This is probably a dangerous thing to admit here of all places, but I don't collect G1 figures. There's just too many and I'm too poor, and I feel if I'm going to collect something I should do a proper job of it.

Then again this is Fortress Maximus.

Pre-ordered. :D

TomyTakara will most probably change Encore Fortmax's screws with rivets. So don't worry about substitutions. Same thing with the Encore Convoys, you can tell the difference from the year 2000 issues over the ones before. First is the mold degradation on his left back , just right of his shoulder and the different front wheel axles.

And of course the new copyright embossed differently.

On another issue, I'm again noticing a trend among our "jaded" collectors.

What would you expect for the design and price? Hence Encore ....re-issue of a late 80's designed figure. Expect it to be blocky with limited points of articulation reflective of the technology of those bygone days. And the price? Don't you guys have a sense on the logistics needed to restore the molds, packaging and transportation cost? And of course, the bottom line Tomy will reap from this endeavor? Toymaking is a BUSINESS for profit and not charity >:oP

Iirc, Fortmax more or less broke even for both Hasbro and Takara waaaaaaay back in 1987 given the size of that bruiser so the present SRP of US$ 350 + is quite justifiable (factor in inflation/deflation)

Also....

Who the heck is going to buy an Encore for $350+ just to switch out parts on an original Fort Max, then sell it????

If cretins CAN substitute Generations Wheeljack for FOC Jazz and the like, smart money is some unscrupulous vendor will also attempt this stunt. I remember a few years back when some jerks repainted a couple of Godginrai's black and sold 'em as limited pieces?

Btw, I am NOT fanboying, pimping this latest release............I am just full of HAPPINESS and Sunshine that Tomy will allow other fans to OWN one.
('cause I already own one)

Encore Fort Max: WANT IT! But... still too rich for my blood. :-(

MP Rumble and Ravage: Wait, so these two are MP-15? Does this mean the Convoy silhouette was an error? Also, it makes sense for this Rumble to be red, since the Japanese dub of the G1 cartoon went with the RIRFIB toy colors by swapping Rumble and Frenzy's names around to make the blue Frenzy character be the one who showed up often instead of the blue Rumble character.

Japanese Generations: Glad to see the line expanding for Japan.

New AM Prime toys: Hmmm... I'm not so convinced on the name "Darkest Megatron", as BBTS got the name "Megatron Darkness" wrong by calling it "Darkness Megatron" instead. So it could be "Megatron Darkest" instead. As for Jet Vehicon General, this is something I MUST see.

Fort Max and MP-15 are preordered over at bbts now, though will keep those as a place holder till release since I'm not sure where I will be living when they get released. Will get them off RK when I do.

Question. How long should it take until Encore Fort Max's preorder sells out?

I really really want it, but it's just not in the budget right now (and I don't think I've ever paid that much for just one figure).

And, is it even the slightest bit possible for the price to go down at all? Or even go on sale?

I know that this is world's better than the prices of a vintage Fort Max, but it's still out of a good price range for me.

It's enough to make a guy wish he had been alive in the 80's when Fort was only $99.99.

So I hate to rain on everyone's parade. I know it is exciting that Fort Max is coming in April 2013. But remember the world is going to end on 12-21-2012. One question, what time zone does the world end in? Like when it is midnight on the east coast on 12-21-2012 it is still 12-20-2012 on the west coast.

Just a bunch of Mayan shenanigans trolling our scientists.

Not to get all religious (and off-topic) here, but the Bible says that no one, not even the angels, knows when the time is; only God.

Back on topic before Burn yanks my eyes out...

Not really too excited about Fort Max (gasp!). I think it's pretty cool, but at $360, I can get MP-10, Halo 4 Limited Edition, all five Combaticons, and a couple replacement Energon figures I've desperately needed for years.

Also, BBTS is the king of the mark up. Captured Prey have already posted that they will have it and for a lower price than BBTS.

If it is an Encore like they claim it is, they will accept all preorder requests until the item is shipped to them. After that, they will try to get more in, and that means no guarantee that the hardcore collectors will get a chance to obtain a "mint" box.

That is all I can tell, and I hope that reassures things for you. Plus, I have 100% decided that once TFsource has it up for preorder... I am going to do what it takes to get mine. Mostly because I missed out on getting Twincast in a mint box, and I am even pondering if missing out on Sixshot was a wise move.

Oh, and also... The latest Kerokero Ace that debuts the new Transformers manga is out. :michaelbay:

:-B When you do the math and adjust for inflation, a Fort Max from 1987 is worth about $214 of today's dollars. So even then Fort Max was expensive. :-B

Back then, for the Price of Fortmax ($ 100.00), you can purchase 3 full grocery carts of food. Now, For that amount, barely 1 full.
