Kaon - To retrieve the key to change worlds.

Homeworld of the Transformers. Drained and ravaged by thousands of vorns of civil war, Cybertron is a mere barren husk of once beautiful and thriving cybernetic world. While recovered enough to allow Transformers to move on its surface once again, it is still plagued by ion storms and any Transformer unfortunate enough to venture there without energon supply of their own is certain to face a stasis lock.

Kaon - To retrieve the key to change worlds.

Shockwave stood outside the Decepticon shuttle Razorclaw had landed on one of the topmost of the fortress city of Kolkular's landing zones only moments ago - surveying the view that opened up from the top of the massive fortress. The same desolation was as apparent here as it was in Polyhex. Regards of this, most of the infrastructure would be salvageable, even repairable had they resources and energon to do so. The fact that they couldn't do so was insulting to a mechanoid like Shockwave but even he had to accept the realities.

"Set up the automated defenses to protect the shuttle." He finally stated and knelt down next to an access hatch that had not been used tens of thousands of years. "Declarative: This fortress is powered down. Our only way to the command hub is through a number of blast doors and access hatches. We have to find the route of least resistance. Blasting through every possible blast door will drain our energy reserves before we get to our target. Inquiry: Has the fortress layout been modified since my departure?"

Razorclaw had no trouble landing the transport shuttle on top of the massive fortress city of Kolkular. The ride had thankfully been a smooth one with very little in the way of turbulence. Furthermore, there was no interference from the Autobots, which probably meant that the enemy had no knowledge of the salvage mission to Kaon. However, that didn't mean there still wasn't a chance the Autobots could find out somehow and attempt to stop them. They all had to remain vigilant and ready for anything.

Once the shuttle was secured, Razorclaw followed Shockwave outside where the Predacon Commander could see the vast destruction that plagued Kaon as it did the rest of Cybertron. Perhaps some day their homeworld would regain it's former glory, but that day was not now nor would it be in the foreseeable future. There was no time to reminisce about the past, however, as Shockwave gave the order to set up the auto-guns to protect the shuttle. Razorclaw turned to address Tantrum and the other Predacons. "You heard Shockwave. Retrieve the auto-guns from the shuttle and start setting them up around the perimeter."

As Divebomb, Rampage and Headstrong headed into the shuttle's cargo hold, Razorclaw turned to face Shockwave, who had just inquired about the fortress layout. "I believe the layout is generally the same, my lord," Razorclaw responded immediately. "The only change I am aware of is the addition of a new turbo lift on the south side of the complex that allows for easier access to the lower sub-levels. Everything else should be as you remember it."

The Predacon leader then glanced back towards the shuttle as Divebomb, Rampage and Headstrong emerged from the cargo hold, each carrying an auto-gun. Rampage almost dropped his, but quickly regained control. "Set them up at an equal distance from one another to ensure there are no holes in the defensive perimeter," Razorclaw ordered. "And be careful with them! We don't have any spares!"

"Very well. Cut this access hatch open." Shockwave stated after Razorclaw's response. "It will lead into the city's service network where we can maneuver more freely towards the command hub, inflicting minimum damage into Kolkular."

Following up his statement, Shockwave summoned up a holographic presentation of the fortress city and the route they would take for Razorclaw to see. "We will head for the emergency powerplant A-1 of the fortress sector C-8 and engage it with some of the spare energon carried by Tantrum. This will allow us to direct power into the rest of the route we will take, opening blast doors on our way into the command hub through utilizing up to date command codes you possess."

Razorclaw knelt down by the access hatch directly across from where Shockwave was situated and quickly pulled out a small blow torch. Before Razorclaw was able to begin, however, Shockwave had generated a holographic map of the fortress city and began explaining what they needed to do once they were inside. The Predacon Commander listened intently and nodded once the cycloptic mech was finished speaking. "Understood, my lord. Tantrum has plenty of extra energon in his tanks, and I have all the access codes required to get us to our destination. There should be no problems."

Razorclaw then ignited his blow torch and began cutting through the hatch until he had gone completely around the sealed rim. Once done, the Predacon leader grabbed a hold of the handle on top and swiftly pulled the hatch door open, allowing a rush of stale air to escape from the darkness below. Razorclaw then turned to check on his team's progress with the automated defenses. They had succeeded in setting up three of the auto-guns and were currently bringing out the remaining four from the shuttle's cargo hold.

Razorclaw stood to address them. "Listen up! Once you are all finished with the auto-guns, we'll be moving down into the fortress. Tantrum, some of the extra energon you brought will be needed once we are inside. I'll let you know when that will be. Now, let's get moving, Predacons. Time is wasting."

