skywarp-2 wrote:Howdy y'all. Well this is one of my first posts from being out of the Transformers collecting business for a long time after selling off my collection. I have recently purchased a number of masterpiece figures, and after watching youtube reviews, I finally bought an MP-10 Optimus prime, tho I went with the Hasbro reissue.
The reason is because the Hasbro looks more in coloring like the cartoon, and it's eyes show signs of life, however after looking at Apollyon ver. 2, I am going to order, I realized that the helmet worn for controlling a doppelganger prime was a pretty cool thing. After rewatching that episode BTW, direct TV, discovery family is running all the classic G1 episodes and GI Joe as well. The thought has occurred to me that If I can get the Takara Tomy, loose or not, I would want that version to play the doppelganger and can add him to my decepticon shelf as well, and use the takara darker colors and lifeless eyed version as the mind controlled Megatron doppelganger.
Of course you could get the MP-10B and do it, but I like the idea that nemesis prime is autonomous, and not a lifeless copy, which is how I see the Takara Tomy version. However, with the helmet accessory from Apollyon, it makes the Takara Optimus relevant again. Funny how one little accessory can add such a great twist to collecting.
Any thoughts?

shajaki wrote:I'm not sure it has anything to do with relevancy, but rather personal preference. I had the Hasbro MP10 first and was quite happy with it. Then I decided to become an MP completest and snatched up Takara's MP10 the last time it was reissued. And I'm tellin ya, I shockingly fell head over heels in love with Takara's. I hear "dim eyes" a lot, but in the right light, they're actually quite stunning.
I had bought that Takara MP10 with the intention of making his eyes G1 toy accurate yellow, but couldn't bear to take out those clear blue beauties. So I ended up buying a second Takara MP10![]()
All that said, you idea for having a second MP10 specifically to be a drone is a neat idea

shajaki wrote:If I may just play devils advocate, Takara's MP10 is actually the most cartoon accurate. The lights on the roof of the cab aren't yellow in the cartoon (most of the time), his blue actually is that dark (see the screen cap you have), and his windows aren't necessarily blue either. I think its mostly based on personal preference. I made the same mistake, Takara's blue just looks so dark that I assumed that Hasbro's was the closer to toon accurate (until Sabreblade corrected me).I have a few more than threeskywarp-2 wrote:Wow! so you ended up with 3 Mp-10s!! that's awesome!![]()

Oh... the only thing consistent in the G1 cartoon was its inconsistencyskywarp-2 wrote:anything in G-1 cartoon is subjective as the cartoon itself was always inconsistent
I don't have any need for a bigger MP10, and I kinda got my hands full already being an MP completestskywarp-2 wrote:I absolutely love your MP-10 collection! fantastic! I have to highly recommend the MMP10 Wei Jiang ver.. totally awesome~!

Well, there is the fact that the original cartoon images online are older, and the remastered his colors I have from the Madman DVDs looks more like the Hasbro.. but then again, anything in G-1 cartoon is subjective as the cartoon itself was always inconsistent.. I do remember seeing the yellow on the show a few times, and the IDW comics, and even the Transformers Devastation game have the yellow now.. It's funny tho, I was misremembering allot about the show until I started watching it again recently on Direct TV (Discovery Family). I absolutely love your MP-10 collection! fantastic! I have to highly recommend the MMP10 Wei Jiang ver.. totally awesome~!

I'm not a 100% on what figure he came from, but probably. I got it from my buddy who's favorite anime is Eva and he collects toys too (once upon a time anyways). He had a little box full of accessories and he told me to go nuts. They're all mainly from Chogo and Revo's I think.Delta Magnus wrote:shajaki wrote:
Heh heh, is that a Revoltech Mass Production Evangelion's sword I see your Eva Prime clutching? Noice.
