RE: Soundwave's presence. I had assumed it was just because Ramjet wanted all the Decepticons to kowtow to him, and either the writer or the artist included Soundwave in that panel because he's really popular or liked the character themselves. I'm not sure that Soundwave is up and about just yet but I wouldn't rule out the panel having some significance, either.

As for Ramjet's body parts...it's possible Megatron did leave them around as bait. For whom, I don't know. Maybe just for anyone interested. I'd imagine the government would probably try to claim them but we already know, as you say, that Skywatch and the Machination are taking Transfomrers. Also, we know Ravage is out sniffing for fellow Cybertronians. I wonder if he'll find them.

anyone else forsee a 4 way power struggle/battle between skywatch, the machination, megatrons forces and shockwave when he finally gets back on line????

Maybe Ramjet's part are truly the bait that he is using to lure the other players out of the game at the moment....

You know, I'd totally forgotten about Shockwave (and the Dinobots). Does Megatron have anything to tie Ore-13 to Shockwave yet? I can't remember. I know he suspects "evolution had a helping hand".

A clash between Megatron's forces, the Machination and Skywatch would be interesting. I can't help but wonder what Skywatch intend to do with any other Transformers once Ravage has located them. I also wonder how much the Machination knows. If they knew about the Autobots and managed to observe them and their Ark, do they also know of the Eureka discovery?

But what would Soundwave, Shockwave et all want with parts of Ramjet? They could be very useful for squishies, but I would not think they would be as useful for the Transformers. I guess we will see in due time.

Who says that Skywatch is not a branch of the Machination? (personally I do not think they are, but I have the feeling they may end up working together)

And I think Megatron has a theory that Shockwave has something to do with the ore-13 he aint as dumb as his G1 cartoon self.

Certainly, I think Megatron suspects Shockwave was up to something. I would imagine Megatron's suspicions formed at least part of the impetus to instruct Bludgeon to examine Shockwave's current and archived projects.

NARRATOR: He is all that ever was. He is all that has been...and all that will ever be. He is everything and nothing, everywhere...and nowhere. He is -

BANZAITRON: An Action Master? I'm an accursed Action Master? I can't even transfor - hey, a cool crab-like vehicle thing! Whee!

Could anyone really watch Soundwave? He has already proven that he has no qualms in "destroying" (reformatting) his boss. I guess Megatron does trust Soundwave, or does not care for him either way (since he does not seem to care that he has been missing for a while)

You raise a good point there. Hardly anybody has even acknowledged Soundwave's existence outside of his spotlight, with the exception of Optimus Prime discussing Bludgeon's files. I would have thought that Megatron would have made an effort to find Soundwave given that he trusted him enough to spy on Bludgeon (who was effectively spying on Shockwave). Of course, we don't see the inner workings of Megatron's mind and it's possible he has already set in motion a plan concerning Soundwave.

There is also the 20 years between when Spotlight Soundwave takes place to present time to fit into the story.

Bludgeon now knows megatron sent soundwave to spy on him but Megatron doesn't where (not directly said) they all ended up.

On screen all we know is Shockwave goes missing.

Megatron sends Bludgeon after him to look into his work

Megatron sends Soundwave to go after Bludgeon.

The only one who returned was Bludgeon with all the facts so it really was up to him was story he spun back to Megatron.

I'm of the belief that Megatron is clueless and when Shockwave and Soundwave come back on line there will be much information sharing going on and "revalations" a plenty.

Still be nice to actually a flashback to how it played after with Bludgeon leading up to Stormbringer so we can see how much Megatron knew, maybe theres a dead universe angle to it we've yet to see???

I'm now at the point where the wait till the next issue for any little crumb of information is killing me

(spoiler free)

Got my copy of Dev #3 in the mail today.

OH...My...God.

I love how Nick draws Wheeljack and Hotrod. His style suits them so well! 'Jack and Hotrod are very 'Roche' translatable. I don't really like how Verity's drawn in some of the panels. No offense to Nick, but she's kinda scary. >_<

Overall, it was an awesome issue! The second to the last page was pure butter.

Because I'm evil, that's why.

Nah, I'm just kidding.

The last two pages are my favorite. Second to the last page shows the Ark-19's crew emerging from the water to save Ratchet from Sixshot (that panel is pure butter) and then the last page shows the Reepers planning to go to Earth and destroy it (with/without Sixshot's aid) and then there's an exchange of words between Galvetron and...NEMISIS PRIME?!!!

