If you were like many other people watching Dark Of The Moon, then you were mesmerized by the pure destruction and devastation the movie brought to Chicago. Visual effects supervisor Scott Farrar and Digital Production Supervisor Nigel Sumner talk about the complexities of those scenes. The video can be seen on thedaily.com.

thedaily.com wrote:The driller itself, a companion to the Decepticon robot Colossus, is possibly ILM’s most complicated CG creature to date, with more than 70,000 parts.

“He’s comprised of 16 individual assets,” said Sumner. “He has a head, a body, but he also has five arms, three legs and a tail, a lot of which you don’t necessarily gain on an initial viewing.”

Ultimately, the driller’s menacing combination of spinning rotator blades, knives and teeth make short work of the skyscraper.

the "ARMS" are around his head, they have the saws, and the "legs" are arount the middle, more towards the back. they don't do a whole lot though...

Shouldn't that be Shockwave? Colossus might have been the working name for the bot in production I suppose.

I have been a transformer fan for a long time and would really like to see at least three more movie that go off the existing ones ( NOT A REBOOT) .for the first thing I think they should finish the movie story with a two part story ( part 1 and part 2 ). This could show how the war finally ends, Unicron trying to destroy earth to stay alive, megatron, sound wave and two vehicons seeing what they have done wrong and try to stop Unicron with the Autobots and live in peace on earth. Cyclonus trying to kill megatron after hearing that he is leaving the deceptacons. I think megatron should have had to follow Unicrons orders or he was going to destroy cybertron AKA blackmail. I think it would be cool if two transformers for instance could combine into a bigger robot (like in transformers energon). I would like to see more transformers talk at the same time as the human characters (they did it well in dark of the moon but I would like to see more). Unicron should start trying to eat the planet, making buildings collapse and reducing the amount of gravity due to his pull on the planet.

For the third movie I think it should be a prequel. It could have all the Autobots and deceptacons from the movie that where destroyed and put them back on cybertron showing how the war was started, how their planet looks, and works. Why and how megatron found the Fallen and turned evil, how Que/wheal jacks face got contorted and rebuilt to look like Einstein. How Arcee three forms turn into one robot. With a prequel we could see all the transformers vehicle forms on cybertron. But they should still be colored otherwise every one would be the same color and that would be boring. We could see how megatron crushed bumblebee’s vocal processors and he should also be voiced by Johnny yong Bosch who did the voice for Bumblebee in war for cybertron. I think they should also bring in thunder cracker and sky warp in the prequel. That way we could see how star scream and his brothers worked together on cybertron (it would be weird to have them in the last part of the movie with out star scream).

Below I have compiled a list of transformers I would like to see in the two part movie and their vehicle forms, except for the existing transformers that did not die.

Autobots
Optimus prime with trailer
Bumblebee
Sideswipe
Dino ( do not consider mirage )
Lead foot
Topspin
road buster
Jolt ( needs more screen time AKA Ratchets assistant )
Ratchet
Wheelie ( to cool to let die )
Brains ( to cool to let die )

Ultra Magnus (Transformers into a white peterbilt 389 with blue vehicle trailer/ still looks and transforms like Optimus with out trailer )

Kup transforms into a rusty old light blue ford 1980s F150 ( I thought this would be cool because he’s old but still has the same G1 color )

Hot Rod Transformers into a crimson red 1990 Lamborghini Diablo (still debating on this. in other word I DON’T WANT RODIMUS PRIME …..)

Springer transforms into a Blackhawk and 2012 ford F350 ( this way he doesn’t mess people up with Iron hide (R.I.P) )

Omega Supreme transforms into the Xantium ( I thought and was hoping that this was going to be Omega in the movie but to my disappointment it wasn’t )

Grimlock transforms into a skeleton Tyrannosaurs Rex ( concept by Simone Maganuco & Sergio Rocco and Que/wheel jack should have built them on earth before he died but never activated them)

Swoop transform like grimlock but into their respectable forms (Que/wheel jack built them on earth but never activated them.)

