How to Deal with Phone Scammers

One of the drawbacks of taking care of my grandparents is I'm always fielding calls from scammers that target the elderly. The most recent one which woke me up from my nap said that my Windows license is about to expire and I need to call them back and give them money. The number they gave me to call them back was 1-855-601-0009. I already called and when the Indian guy told me to turn on my computer and tell me what it said, I responded with "It says 'suck it you stupid bastards this isn't even a good scam'" and blasted him with an air horn. Help me continue to give these bastards hell, and tell me how it goes.

After repeated calls where I just held the phone up to the Screaming Sheep and other obnoxious sounds on maximum volume, they blocked my landline and both my cell phone. So until I can borrow another phone, I pass the baton on to you guys. Again, that number is 1-855-601-0009.

While it might be fun (and I do love pissing off telemarketers and scammers) if I called them, they'd have my phone number. These days that's almost like painting a target on my back for these kind of people. So I'm not sure it would be worth it. Now, if they called me 1st, then that meant they already had my number, so it would be fine if, as Deadpool would say, "Daddy needs to express some rage."

I'm fond of replying to them with an equally shady scam, along with an outrageous accent. Or I pick up the phone and immediately say something like "Do you have the goods from my stash?" or "I don't like loose ends Marko, see that he gets what's comin' to him". Shuts them up pretty quick.

I love to (and this really screws with the windows scammers) pretend I don't have a computer and then ask them the nature of their insinuations, they get all flustered and keep asking you whether you have a computer... it's fun to listen to their confused bluster, but I like the air horn idea :-?

Feedback from a pair of walkie-talkies is my new favorite trick.

Why didn't you just report the number to the proper... O wait, I forgot, this site is still filled with nuts.

I always wanted to use Liam Neeson's speech from Taken personally. I mean I've had it written down and rehearsed, but never followed through with it because I don't want them to think my phone is "working" and if they get an answer, supposedly that's how they keep dialing it and what not. Thankfully haven't had too many of those as of late.

I have done some very not pg13 pranks on phone scammers so I will omit those while on the forums.

Of the things I feel comfortable sharing I will say I have:
Flushed the toilet in their ear
Put them on "hold" and subjected them to Kidz Bop as "hold music"
Screamed into the phone like I was doing a metal solo
Blew a whistle into the phone as loud as I could
Pretended to be interested in their scam and kept them busy only to hang up at the last moment before giving out any info of mine
"I don't have a telephone, I'm Amish!"

I love all of these.
