Is sam/shia le bouf, the Wil wheaten/wesley crusher "loathed actor" of the fan base francise?

Postby dinogeist » Sun Jul 03, 2011 11:40 pm

SPECIAL NOTE: THIS IS ALL MY OPINION. I don't present anything below as official facts.

sometimes fans know & can easily PREDICT stuff. based off similar circomstances & previous cases/examples. as everything seems to run on the same cycle. that more than often keeps repeating itself over & over.

Is sam/shia le bouf, the Wil wheaten/wesley crusher "loathed actor" of the fan base francise?

I remember the most "loathed" by the fans Star trek next generation cast member/actor was wil wheaten/wesley chrusher. to the point the show creaters had to get rid of the guy. due to him mocking the fandom at conventions/interviews. and his poor acting skills in the TV show.

So my question is since the star trek francise fan base has their most loathed actor/cast member.

It is a safe bet to assume sam/shia le bouf is the most loathed actor in the TF fan base, in the films & in interviews? similar to the role the fans of star trek gave wil wheaten.

before sam/shia leo bouf, most TF fans dis-liked the fake fictional daniel character from the 1986 movie, season 3/4 & the japanese headmasters series.

I Suspose the star wars francise has those 2 actors who the fan base dis-likes. the 2 who played anakin skywalker in episodes 1,2 & 3.

Another interesting question I ask everyone in this thread. Can a loathed actor from a high rated francise that is dis-liked by the fans. have any chance at a successful career afterwards doing non-TF related movies/shows?

I ask that above question because usually when a high rated fandom from a francise dis-likes the actor. word gets around, the guy isn't beloved,no one wants to hire him. he's got no fan base. gets more angry letters than positive letters.

Just look at wil wheaten/wesley chrusher from star trek the next generation. the show got rid of him half way thru. he wasn't in any of the star trek movies. he was in poor rated/low budget un-noticeable movies/shows.

The star wars episodes one,two & three, actors who both played anakin skywalker are rumored to be black listed, can't find work. and got told off by fans at star wars conventions for almost ruining the star wars francise. thanks to their bad acting skills.

I honestly think the only real reason shia got put in several movies other non-TF movies while filming transformers 2007,rotf & dotm. is because micheal bay asked & put in favors to dreamworks & steven spielberg to please hire shia leo bouf. in that indy movie & wall street movie. all in a desperate attemp to pump up shia le bouf's acting resume,so viewers would be impressed & go see the 2007,ROTF & Dotm Movies. thinking their was a high profile actor doing these TF movies. SADLY that strategy back fired since shia leo bouf's bad acting skills got mocked in that indy movie & that wall street movie.

Without micheal bay putting in & asking for favors to dreamworks & steven spielberg. Shia le bouf won't get anymore high rated movie offers. SURE he'll get some movie offers but they'll be so low budget productions it'll ruin his acting career if he accepts them.

I just don't see shia leo bouf getting any high profile high budget movie deals in the distant future. where he carries a movie all by himself & is the lead star.

Shia le bouf will most likely get SAFE ACTING CAREER MOVIE ROLES. where he's not the lead/main star. like he did in that indy & wall street movie.

I just don't see shia leo bouf transferring that well to college groupies type movies. where there are 5 cool guys & 5 cool girls that have mis-adventures in college or on jobs. Shia le bouf's,doesn't seem like a perfect fit for these movies. due to him not being that popular among the in-crowds. he's no freddy prince,no wil smith.

It's funny you mention that as when I was watching Dotm I was thinking to myself how much he looks like Will Wheaton with his current hair cut heh.

I can only assume you mean "loathed" in which case ... maybe, but I don't think "Le Bouf" will sound as good as "Wheaton" when screamed in rage by Sheldon Cooper.

I don't think Shia Leouf is the Wesley of the franchise, I think he's the loathed actor of everything he appears in.

Shia seems like he's always late for something.
I would have much preferred Justin Long, or even Wil Wheaten over Shia.

One thing that suprised me with DotM was my reaction of Shia's first scene.

I heard the voice, then saw the face and thought "oh yeah, that's right, douchebag is in this movie".

For some reason it had completely skipped my mind that he was in it, and when I realised it my first thought was to think of him as a douchebag.

The comparison is a bit harsh. Because (some/several) Transformers fans wouldn't like Shia, he wouldn't be able to get work anyone? Seems a bit like 8-ball predictions.

Let's just see how he fares.

I hated the role, even before "The Beef" began playing it. I liked the beef in the movies on and off. He was funny, played the roll, brought a certain air of uniqueness to it and thats that.

