Heavy Metal War is Seibertron.com’s very own ageless struggle between Autobots and Decepticons. With all of the dedicated Transformers fans this site attracts, it’s difficult to understand how the game this site hosts is so underplayed by its members.

Please note this statement is in no way intended to offend or chastise anyone for not playing, I’m just wondering why there are so many regular posters on this site, but so little of them venture into the trenches of the Heavy Metal War.

Is it because the game doesn’t have enough exposure on the site?

Do people not have the time or care to play something in between browsing and posts?

Is it because it’s hard to understand the mechanics of the game?

Are people just not interested in text based, countdown timer, random number generator styled games in 2018?

Do we smell bad over there? (I can’t speak for the Decepticons, but the Autobots have decontamination chambers installed at the entrance to Iacon.)

Is it something entirely different?

As a Seibertronian who has come here for years solely off the strength of the HMW, I would like to hear feedback from other regular perusers of the site to gain some insight into why more people dont play HMW.

I'd like to know this too. If it's just a lack of access to the faction forums, hit up Burn, he'll usually have you hooked up within 24 hours (if not sooner if you time it right).

Both factions have small bout vocal and friendly communities that are desperate to give new players help to get them hooked (one of us, one of us!).

We have an ongoing tournament to gain control of Cybertron, each round is a different and interesting game, new players always welcome!

I did think about joining years ago but realised that I would have trouble giving the game the time it deserves. Also I have no luck with random generators of any kind :lol:

I had to start from scratch 2 months ago and today got my first level 3 so it's not impossible to grow quickly.

That’s understandable. Feel free to check it out whenever, though. To play you just have to:
1) Create a transformer.
2) Give ‘em somethin to shoot with.
3) Give ‘em somethin to shoot at.
4) Check to see how badly you got your aft kicked.

There are no activity requirements, you play at your own leisure and there’s no penalty for leaving your team unattended for any length. It’s really whatever you make of it.

No pressure though.

I share this sentiment. The good thing about HMW’s rng though, is that you can play around with it by implementing different attribute loadouts to your team of bots.

I also heard a rumor that Burn was giving out experience boosts to new commanders who introduce themselves on the HMW forum. This should take a player’s ‘bots from level 0 to level 1-2 almost instantly and is a really good way to just jump in guns blazing for anyone who doesn’t have a lot of time on their hands but wants to experience the best aspects of the Heavy Metal War.

Until such time as you can edit Missions and allow 0's some mixing with the rest of the game it's not a bad idea.

I started in December of last year, and I already have mostly level 4-5's and a level 8

There are a lot of people willing to help you get there!

Also, the great and mighty RNG gods can be cruel, but they can also be very benevolent :BOWDOWN:

There are a good number over there, but it could be more. Certainly isn't the bustling place it used to be a decade ago, but that seems to be the case all over the site.

Many of us just came back after a long time away and we're eager to add some new blood.

Currently there are only a hand full of each side that is also on the forum, several more that play but do not visit the forum. We've been trying to get creative, and make events to keep people having fun so, come join us. Have a good time. Get creative. Feel free to be a hero

I've been inactive for many cycles (various reasons here and there ... uhhhg life)

HMW has brought forth so much creativity that the characters and concepts i created 15yrs not only have been incorrporated into TF cannon and lore, but more importantly its become a family activity.

My kiddos who were weee small at the time have grown up on the stories i would tell of our characters and have assumed their own and even begun their own teams and stories :-D

*note haven't signed up yet but fully intend to, just been ideas in my head for the twelve (un)lucky bots (or maximals, a full 12 mal team consisting of wolves if I could make it happen would be awesome)

i’m a fan of howl-y creatures as well. have a look through these two threads to see what you like.

off memory, i can tell you there’re probably 14 “wolf-like” alt modes in the whole game, split between both factions. so you’d have to either re-use a few or, if the alt hunts are re-instated at a future time, hunt for the rest of the alts you need to complete your team. that’s what i did.

I used to play years ago but stopped, I don't have enough time between my real life, work, playing Pokemon GO with my family or playing Marvel's contest of champions at home to fit it in.
