Maybe it's just year's of repeat playing having etched a strategy guide's worth of info into my brain, but I find Link to the past to be a pretty easy game, at least when I play it now. Still, once you've spent your childhood playing it, that sense of wonder, awe, and "what the **** do I do next?" is kinda hard to rediscover.

Phantom Hourglass does look cute. I'm interested to see how they implement the plot. I've seen only one trailer for it but when it comes to Zelda games, do you really need to see it ahead of time before you play it?
I'm not a huge fan of the wiimote-style playing so I played Twilight Princess on the Game Cube. I thought it was interesting that in the Wii version, Link was a righty but they mirrored the game for the Game Cube to make him left-handed.
I was a little disappointed that Link wasn't a stronger character in Super Smash Brothers Melee for the Cube. I think he's one of the best video game heroes but he's difficult to use in that game.

Really? He's probably my best player in SSB...some of the others when I haven't played it in a while take some time to get back into the game, but when I play Link, it's as if I never put the game down. Games like SSB, though...everybody has a different style of playing, & some of the characters just don't work for some & are great for others. Me, I'm great with Link, Captain Falcon, Gannon, Samus, but I suck with Mewtwo, Ness, Luigi, DK, & a couple of others.CasaDeSuenos wrote:Phantom Hourglass does look cute. Actually, they mirrored the WII version. Link has always been a leftie. They mirrored it for the Wii because of the way the controller functioned.
And Twilight is my answer. Ocarina and Past being a very close tie for 2nd. Damn, Twilight was worth the wait and then some. And it still had it's let downs, but only towards the end. Great, great ride.
Buy my RiD toys! They're awesome, I promise!!!!

I love all Legend of Zelda games equally.
If I had to pick one that is technically the best, I'd take Majora's Mask. No game has ever compared to how real the world of Termina was. I don't think any scene in history compares to when the Four Giants gathered and caught the moon. And personally, I felt the end was FAR more climatic than the end of TOOT.
The biggest knock against the game is that it reused a lot from TOOT, but starting over from scratch would have been a really stupid move.
Of course, Wind Waker is really close to both N64 Zeldas. Everything about it was great. Whether you like the animation or not, you've just got to respect it.

Especially since the primary goal of making that Zelda game was to see if they could churn out a brand new game in under a year. (I believe that is also why they based the game around time restrictions). The Chaos Bringer wrote:I love all Legend of Zelda games equally.

I think I like the ones most people dont,
My favorites were all the gameboy ones and Wind Waker and Zelda 2 (whatever it was called),
and I absolutely hated majoras mask and the original Zelda.
Most of them are boring for me, I really have to push myself to keep playing and beat some of them.
I'm waiting till I get a Wii untill I play Twilight Princess.

If I had to choose one Zelda game to play for the rest of my life, it would be Link's Awakening on the Gameboy. It's a lot of fun and a little tragic at the same time. Poor Marin.

I wish more people liked Link's Awakening. I feel it's completely understated and not given due consideration. It had plenty of adventure and, yes, it tugged on the heartstrings a bit (I also feel bad for the ppl on the island).
I think the mini-quests in the game that involved trading items to lots of different people made the adventure really fun and also added a tad more difficulty. After the first time through, it was easy to remember who got what but in the beginning, you have to explore and talk to everyone. I think it was where the idea for all the trading in OoT came from.
I did enjoy running through Twilight Princess but after I played it, I wasn't sure why so many people were fans. It was graphically amazing and it was of a decent length but it didn't quite go in the direction I thought it would.

I heard a rumor that Dark Link is going to be in Brawl. *insert appropriate amount of excitement here* I was happy to hear that Link and Zelda were both going to be in Smash once again but I had no idea they were going to add Link's evil counterpart. I await the release of the game with glee that would challenge that of a little boy waiting to get off the school bus on the last day.

more than likely dark link will just be a different color for link....or possibly he'll be like he was in Melee where he's just a extra character for the challenge mode.CasaDeSuenos wrote:I heard a rumor that Dark Link is going to be in Brawl. *insert appropriate amount of excitement here* I was happy to hear that Link and Zelda were both going to be in Smash once again but I had no idea they were going to add Link's evil counterpart. Zelda 2 would be my pick, great soundtrack, challenging, with sidescrolling and RPG elements all rolled into one package.

Though Dark Link would be cool, he could be just simple costume change or clone. And I'd like to see Omni Link a little more. Kicking ass with that wicked sword. Makes me want to go replay MM.Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:more than likely dark link will just be a different color for link....or possibly he'll be like he was in Melee where he's just a extra character for the challenge mode.CasaDeSuenos wrote:I heard a rumor that Dark Link is going to be in Brawl. *insert appropriate amount of excitement here* I was happy to hear that Link and Zelda were both going to be in Smash once again but I had no idea they were going to add Link's evil counterpart. Omni Link would be freaking sweet. I'd love to see him in Brawl. It does not stir up any feelings or thoughts of replaying MM, however. I can't imagine wanting to play that game again anytime soon. I like my controllers all in one piece.

I agree, I thoroughly enjoyed WW very much.
Wind Waker wasn't the best game in the series, (Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time tied for that respect) but it was better than a lot of other games.
I was not a big fan of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I like Zelda, and I like sidescrollers. But in no way do I think those two concepts need to be mixed.

It did do one thing that the non-3d zelda games failed to deliver on, though: more intricate swordplay. Dueling with the Iroknuckles is still good fun.Shadowman wrote:Dinobot wrote:Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:TWW?? Do you mean Wind Waker? Oh yeah, something else it let you do: Jump. I wish even the 3d ones would let you do that....jump at will, & not just automatically when you walked off a ledge or did a sword attack. That finishing strike in TP would be a hell of a lot cooler if he could get some height on it first.

I didn't care much for the Wind Waker either, too much floating around on your boat, and the dungeons were boring. Twilight Princess though was a great ride! I love everything about it except the ending came abruptly and Ganon was way too easy.
I wish there was a second quest that went further into the game where you were required to power up further and fight more challenging enemies—sort of like Symphony of the Night when you discover the upside-down castle. Something like that.