As for his whole "HAI GUISE! GUESS WOT!? I BANGED MEGAN FOX WHILE I WAS ACTING IN TRANZFERMORZ!!!" Yes, that was a real stupid thing for him to do. Nobody cares that he banged the hot chick on the set, but rubbing some salt into that wound that was her getting booted out of the 3rd movie because Spielberg is trash, has-been... This made me lose tons of respect for "The Beef".

TL;DR - I wouldn't make an effort to get his autograph or even meet him if he was at a Botcon, nor would i go outta my way to watch any of his movies that didn't involve a subject-matter I was interested in.

From my understanding from reading all the botcon official panel reports & on-line q & a interviews. micheal bay, steven spielberg, & the 3 writters of the movies SAID THE ROLE OF SAM & HIS SITUATIONS WERE BUILT AROUND THE ACTORS SHIA LE BOUF ONLY 1-d Comedic acting skills.

In other words Shia le bouf didn't step into a role that was already established for someone else for the TF movies, this role was tailored for him & being constanty tailored for him. Because miheal bay keeps saying he's funny & can lighten up the TF movies with his comedic talents & quirky reactions.

That's usually the way it works. as the examples with starwars & star trek shows.

If you have no fans, people loathe you, who's gonna waste money seeing your movies.

right now more people dis-like tom cruise & mel gibson. thus all the movies they've been in for the past few years have been theathre bombs/losing money at the box office.

Yeah, i realize that. But what i'm talking about was the role of "Spike" all together in the G1 cartoons. I never really cared for it. Thats just me. As far as his acting in the movies, yeah, i liked what he did with it.

I just don't like all the post-movie drama that came from him and therefore, hes not exactly one of my favorite people due to it.

Yeah..see, i dunno. I like Tom Cruise movies. I know hes an idiot scientology reject in real life, but if anything, that strikes me more as 'big dumb actor' comedy. That wasn't really hurting, or slandering, anyone. And his role in "Tropic Thunder" was just friggin hilarious.

Mel Gibson, on the other hand, i've never been a real hardcore fan of. I've seen a few of his movies, but hes just one of those guys that if hes in a movie that contains a subject matter i like, then i'll watch it. But if hes in a movie about something stupid, ill pretty much steer clear of it.

To compare that to Shia the Beef, i'm going the Mel Gibson route, but i would be more apt to wanting to meet Mel Gibson than i would Shia the Beef. lol

Apparently the season 2 writters also dis-liked the SPIKE character. in various official interviews they said they purposely wrote the character out of most episodes & didn't heavily focus on him. the 1980's cartoon writters referred to the SPIKE character as booring, dull, lackluster & non-essential to the plots/arcs of the series.

vegetacron,as far as your comment goes about not liking shia le bouf based off his off-screen behavior. this is EXTREMLY IMPORTANT & the number one reason why actors fail/lose popularity & no one goes to see their movies/TV shows. thus they get black listed. EXAMPLES: linsey lohan, tom cruise, mel gibson.

Honestly all 3 actors/acttresse/musicians (micheal jackson, linsdsey lohan, tom cruise & mel gibson) had loads of talent & were beloved at one point in their acting music/careers. The thing that turned a lot people off to them & made people refuse to see their movies/music were what was going on in their personal lives & all the drama in the tabloids magazines.

It really is. People have enough drama from their real lives that having the non-fictional drama from famous people's lives mixed in with their fictional stories is usually a bad thing.

When we think of famous people, we tend to think of that one "thing", talent, or character that the famous person has done. This thing/talent/character is what kind of immortalizes them. John Wayne is a pretty good example. Everyone knows him as "The Duke" or one of the greatest, on-screen cowboys to ever live. He is immortalized by this. But did you know that he made the following comment to Playboy magazine back in May of 1971:

"With a lot of blacks, there's quite a bit of resentment along with their dissent, and possibly rightfully so. But we can't all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks. I believe in white supremacy until blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people."

Now, i know that its a new time and political issues vary from time to time, but back then, something like this would be an outrage for an actor if everyone had read it. Fact is, most american people didn't read Playboy, so the comment didn't get a whole of attention. Hes not known for being a racist.

Skip ahead 40 years. We have the internet and so many news outlets, that we have websites that make money by finding that news and grouping it into particular news site devoted to a certain genre or culture. By and by, we are a billionth more informed now than we ever were about what is going on in the world and what people are doing and saying.

So the attention a celebrity is getting now, as opposed to 40 years ago, is much greater and therefore, they really have to watch what they say and who they say it to, because it could show up in those media outlets and turn public opinion down on them.

It was great Shia was playing this character and bringing a little fun to the movies and etc, etc...but after reading what he said regarding the actresses he acted alongside of, it just shows how much more of a chauvinist pig he is in real life.