You don't see his face or even his body, but that was definatly a WTF moment. At first read I read it and thought "Nova Prime" but on my second reading I was like, "wait a tick...Nemisis? Oh hell yes!"

The only thing that bugged me was that the dialoge between Galvetron and NP is swapped, ad it Gav's speech is directed so it looks like NP is saying it and visa versa.

Nick Roche did a fantastic job on this issue. Props to him and Mr. Furman. Devastation just keeps getting more and more Awesome! :D

Damn you Neko!

Cannot wait till tomorrow to go nab it!

And did anyone else go back and re-read Furmans blurb about Devastation #6?

Simon Furman wrote:Actually, I’m saving LM for something else BIG that’s happening in 08.

(LM being the Liege Maximo for those who do not know)

and if that was not enough to get my feeling like a giddy school-girl, then

Simon Furman wrote:As for UM, he’s got his share of big battles/confrontations coming up. Look for him to feature BIG in 08. But, like people have said, it won’t be the same UM vs Galvatron dynamic. In fact, it’s something very different I have in mind.

That makes me faint in the middle of assembly!

Its defo Nemesis Prime??? Maybe Nemesis Prime is Nova's new name? Either way i know what i shall be doing on my lunch break tomorrow...winding my merry way down to the comic book store to get a new piece of the ongoing puzzle that makes up the dead universe saga.

Is it just me or does anyone else (old enough to remember) feel this is a slight homage or just reminds them of the old marvel strips UK 306 - 319:

You had multiple plotlines all coming together nicely and somewhat unexpectedly

Galvatron plucked from the future
Grimlock on Hydrus 4
Starscream and Shockwave's rebelion
Megatron/Rachet Monster
Prime and Scorponok's alliance

I tend to feel Furman is at his best when writing these stories and you pay attention to every little detail cos you just know the most trivial thing will have huge impacts on the other storylines.

Thus far in the IDW verse we have

Reapers - somewhat weird aliens who we have yet to figure out their purpose

Dead Universe - The lair of Galvatron and Nova Prime. Something to do with an expansion phase

Liege Maximo - Experiments on TF's

Machination - Possible headed up (no pun honest...) by Scorponok

Skywatch - So gonna get splattered when the big players arrive

All the rest of the day to day storyline of Prime and Megs...

Can't wait till this all comes into one "Apocalyptic" issue :P

We kind of know what they believe is their purpose: To end war and conflict by completely wiping out that warring civilization.

Add in Jhiaxus experimenting in the "normal" Universe, Ultra Magnus and Dealer coming back into the fray and yeah, I would have to agree, 2008 is looking to be fantastic.

I wish I had that conspiracy type thing in my head that allowed me to speculate as well as some of you.

When I'm really into a comic, book, or even fanfics, I tend to block any possible thoughts that could spoil it for more. So my capacity to try to guess what may come in the IDW ongoing serise is vertually nothing.

And we got another Mosaic printed too! I believe the mosaic in question is Debuting tomorrow on the net.

Red Cordial helps! :P

The Cover of Spotlight Arcee has been released with a pretty much unidentifiable bot massacred at her feet.

Also given us a nice good look at those other characters to appear in her book...

We should probably be posting this stuff in the IDW discussion thread though!

I think the dead universe crew can't exist in our universe for long periods of time, otherwise they would have overun us by now.

The plan involves being able to exist in our universe and doing so requires them to be alive, just my guesswork.

I'm very eager to get the next copy now and see what the reapers actually do next

Yes, that is entirely possible.

I hope that the Reapers do actually shift into gear in the next issue. I'm keen to get a few more details on their methodology and practices, to see how they actually do their business.

I'd like the Ravage thread to be picked up again. Will he find other Transformers? Will he find Soundwave? Is he really under Skywatch's control?

I'd also like to see Starscream reappear but with a little change in personality. Maybe his recent beating at the hands of Megatron re-instills that controlling fear he spoke of in Infiltration. Perhaps we could have a Starscream who now has a full appreciation of Megatron's power and is willing to serve without ulterior motive. At least for a while.

I like that theory, very plausible, and also very Furman-esque.

From this thread:

The idea with Headmasters is you pretty much double up on reaction times and so forth. And everything’s heightened, sensory-wise. Guess it just makes for a more effective warrior.

That kinda help anyone's thoughts and theories?

Also from the same thread is confirmation that Nemesis Prime was Nova Prime, not that we all did not know it before.

Also Furman gave hints about the Dead Universe having gone through some changes. Perhaps it is dying and Ore 13 is needed to revive it or sustain it?