Slug transforms like grimlock but into their respectable forms (Que/wheel jack built them on earth but never activated them.)

Silver bolt transforms into an F-35 (I liked silver bolt in war for cybertron and would like to see him in the movie. But not looking like breakaway I hate that design )

Blaster transforms into three human male break dancers and one carries a
boom box that resembles G1 Blasters alternate form ( just a idea .thought it would be cool since he always loved music )

Steel jaw transforms into anything like laser beak

Ram horn transforms into anything like laser beak

Eject transforms into anything like laser beak

Hound transforms into a dark green wrangler jeep ( we need our tracker )

power glide transforms into A-10 warthog

Warpath transforms into Israel’s Mercava tank .( awesome tank )

Decepticons

Megatron transforms into a new 2011 black cab Mack titan with silver tanker trailer and black tarp for cowl (P.S this is my favorite form of
megatron and I’m tired of seeing him each time with a new form.)

Sound wave transforms still into Mercedes SLS AMG but respectably blue like G1 counterpart (possibly navy as to stay with the deceptacons darker colors).

Rumble transforms into anything like laser beak

Cyclonus transforms into a cybertron jet (to replace starscream but more loyal to megatron )

Tryptacon transforms into Kansas City (it a good sized city but not to big to make it impossible to defeat him.)

Bliztwing transforms into a tank and f-35 ( bring on the triple changers )

Astrotrain transforms into a D9 train with four carts and Saturn V( I did not want people to get confused with the Omega being the highly modified shuttle and it also being Astrotrain so I changed it to Saturn V)

Tidal wave transforms into an air craft carrier (I liked tidal wave in armada and thought it would be cool to see a giant air craft carrier off the coast transform.)

Unicron transforms into a planet that’s about the size of our moon ( I did not want him to big because that would not be fun )

Vehicons which are like a clone army that Unicron created and they all turn into Nissan GT-R black edition ( I think the vehicons would be a good addition to the movie and I also like them in transformers prime .)

The dump truck from Dark of the moon (I really like this guy a lot).

I have also compiled a list of transformers that should be in the prequel movie.
Autobots
Optimus prime
Sentinel prime
Iron Hide
Ratchet
Jolt
Bumblebee
Jazz
Sideswipe
Dino (do not consider mirage)
Que/wheel jack
Arcee
Leadfoot
Topspin
Road buster
Ultra Magnus
Blaster
Eject
Steal jaw
Ram horn
Hound
Springer
Silver bolt
Kup
Hot Rod
Skids (no speaking parts)
Mudflap (no speaking parts)
Power glide
Warpath
Tracks (kill)
Sunstreaker (kill)
Elita-1(kill)
Chromia (kill)
Trailbreaker (kill)
Cosmos (kill)
Preceptor (kill)
Mirage (kill)

Decepticons
Megatron
Starscream
Shockwave
Driller
Soundwave
Laserbeak
Ravage
Rumble
Bone crusher
Brawl
Barricade
Frenzy
Sideways
Crowbar
Crankcase
Hatchet
Tryptacon
Blackout
Octane
Astrotrain
Bliztwing
Tidal wave
Devastator
Rampage
Demolisher
Long haul
Mixmaster
Overload
Hightower
Scrapper
Sky warp (kill)
Thunder cracker (kill)
Reflector (kill)
Ratbat (kill)
Beast box (kill)
Squaktalk (kill)
Breakdown (kill)

I would think it would be really cool if they did a two part movie to finish the story and then a prequel on cybertron.

Yeah, I agree, that was totally off topic, and way too many Transformers. Lets keep it small, but good, 5 to 8 bots on each side.

But back to topic, am I the only one that just sees the driller as eating up too much of the budget that could have been used on a good ass kicking between Optimus and Shockwave, or seeing a good fight in Chicago between Sideswipe/Dino against Soundwave and Barricade or some other prominent Decepticon. I don't know, maybe having this knowledge in the back of my head kind of derails the whole "driller is awesome" from my conscience.
