Addiction to transforming - only really the one scene in this issue where it happens.
Blind devotion to Megatron's writing - probably being set up in this issue, with Pax recommending it to Roller.
Music/sound/spark manipulation stuff - not much in terms of that yet.
Point one percenter - yes, that's there.

The shape sort of fits, too. And the March solicits bring the DJD back to the fore, too.

I love speculation. :D

There's totally plenty of time to build the not present traits into Roller to make him Tarn. That's why I can see it. Of course, who knows, we could be wrong and Rollers dead. But there's always that 'who knows what happens to him after that scene ends'. Since we really don't know who was up in that ship hovering up above the field.

Well, the Roller theory suits me fine, but couldn't Tarn also be Dominus Ambus? He's supposed to be Minimus' "brother" yeah? Well perhaps he's a loadbearer too and Tarn is a suit, just like Magnus. It'd be just as much a punch to the stomach for Rewind, let alone us.

And that ship might be another reference to the Necrobot.

With Dominus, at least as far as the new, altered history is concerned, Dominus is a victim of advanced Empurata/Shadowplay, which leads me to believe his importance lies elsewhere. Not saying you're wrong, just that I don't agree yet, based on what we do know.

As for the Necrobot, why would he want to destroy a bunch of "unborn" sparks? What little we've seen of it hasn't shown a capacity for violence, just an obsession with death. (Then again, neither has it shown us anything to the contrary.) To me, being obsessed with death is different than having a thirst for blood Energon. Now again, not saying you're wrong, just speculating.

True, very true.

Weapon: Battle Blades
I really have a love/hate thing going on with this issue. As a standalone, love it - great character interactions and a fun plotline. As part of the whole? Unless I missed something, I don't see how this really did much. Which probably means that I missed a lot of somethings and will realize that in about five issues time.

Don't worry, Scotty. The only thing you really missed was the entire discussion where we basically agreed with what you just said. ;)

But seriously, that's not an uncommon consensus; good read, little progress.

Been a long while since I posted and apologies if this is a given but no one seems to have picked this up.

When they did the whole memory thing to ensure the timeline wasn't corrupted it wiped all of the memories of people they targeted for want of a better word and not to spoil the story.

Well this would have meant when they came to and Roller was missing they would have had no memory of him and may well have left him however his memory would be intact and would have a burning memory of being abandoned by those he considered friends. This could well have lead him into being disenfranchised enough to consider the Decepticon dogma?

It certainly throws up more paradoxes etc as if Roller is Tarn then this means the crews meddling has enabled the very situation that allowed them to chase Brainstorm in the first place with the DJD killing everyone, sort of like a self fulfilling prophecy.

Thoughts?

Any one notice roller's in a similar pose of crushing someones head with his bare hands, as that of Tarn crushing Swerves head in the "Slaughter-Hause"?

When Roller was getting shot his left eye got tagged as well. And Tarn has damage on his left eye... These theories are giving me so much to ponder about :-?

I was finally able to catch up on all Transformers comics today, so now no more fear of spoilers from the forums!

It's interesting you say that, but I always thought Roller got turned into Shockwave. However, I just went back to read Shadowplay and I was very wrong. Then the dialogue of Orion explaining who Megatron is to Roller might have been what lead him to adore Megatron so much that he started calling himself Tarn? That is assuming that in the original timeline Orion talked to Roller about Megatron.

I really liked this issue despite it not having that much progress, there was a lot of content that Roberts gave us here. Based off the way Rodimus interacted with Trailbreaker I guess it's safe to assume Kaon did kill him??? I know this was brought up in issue 34's thread, but it was never obvious if Kaon crushed the brain, took it with him or left it on the ground for the others to recover.

I personally like how Roberts approached this, it's leaving everything into the air with a bunch of teasing. Also, the Whirl and Rodimus discussion about Brainstorm's lab was absolutely hilarious.

I wondered where you were hiding, John!

They pretty much pronounced Trailbreaker dead in #35. So all our hopes of him not being killed by Kaon are gone. I was really hoping that Chromedome would not wipe his memory so he could remember what Rodimus said, cause I'd like Trailbreaker back, but I can understand why Chromey did it. Even one person left with the memories could be a problem.
But then I guess the Lost Light crew all figured Roller was dead.

I just don't think that Roberts was trying to hide it... I really do think that Roller is Tarn. He has an addictive personality, a few physical similarities and well, frankly, previously we never were privy to what happened to Roller (where we?).

Edited because I typed Tarn instead of Kaon yesterday, yeah, I could have left it, but catching that as I scrolled past bugged the heck out of me :/

I think it was an accident that Trailbreaker got his memory wiped too. I think Chromey was going to avoid him but Trailbreaker shook his hand on his own. taking the initiative to saying goodbye and shake hands with Chromey as he was hesitating (TB is pretty friendly). Chromey looks kinda shocked and sad when TB is shaking his hand too.

Yeah it was Trailbreaker feeling left out for not getting a proper good bye like everyone else. Chromedome looked sad/worried when TB grabbed his hand, then Rodimus screaming No!! made it much more emotional.

ctrlFrequency can you remind me how it was official in #35 that Trailcutter was dead? I don't remember it being alluded or stated at all is why.

CtrlFreq, we really havn't seen anything of Roller in the present. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, during TF: Escalation, the drone thing named Rollerfrom Optimus Prim's trailer saved O.P. from Megatron, but there's never really been any tangible connection between the two. It's probably best not to put too much thought into it.

Unless...

Unless it turns out that all this speculation is simply a wild turbofox chase set by Roberts: making us believe Roller may be revealed to be Tarn, when in fact he's so badly damaged that the only way they can save him is to remove his core consciensnous and put it into a little wheeled dron.

Or maybe I just thought about it too hard.

James Roberts confirmed that Roller was a separate person from the other Roller, the drone, in an interview. This was partly to mess with us by having someone so different from the Roller we knew, partly to suggest that Optimus named his drone after someone, and partly to give Orion Pax a friend who's no longer around so we'll wonder "whatever happened to Roller?!"

my thoughts are that Roller was Pax's cojunx endura - Prime naming his drone and personal ship/shuttle after him after 4 million years or so is pretty impressive dedication

Few questions for all you sagacious types. Sorry if all of these things have been asked before!

- Has Rodimus just helped assure his own birth given where the sparks were going?
- Does the shape of the hot spot reinforce the idea that he is 'The One' / linked to Primus?
- Will Roller/Tarn get his abilities from the Outlier experiments mentioned in this issue?

About 4 million years I think.

I also had a weird thought. I wonder if Tarn/Roller could actually be the mole in the DJD...

That would be interesting, but I doubt the Autobot would plant a mole that would be as merciless as Tarn. The guy has tortured and mutilated countless Autobots and Decepticons, which goes against the Autobot way of treating people.

But they are all like that. Not one of them has mercy. Hard to say which is the worst. Whomever the mole is they have to do what it takes to fit in with the rest. Even if it means doing all that horrible stuff  I guess it comes down to who could actually do all that stuff. Roller and his need for relevance and contributing could play a big factor in how far he's willing to go (if my theory is true of course)
