Seriously, some of those figures just seemed to have chrome applied for the sake of it being somewhere on the figure. It's already getting better with Hasbro's chrome deco designs in some respects. Compare the random chrome applications to the likes of First Edition AoE Optimus Prime to the excellent use of chrome with Evolutions 2-Pack Classics Optimus Prime.
