Re: Images of iGear MP Prime trailer
Uh, has anyone noticed it's a little too tall to fit realistically with MP Prime?

WHOA.
I want this, but it'll probably be too expensive. Still, awesome.

As I previously said, this is a fine looking peice of work but we REALLY need to move on from the whole Optimus-Prime-Trailer thing...It's starting to get really boring...

A MP-2 Ultra Magnus transforming trailer would be awesome as it hasn't been officially done. I know I've seen a custom before, but I'd like to see a mass produced good quality one. That would be great!

Optimus Prime: Great... but how are we gonna explain to capellamusic the hole on his wall?
Megatron: Hmm... a free natural air conditioning system?

It isn't a copy of the MP-04 trailer, it has details inspired by features of the THS-02 trailer but is not a direct copy of it either.
If it's not at least a partial direct copy of the tooling of an original item, it's not a "knock off", and it's obvious that this doesn't directly copy the tooling of any previously released OP/Convoy trailer. It's just shaped like, you know, a TRAILER.
It's like the difference between a remix of a song and a cover version.
I'm not against it and I have some KOs, although very few. But this is a KO, just accept it. It's not 'what is it supposed to be like?', it is done to represent the MP-4 trailer for those that don't have it, it's to be used with the MP Optimus Prime, so of course it has to look like that, thus looking like the original trailer, thus a KO. It's not a whole new custom figure. I just say that this has to be called what it is. I would really like to see what TakaraTomy would say about it, they are the ones that can best decide if this is to be taken as a KO or not. But in my view it is a KO, and it seems it will be a very good one.
BTW, I showed my sister the MP-4 trailer and this one and she thought it was the same thing. See what I mean? This is a copy with some modifications, just like many G1 KOs. And I find this more KO than that Shockwave KO I've shown above because it is way more similar to the original, at least that's my opinion.
Again, I'm not against it and I hope its price will be good so that everyone can have a good trailer with his/her MP Prime.
So out of curiosity, do you consider the FansProject trailers to be KOs? Why, or why not?
Also (and forgive me if this seems snide) but your sister is not very obsrvant. There are obvious differences between the MP-04 trailer and this proto (the most blatantly obvious difference being the completely different ramp mechanisms).
I know we're arguing semantics here, but the term "knock-off" gets thrown around a lot and there's not a lot of consensus on what the term means. My personal connotation is that a KO is cheaply-produced and is at least a partial direct copy of the original toy's tooling, with or without resizing. Any other definition is going to become really vague really quickly.
Is any TransFormers item not produced by (or produced under license) by Takara and/or Hasbro a KO? How about if it's a TransFormers charcter that was previously not made as a toy (Impossible Toys' Quintesson are a good example)?

Re: Images of iGear MP Prime trailer
Some are saying this is a KO of the MP-04 trailer. Others are saying it is a KO of the THS02. You are both right. I own both the MP-04 trailer and the THS02 one. The MP-04 trailer is actually a poor copy of the one on THS02 prime. The internal and external details of the cargo container are exactly the same. MP-04 has a different ramp and a less detailed teletran 1 and no roller. The support beams that extend out to support the sides of the container are not spring loaded on MP-04 as with THS02.
I purchased THS02 before I purchased MP-04. I was actually a bit disappointed with the MP-04 trailer. It truly is just a bigger version of THS02 with fewer frills.
If this unlicensed trailer can retain all of the cool features of the THS02 trailer but be of the size of MP-04 (maybe even bigger), it will be a major win. I may even be tempted to buy it.

I've been looking for a good deal on an MP-04 as of late, since my 20th Ann Prime isn't doing so well.
Maybe I'll get this instead.
Time will tell.

He's taken a few dives in the last couple years. One of his legs is majorly scraped up and the megatron gun was forcibly dismantled in one of the falls.

Yeah, when he falls, he falls hard. Diecast and gravity do not mix.
If you ever need another, I've got one MIB.
