If we're playing one-ups... I SAW ALL OF THESE IN PERSON AT TOY FAIR UK. So there. [-(

But, as we're here: what do you think of the new Pohatu? It's the only one I kind of want to go for.. :-?

I still had pictures before toy fair, with preproduction package art : P

Pohatu is decent. He's the shortest one of the bunch, and doesn't have too many more parts than a protector. It's kinda odd getting used to the constant change in the shade of brown lego uses for toa of stone. However, this one is closer to the original, in that it's closer to the brown the original tohunga hewkii. The only thing I wish, is that A. He had new feet or add ons to emulate the 2001 "boots" and B. Came with a soft goods scarf, for some reason the pattern on the toro print looks like parts of a tattered scarfaround his neck. Of the four toa I have, Gali, kopaka, lewa, and Pohatu, I have to say gali is the best of the mid range price, point, and kopaka is the best of the high range price point.

That is what I keep seeing around boards and reviewers (Kopaka and Gali, I mean). But I really like the asymmetry in Pohatu, and the Toa Mata/Nuva was such an odd one out that it stuck with me.

I'll see if they still have one at TRU in a bit.

And your thoughts on the skull line? I'm tempted by the Warrior, again, for the asymmetry, plus the same mask as Grinder with lower price point and excellent poses from what I can see.

Yeah no they're all great, just gali and kopaka really use the piece budget aand construction the best. Lewas probably the most least good if that poorly worded phrase makes any sense. He's good, but has some odd clearance issues with how high up the gear box is on his back.

Yeah the skull warrior looks like a good army builder like the bohrok or rahkshi depending on which part of the bionicle cannon you want to follow. I would like to if the bow can be modded into more of a crossbow, as is it's a bit off looking. I want to like skull slicer, but from an aesthetic view point I'm disappointed in the reuse of the skull spider mask even if it makes sense in story. Skull scorpio really need to be a 20 of even 30 dollar set. Say what you will about rahi, whether they be tarakava or fenerak, but they were better for their price point. I like skull basher dumb name aside. I'm glad they went for a different technic assembly for a different function, but it makes him look too broken up. Skull grinder and akimu look great, what looks better is the combo model with skull scopio.

Rahkshi are my baes.

I need to dig out my Stars when I pop back to Italy, and bring some with me to the UK (I know they're not amazing, but it was a lovely parting gift to the franchise before it broke up). And they take less space than the entirety of the collection I have of Mata, Nuva, Takanuva, Makuta, Rahkshi and Bohrok, that's for sure.

I feel 12 again. This is amazing.

Rahkshi were badass even if they were clone sets. I only got the white one, but that was all I needed. Until 2015 when I found out about bricklink and found I could get all of them for under 60 bucks. Anyhow I think like any set related to makuta where **** metal as **** dude. Rahkshi, turaga dume and nuvak, roodaka, maxalos and spinax, the phantoka makuta. I remember on the back of the final issue of the ignition comic, there was a teaser for the phantoka with the makuta and toa looking like something out of a Gerald scarfe print, it looked great.

Yeah I have a lot of bionicles, however I think i only completed the toa mata and nuva toa teams. From then on it was just whatever I thought was cool. The sets I still want to get are nehdiki from 2004, and roodaka from 2005 who was like every bionicle fans waifu at the time.

Pohatu cares not for your average coolness. Pohatu claims it for himself. And makes it better.

This is me (belatedly) making good on that promise of new pictures!

And then I spent a bit finally getting around to that kaita MOC I've been wanting to do!

The only problem I ran into is that I couldn't double up the legs, since none of these sets come with the double-ball-cup bones, just the standard asymmetrical ones.

I wasn't originally going to include the Pohatu head (or its creepy spine), and it may come off next time I look at it, lol. It really looks better without his noggin' hanging out in the middle. The inside shoulder armor comes together way more nicely than I could have even wished, it looks really good...when there's not a head hanging out there.

'scuse me while I go take Pohatu's head off.

 Glad to see there are some other Bionicle fans on here! The Skull Grinder (apparently his name is actually Kulta) and Scorpio are probably my favorite of the villain wave. The Skull Basher has one of the most interesting gimmicks I've seen in a while. And Va'al one of my favorite thins to do with Pohatu is act like he can straighten out the boomerangs and use them as swords.

I just found out there are more/new Bionicle stuffs: Power of Unity!

Though the excitement waned pretty quickly, as they're not convincing me that much. Anyone have one of them yet? :-?

Well of the little guys, the green one is objectively the best, with the others varying by degrees of personal preference.

Kopaka is great though, I definitely like that they wizened up and made his metal color silver rather than gold; and his torso piece looks good in white. There's a ton of molding on that thing.

It's a big thing in Transformers with stuff like Scourge's Sweeps, the Insecticons and the Vehicons; but have any of you guys ever tried army-building in Bionicle? Watched a Skrall review recently and got to thinking a display of Tuma, Stronius and three Skrall would be awesome (with maybe 4 Atakus flanking them?)

Sounds pretty cool! I always want to do that as a kid with the Skrall, just get a bunch of them... thinking about doing that with some of the newer skull warriors if they keep showing up at discount shops. I will warn you about the late "G1" Bionicles though, the female ball joint parts are super fragile on them. I have so many Bionicles that I'd like to display but can't because crucial parts are broken on them. Just be aware of that if you're buying them open.

Thankfully, you should be able to use the newer parts, as they'll be physically compatible. Might not be able to find all the odd color variants though.

Yeah, I've kinda lightened up on the Stars myself. It was either those or nothing, and given that Lego basically never does this (give a line a final round before axing it), they're actually pretty impressive in retrospect. We got an official (if diminished) look at what Nektaan and the Rahkshi of Heat Vision looked like along with a few decent pieces - including a Hau with an axle, both in red and gold. Tahu himself is actually the same size as the 2001 Toa Mata so he can stand in with them funnily enough, even if the style does clash a little.

Personally I would've loved to see all the Mata as the Stars - if only because I'd love a Gali - but for what it was this really wasn't terrible either.

I miss the Toa Mahri and Toa Inika. I own 3 Bionicles: first was Inika Matoro, 2nd was Mahri Hahli, and the 3rd was Carapar.

Love all in a way. Lost 3 of the 4 blue orbs from Matoro, though I love how tall he is. Wish he had hands though. For some reason, he is one of the few white robots that I actually like, seeing as how white is not a color I appreciate too much on mechanical beings.

Hahli was gorgeous, loved the wings she had. Really put me in mind of her and bumblebee teaming up. But then she ha 2 joints break: one for the wing, one for the foot. tried gluing but didnt work. so now she has no wings and is stuck standing straight with no chance of posing.

Carapar is my favorite. Love the crab look and I loved using his claws to crush people. Was also fun to have Matoro impale him and cut off his head. Ah good times.

This was when I was in middle school, so I never got around to collecting, but I'd like a new Hahli and maybe to finish off that group of 6 Toa someday. I liked that group, and the books were fun. Jaller and Matoro were a great combo to me, and I loved the Barraki. Wish I could get the remaining 5 of those beasts
