wasn't even powering up and I hit the PS button, reset it, and hooked it up everything so I took it back as well so now I don't have a controler for my PS3.
