Prowl might have known what would be found and wanted to keep the Cons from finding it, and viewed that as a bigger threat too. There's a couple of different plausible scenarios, but the most likely one is that Prowl was compromised and used the Autobots to allow the NAILs into to get to the Dead Universe portal.
Somewhere within this stream of consciousness is a near perfect answer, but this is only half of the story. What do you think the new discovery in the throne room has to tell us?

Holy Unicron. Something in there was right?!

*rereads the wrap up* Since I'm pretty sure we're not getting a new coder... Is it another Reset? And end to this version of the war?

 Nope!
Thankfully, none of those things are happening - the game won't be changing as a result of this tourney. (Well, not to that scale, anyway.)

Think I may have alluded to it in a previous post, maybe even the in the previous round, but the answer is definitely out there.

So after some "careful" reading, I think the infected is CtrlFreq and the bots, having won the previous round, knew what was down there and wanted to keep the Cons out and were mostly ignorant of the NAILs threat. Or viewed them as the lesser threat. Also someone(s) high up in command may or may not be Reaver agents. Hard to say if it's Bot or Con or both. Especially with the defections. I'm also pretty sure that that Arsehat priest is working with the Reavers. But that's neither here nor there for this. I don't think Prowl is infected, that seems to obvious. Absentee Prime might be, or he might have been replaced with Nemesis Prime and gave out the orders. Which would then lead you to wonder where is Prime. This is all crackpot theory though, with absolutely zero proof to support it.

*edit* Also not convinced a war wide reset isn't looming. It's been almost ten years since the last right? Or just over ten years now? With the game being up for around 16 years?

I like this theory.

Though with Christmas looming, will the next round be taking place in the new year?

And, finally, the results and rewards!

♫ Its all about that bass, that bass, that base, no treble ♫ - Arcee's Anthem for 2018 song of the year!

We're back for the last time this round, and this time we definitely have some news you might actually be interested in!
No, it's not about the epic novel Steve2275 is writing, or another glorious piechart from everyones favourite rabbit traitor - it's the final results from the War of Violence; the winners, the losers and the benefits you will all receive from fighting so gosh-darn hard around the Sonic Canyons to prepare for this so-called Reaver onslaught.

So here to present the results, it's WPI's own bloodsports fanboy simpleton correspondent, Hard Wired!
Translated from Neanderthal, Hard Wired wrote:

UH.. one, two, THREE ROUND TO GO!
A convincing win for the Decepticons there to tie the series so far, but how will the next few rounds go? Keep your optics on WPNN to find out, whilst we try and find a less monosyllabic sports reporter (resumes now being accepted.)

In other War of Violence news, the Senate have made yet another address to the combatants of the HMW, and we have no choice but take you there live as his self-importantness, CEO and owner of WarPorn Industries has an announcement. Take it away boss!
Psychout wrote:Citizens of Cybertron, we have two important matters to discuss, both of which affect the security and safety of our planet.

The first of which was brought to the Senate by Ultra Magnus, who has now confirmed speculation that one of the Autobots in command during the battle for the Violence region had indeed been compromised by the Reavers virus.

The Autobots have released this urgent briefing today.
some dude called Optimus Prime wrote:

(Artists impression)
Autobots, effective immediately, you are to cease any operations previously under Prowl's authority and refer back to Iacon. We no longer believe his actions are his own, and scans taken by Ultra Magnus during his attempted arrest show an exceptionally high level of alien toxins identical to those used by the Reavers. We have no idea how many NAILs he may have led into their trap, but if seen do NOT attempt to encounter him. I just hope those non-aligned he handed over to the Reavers can be saved. Be careful out there.
'Till all are one!
Ugh. That means Zero won the RDD sweepstake. I was so sure Magnus was compromised as well!! He's going to be smug about this for weeks...
Psychout, who never shuts up, also wrote:...the other news we bring is much more positive. After extensive tests in quarantine and compatibility, as well as a few energon transfusions, our new friend discovered in the Throne of Vir chamber has recovered consciousness. It may take many weeks find out everything we need from him, but as a reward to both factions for their hard fighting and dedication to the Cybertronian cause, we will be uploading his schematics to the altmode database allowing those of you who wish to test out a new class of combat model - the Vicious Monster Class.

Details on this schematic are below, it should be available at the weekend and for the following week as core, and then will move to the common rotation until this current Campaign is over. Enjoy!
Vicious Monster Class

Bite 2000 / (Avoid 1000)

meta: please note that this new alt class is a test, and admin reserve the right to alter it without notice if required. More alt images and other tactic combinations may be added once this test is complete. You may also find some of the other Bite classes changing a bit in the next few weeks to bring Bite in line with the other four tactics.
Well, enjoy your new toy HMWarriors!

Well be back with Round 3 after Christmas, but keep watching as we may just have a surprise in store for you over yuletide to keep you entertained!

But for now, this is Zombi Cheerleader signing off!
'Til all are rich!

And there ya go everyone, Round 2 is now complete! :D

Now if only the bot's alt rotation is fixed, though.. still just seeing cores and rares, haven't seen any commons since switching over.

New alts are added in, can a 'Bot player confirm if the Vicious Flying Monster is showing up for them? It's working for the 'Cons and both are set up the exact same way.
