I'm not a Diaclone collector, but I can imagine this definitely adds value for those that are.

Nice move, Takara. Nice move.

Agreed. My interest in this fig from the start was for the Diaclone element.
For what could've just been a straight re-paint, they have given a few nice touches to it.

Seriously though, I cannot buy this.

(can I?)

YES WE CAN!

Personally, redecos representing unknown characters don't do it for me. I'd rather they produce more units of Sideswipe & Red Alert. I still don't have them and they are too expensive on eBay.

Sorry, man. If you miss the boat, you miss the boat.

I actually like their current strategy. Production costs are probably lower getting full use out of the mold quickly, and I do like the variety. Same thing with Prowl/Streak/Smokescreen.

I just wish HasTak would release Skywarp in the new seeker mold already. Though I'll get Hasbro's Acid Storm, they really ought to be completing the core seekers lineup.

Yellow Sideswipe is yellow, called Tigertrack.

I know TF's come mostly from Diaclone & Microman.

But the characters and stories come from Marvel (correct me with a crowbar if I'm wrong)
Marvel=Da West.

So the original designs come from Japan, the story and soul comes from The West.
Diaclone/Microman didn't have a tv show, Transformers did.
Diaclone is dead as fried chicken, Transformers 4 will be in cinemas next year.

Speaking of Diaclone, I do wish they used Browning as the mold for Megatron. He had the best robot mode of the 3 Gun-Robots. Megatron being the ugliest imho.

Now Takara, pls remake Megatron (not so skinny and with a better head) pls :D

^^^ So much of this.

I've been waiting for an acceptable G1-styled Megatron for years. I recently sold my MISB MP-05, due to the new MP scale. I despise Classics/Henkei/United voyager Megatron, and while HasTak WFC Megatron is awesome (especially the United version), a non-tank G1 version is much desired.

Since they look to be filling out the original '84 lineup, Shockwave/Reflector/Megatron are hopefully in the pipeline...

But I'm not holding my breath.

I really don't see very much facial difference tween Red Alert and Sideswipe.

It is EXTREMELY minimal. I didn't even notice myself, and I have Sideswipe and Red standing next to each other, it's this very news post that made me aware of it :D But I do appreciate TT doing it regardless 8)

All correct (Blunt and paraphrased, but correct) ;)

Not necessarily. I can understand why it would get people's backs up, especially since this has been an issue since Sideswipe was first revealed. A yellow Sideswipe does not a Sunstreaker make, not to those old enough to know and love him ;) We may be creaking at the joints but we are still here :D
Regardless...every news post labels him MP TIGERTRACK...

Well, Tigertrack will be playing the role of Sunstreaker on my shelf. That is, until we hopefully get a proper release of Sunstreaker. This is one of those rare instances where I don't mind two figure that don't look alike sharing the same mold. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker are twins after all. And from what I understand, Sunstreaker was originally going to use this mold, and Sideswipe was going to use Sunstreaker's.

I agree is very slight. Too bad they didn't have additional and less subtle faces to use for Tigertracks.

I think the exclusive release of Tigertrack is more a 'lets make full use of what we already have' kinda thing. I do agree with a previous poster that said it would have been cool to have given him Red's Wheeled shoulders. Then Tigertrack would've been a true mash up of both characters :D

That's how it was, yeah. And re-purposing any figure into any character for our own shelves is cool beans. It's the assumption from some that Takara would officialy re-paint G1 Sideswipe into G1 sunstreaker in a line that is SPECIFIC to the animation that's a source of contention :)
The original Universe line had Sideswipe and Sunstreaker as re-paints of each other (from the RiD Prowl fig) so it's not a foreign notion for the 2 characters to be treated that way. But the MP line is going out of it's way to be as close to %100 accurate to the cartoon as it can.
I admit my first thought on getting Sideswipe was he needs someone yellow next to him :D Seriously though, I should not be affording Tigertrack!

Does anyone know how you can identify a KO Masterpiece Tigertrack from the real thing? Is there anything different with the boxes? What about the toys themselves?
