Don't get me wrong, I love Shia, I do think he's hilarious. His parents too. But, they go too far. His mom being menopausal, getting high, and tackling people? That's ridiculous. And Shia trying to get the Bots out of their base at the start of DOTM, flipping out and literally screaming at the top of his lungs.... was mental.itscramtastic wrote:Nice write up on all the movies Shaj!! I still find the ones with Sam Witwicky (and his parents) to be the best.
Turturro. Sorry, forgot about him. Best Bayformer human hands downitscramtastic wrote:OR!! "One man!! Alone!! Betrayed by the country he loves, now their only hope in their hour of need!!"
Ok, so Shia and John Turturro. Best. Ever.

TLK was handled very similarly, in regards to the editing style. And AOE was long, but didn't feel like they were staying their welcome. TLK on the other hand....itscramtastic wrote:I didn't necessarily enjoy AoE as I felt it was too long, and they just jump-cut all over the planet. Also, why humans be killing bots and trying to steal their gold metal?!

I don't wanna brag, but today's haul is epic. McDonald's Beast Wars Under-3!!!

Annnd.... not earth shattering or anything, but I spotted some "new" RID Legions. I say "new" because they aren't, but we've never gotten them here before (pretty sure).

Nice, that Under 3 Botcon figure is attractive. That deco is very lovely and works very well. I regret not getting that one just a wee bit. Them RiD legion figures are petty cool for their tiny size. Microchangers
Has anyone got a good look at the TLK legion Megatron. Looks pretty sharp, I keep passing, but it's getting harder and harder.

I was searching for the silly McDonalds toy for a while and finally found a couple .
And I actually pretty rarely buy Legion figures, but Starscream is my boy.

I saw TLK Cybertron today at TRU-- but I'd much rather spend $150 on a Tryp.

How is dat lil Screamer? Do you have the RiD deluxe? That's a fun figure, if so how do they compare transformation wise?

I dunno! Good? I guess? His jet mode doesn't have the right silhouette, and he has no shoulders. But he was tiny and cheap? The only other Legion I can compare him to is my Cybertron Starscream, and that lil guy is amazing. This one... isn'tcarytheone wrote:How is dat lil Screamer? Do you have the RiD deluxe? I got a Starcrush something awful, but I'm trying to quit legion/legend figures that don't make sense or I deem unnecessary. Good to know that's an easy pass.shajaki wrote:I dunno! Good? I guess? Hoooooollllyyyyy crap.
He is big. He is heavy. In jet mode, I'd have whooshed him around the house, but I'd have to start lifting weights
Robot mode cannot be beat. He is the spitting image of his cartoon counterpart. His plastic quality is outstanding. Simply put, solid AF. So solid in fact, during transformation I almost broke a (rather thick) tab, but it bent rather than snapped. There's nothing brittle about him.
He isn't perfect though. His legs aren't as possible as I thought. And he's not very smooth in jet mode. The jet seems to lack a certain amount of refinement. But honestly, these complaints feel nit-picky. He is still really satisfying.

Cram. Always tryin to hurt me

I didn't transform him, but he feels really good. Pretty solid. Ramjet was fiddly, Thrust was much better but his back hanging jet nosecone was pretty loose, and Dirge doesn't appear to have any of these issues. All in all, I'm actually really happy seeing the trio complete.Ironhidensh wrote:I'm gonna need your thoughts on Dirge.

Simply put, fantastic, and what a Spider-Man movie should have been the whole time.bodrock wrote:O RLY? Tell me more about the new Spidey, Shaj....!
One of the greatest runs of Spider-Man, is the Ultimate Universe', and this borrows heavily from it. Teenage Peter is a pure joy to watch. He's hilarious, awkward, and still learning. Watching characters grow can't be beat.
....... *edit.... I'm just say here, the movie, in general, is hilarious. Halfway through writing I found I was saying that virtually everyone and everything was funny. Because it is. So sorry if it get repetitive.

Happy Hogan makes his return basically as his chaperone adding many lawl's. Aunt May is not 107 years old, which I greatly appreciate. I think maybe they almost went too young and too hot by casting Marisa Tomei, but that seems like a ridiculous thing to complain about. She was funny and cute. And her last words in the movie steal the show. Peter's BFF Ned was a great sidekick, and had some really great moments. There were two ladies they focused on, Liz and Michelle. The one Peter fawns over is Liz, who I found kind of one dimensional, and Michelle who was quite a bit ore interesting even if she was just playing the stereotypical weird girl.
Michael Keaton's Vulture. Am I the only one who liked the Robocop reboot? Keaton plays an amazing villain. He's intimidating, strong, unpredictable, and just all around badass. Not to mention the Vulture design was pretty scary. Bomber jacket with the feather'ish collar, green glowing eyes, giant robot wings (which do some crazy damage), and the robotic talons on his feet. They really give a good impression of the damage he can inflict.
It was a good story. In a nutshell: Peter tries hard, gets a slightly inflated ego, gets slapped down, and straightens up. The action is enthralling, and the stuff in between is well paced. He has the same suit he was given in Civil War, which is promptly taken away from him after a pretty bad dust-up with the Vulture on a sail barge which was only saved due to Ironmans intervention. I assumed the "Liz" of the movie was Liz Allen, but as a strange twist she's actually Liz Toomes. As in, the Vulture's daughter. Once confronted with Peter in his civies taking his daughter to homecoming, the Vulture puts things together pretty quickly. He tells Peter to let it all go and leave him alone, or else. And sadly for Peter, he ditches his date to peruse the daddy-baddy. Naturally he ends up saving the day and proving himself to Stark, and nearly made a full Avenger. But he turns it down because he feels he's not as ready as he thought.
However there were some odd things too. Not bad per say, just odd. There must have been a conscious decision made by the makers, to not cover his origin or powers. There wasn't ONE mention of Uncle Ben, specifically why he is costuming as Spider-Man, and the spider bite was only briefly mentioned. Also, no "Power/Responsibility" quotes. I assume because people are probably bored to death of re-watching said things and they wanted to avoid beating this certain dead horse. Everybody should just know by now.
I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the Captain America PSA's. Sweet primus, they were hilarious. And the post credits moment is literally the best one of the entire Avengers franchise. That, and the entirety of the movie left me in stitches. I was actually sore from laughing so much.

Hooray Homecoming!! I can't wait to see it, and I'm sad I haven't yet. That and Wonder Woman were my two movies to see this summer. Yeah, I said two. Unless there's another coming out soon which I forgot about. I don't think there is.
The MCU does a great job and I'm thrilled Spidey is finally in it. And yeah Shaj, Ultimate Peter Parker/Spider-Man is where it is at. He's the greatest hero ever.