Now, if i don't particularly care for chauvinist pigs in real life, what kind of opinion would I have of a celebrity if they exhibited that kind of behavior in public or doing an interview?

Vegetacron, regarding & adressing your last 2 paragraphs you wrote.
I completly agree with this. this is the main reason I'm loathe shia le beouf.

he acts like a super conceited liar in all his interviews. mocked the fans a few times. got into that DUI accident.threw coffee on a guy taking his pcture then ran away. recently said that megan fox comment & so forth.

As far as shia le boufs acting skills in the movies he's in goes. shia has no talent. shia can't fails to express/deliver/make it seem realistic the proper emotion he's doing on screen.

Shia is a one dimesional comedic actor, that's all he knows, can do & even then he fails doing that.

in that indiana jones movie shia did such a bad job playing indiana jones's son. shia chose to play the character really over the top, super macho, really obnoxious & super conceited. basically the same way shia play the wall street movie part. I HATE OVER ACTORS BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS DO A BAD PERFOORMANCE. This is the main reason I got tired & now hate the Jim carrey movies. playing a role over the top & eccentric makes the character not seem like a real person in real life.

AT BEST BOTH SHIA LEO BEOUF & JIM CAREY PREFER to play their actor parts in a "CARICATURE" style/way.

at the very least jim carey is good at what he does & is a comedic genious. like jerry lewis is. even though i'm not a fan of either man. I do at least acknowlege they possess EXCEPTIONAL talent & are good at what they do.

what shia is, would be considered amateur night at the APPOLLO. where he fails, gets booed off the stage & so forth.

I will be honest, I just glanced through this thread. But I can't bring myself to hate on Shia Lebouf. The guy was Louis Stevens throughout the latter part of my childhood. I find him very likable and have never had a problem with him. Even in Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull he didn't bother me. His role as Sam in the transformers movies has never bothered me, and I never saw what the big problem was with putting a human face in a movie about giant robots from space. I think the problem is however that we spend too much time on other humans and not enough on the central human or the cybertronians. I don't think Sam is the problem. I had more problems with Leo in ROTF than I had with Sam in the whole franchise.

I don't hate Shia but I don't really care for him either.

All of THE posturing in interviews while I can appreciate in terms of not being politically correct. At the same time he does himself more public image harm than good.

Quite frankly he says he is done with the franchise which again strikes me as a dumb PR move. He does not get much work away from the TF franchise. He basically has to hope something pans out for Indy 5 or go back on his choice to leave this franchise because this franchise is his career ATM.

The guy who played leo PLAYED A PART CALLED THE "FALL GUY" The fall guy is usually their to make the main star look more superior in every way possible. like the ultimate ladies man. the braver guy. the more experienced guy. the more grown up guy. the tougher guy & so forth.

micheal bay got a bit over obsessed with shia in the TF movies. micheal bay put Leo into the film in a attempt to make shia look more superior. micheal told the writters to write leo as a ultimate loser. then cast the part of leo to act like the ultimate loser in every way possible,so shia could shine as perfection & the ultimate man next to him.

THE REASON WHY JONAH HILL TURNED DOWN THE PART OF LEO FOR ROTF is because it was too degradding & embarrasing for him to bother subjecting himself too.

Yeah that interview made no sense.

Shia knows they'll be a reboot. reboots never cast the same actors.

anyways without micheal bay's support,I doubt any new director who signed on to do TF4 would want shia in the movie.

Shia le beouf was just acting obnoxious & self conceited when he made this comment. to further put a spin & add layers to what micheal bay said. when micheal said TF3 was his last TF3 movie.

I felt Le Beouf played the "not quite hunk/not quite nerd turned unlikely hero" role as well as anybody could, though, in DOTM, his performance was indicative of a guy tired of the franchise that made him famous.

He seems like the kind of a guy who will torpedo his career by obnoxious behavior before he has a chance to lose his appeal with age or some box-office flops.

I hated all three films, I don't hate the actors - they are just doing their job and making money so fair play to them. Shia is good at what he does, but i think his character and alot of other human characters were not needed in the film. I thought Lennox was a much better character that could have developed.

End of the day the media surrounding celebrities is too much, everything is overkill. I don't care about there private lives - I just want to see them do what do best - act, sing, play football, play chess. Were all human, so who are we to judge others (apart from Mr Bay and the script writers LOL)

i actually like shia.

and i think sam goes on a nice character arc over the whole three films.

the problem i have with him is the same with spike in the comics.

im NOT buying this product for the humans !

he's the intro character. once the TF universe gets established he should fade into the back round.

no one goes to see harry potter films to see his step parents. no one watches star wars films to see uncle owen, and no one comes to these films to see sam.

yet thats all we get from bay.
