See, some of us are thankful we're even getting a movie. You are pushing it. People like you are the ones who will kill the franchise, with your unwillingness to accept change. You're the ones who scream and bitch and whine until you get what you want. The sad truth is that it's the exact opposite; If we oppose oppose so radically, we'll never ever get anything Transformers again. Hasbro will look at the movie sales, and see that we're so uninterested, that it's not worth continuing.

So open your eyes, it's not all about what you want. If you're so obsessed with people recognizing Transformers as only one style, then you're the one killing this franchise, not Michael Bay.

And that's not my opinion.

Who the hell is Bardus? :???:

I think the subtlety of posting something in latin was wasted.

G2 to Beast Wars.

And my point was that none of the G1 changes originating in the original movie were really all that well received, including Galvatron. Beast Wars came about because G2 was a failure, whereas the movie changes were made when G1 was at its peak and they wanted to push new character merchandise.

Why not just ban Bluebullet? Then everyone wins.

The people who like the movie will be rid of the annoyance, and the people who don't will be rid of someone ruining their image.

It's the way you come across. You act like yours is the only right opinion. Anyone whose opinion differs to yours is instantly wrong and not a real Transformer fan. You're not even open to considering the opinions of others, you dismiss them instantly.

This is a discussion board, but it's hard to maintain a discussion with you when you sprout the same anti-movie attitude all the time.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to pm someone about a bridge for sale.

-edit-

Should also add that your anti-movie attitude is what kills a lot of discussion in this forum. Take this thread for instance, it was about battle masks, yet thanks to your anti-movie spooging it's turned into a discussion about you. See the problem now?

Can do.

I think the "helmets" are just extra layers of protection for the mouth, eyes, etc.. Which makes sense to me.

When you say it like that, it makes perfect sense.

I didn't think of that before.

Why don't we have that on our troops in real life?

the way i see it, the battle masks probably not only have extra sensors and a greatly improved targeting program, but also probably serves the same purpose as the tail of a cat....if you see it in the air, its not out to get you, if its down, its on the prowl.

But why? Wouldn't it make more sense for an advanced robot species to have these already built in and not a add-on option?

Perhaps. I think it adds more protection in battle, but isn't good for showing emotion.

it could be that when the mask is down, it just activates the sensors, however, it could be a power saving trick, basically have the sensors running on or just below optimum performance, but when needed, the more complex energy drainoing sensors are activated.

that or it is a refeence to a greeting of mutual beings, in times of old, when friendly knights would meet eachother, they would raise their visor as if to say this is who i am....that or i really need some sleep.

Let me throw this out there:

What about Classic Jetfire? He has a helmet/battle mode, why can't movie characters have it?

I'd like to think that the Movie Transformers were originally all peaceful and rather domesticated. Having the battle mode may be their way of powering up, but they may not want to remain war machines for the rest of their lives. Hence, that being why they just don't stay upgraded to battle mode all the time.

However, in the same line of thought, I would think that the Decepticons WOULD want to remain in Battle mode all the time since they are the aggressors.

So, basically I'm indifferent to the whole Battle Mode debate. Parts of it I like, parts I don't. However, none of it is worth while to get riled up about though.

True, though I must say I always felt Classics Jetfire's 'battle mode' was just a nice solution so that Hasbro could make a toy that could be either Jetfire or Skyfire. A best of both worlds kind of quality.

I just figured it was so they could keep a resemblance to G1 Jetfire's head without getting sued by the current license holders of Macross.

Bottom Line, i think the whole battle mask thing for this movie is kinda silly, and granted i see that it could be a good emotion tool, or simply the animators felt it looked cool, but honestly their robots at war, what purpose, unless they eat or kiss would they need to open their mask and show their mouth?? it just seems really silly and useless to me. Besides the regular faces look like crap compared to the battle helmet versions..

in some cases, I wouldn't mind if they kept battle mode permanently (bumble bee and jazz mostly, they got the short end of the stick on looks) and if the battle mode covers the whole face, then all the decepticons too

something to bear in mind is the fact that all we have seen is static images of the "downtime"faces so we honestly have no idea of how well the faces emote.so it becomes kinda redundant to say the faces look retarded from just stills.