Tantrum sighed as he lugged one of the auto-guns out of the hold of the shuttle. Was there anything to do on this dead world other than mess around with old guns? It seemed that he had done little more than carry parts and tools to repair guns, actually repair the guns, and now he was lugging them around and setting them up. What kind of work was this for a Predacon? They should have just brought Swindle along. At the very least the little Decepticon knew guns.

Tantrum looked over at Razorclaw as his name was called. He let out a snort. “I’ll be ready with plenty of fuel when you need me boss. Just tell me when and where and I’ll get this fortress charged up as best I can.”

With the Predacons securing the shuttle, Shockwave gave the order to move out. It took several breems from the band of deadly Decepticons to reach their targets. While they faced no resistance inside Kolkular, the city fortress' sheer size and powered down state slowed them down considerably. Yet, there was no denying them from their price.

"The emergency powerplant A-1." Shockwave spoke up after being silent ever since he had given the order to move out - pointing his gun arm towards a building protected by walls strong enough to hold a massive energon explosion. Turning his sole optic towards Razorclaw, Shockwave gave an order in form of a statement. "You know how to proceed."

Once the Predacons were finished setting up the auto-guns to Razorclaw's satisfaction, the elite military unit followed Shockwave down into the bowels of the fortress city. It was a long journey through the powerless capital of Kaon, not to mention slow going as the darkness made it difficult to see ahead. The Predacon Commander pulled out a portable light from subspace which helped to illuminate the way forward.

After several breems of walking, the group of Decepticons finally made it to their destination: emergency powerplant A-1. It was a large structure surrounded by a thick wall that was designed not only to keep unwanted guests out, but to keep an accidental energon explosion contained. Overloads and mech error could happen at any time. Therefore, the necessary precautions had to be taken to protect the rest of the city from damage.

Once Shockwave gave Razorclaw the okay to proceed, the Predacon leader nodded in response and then turned towards his team, pointing to one in particular. "Tantrum! You're coming with me. The rest of you stay here. This shouldn't take long."

Razorclaw then returned his attention to the powerplant ahead and moved towards the protective outer wall. Using his portable light device, he was able to locate a locked door, one of only two entrances into the plant. Since there was currently no power feeding the door's keypad, the Predacon leader knew that his codes would be useless. Therefore, it was necessary to open the door manually.

Razorclaw moved to the left of the door where an access panel was plainly visible. Using his blow torch from before, Razorclaw cut open the panel and reached for the lever inside. Pushing it into the downward position, he could hear the locking mechanism unhitch within the door frame. Razorclaw then positioned himself in front of the entrance and forced the door to slide open with both clawed hands. It was a difficult task even for a mech as powerful as him, but he managed to pry the door most of the way open.

Kolkular - Emergency Powerplant A-1

Razorclaw stepped inside a vast chamber and shined his light across the way. On the opposite side he could see the huge power generators that had laid dormant for countless vorns. All they needed now was a little energon to get them started and then the group could direct power through the rest of their route to the command hub. It would certainly make things much easier for them and allow the Predacon leader to use his access codes to open all of the blast doors along the way.

Staying focused, Razorclaw quickly marched across the large room, approaching the primary energon coupling to the generators. Once he had inspected the vitality of the connection, Razorclaw turned his gaze towards the Predacon fueler. "Tantrum, hook one of your spare fuel tanks up here to this coupling and begin infusing the generators with energon. Once that's done I should be able to get them running at optimal capacity and then feed power into the appropriate systems we will require for the rest of our trip."

It had been a long time, too long, since Rampage had set foot or locked optics on anything having to do with the legendary fortress of Kolkular. It conjured images of storied battles and gladiator combats of old. Rampage had done a lot of business here, even when Kaon itself had been a ward of the prevailing Autobot government. That time period was so far distant that Rampage wondered if his own memory records recalled everything accurately. It didn't matter now. What mattered, form the looks of it, was getting some energy flowing through this place again.

Rampage offered no argument when Razorclaw told he and some of the other Predacons to remain where they were. The environment overhead didn't look too good. Cybertron's atmosphere looked to be just as messed up as the surface. The Predacon wanted to see Cybertron restored. He was sure it could be done, but it would take the vision of mechs like Megatron and the practical skills of those like Shockwave and Thunderwing to make it a reality.

If Rampage's skills on the battlefield could bring it about that much quicker, so much the better.

>>"You guys runnin' in to anything that we can tear up down there? Heh,"<< Rampage transmitted to his commander.

Shockwave stood silently in the midst of the power plant that had gone unused for many vorns. Only his head turned, very incrementally, as his sole optic scanned everything that surrounded them. Though Tantrum would be able to provide an initial surge to the system, it would have to be used wisely and sparingly. Energy of any sort was an increasingly rare commodity. Shockwave recalled numerous memory compoents of a time when that was not the case on Cybertron. He looked to bring Cybertron to that state once again, but that was an endgoal that had an almost exponential number of other objectives that would need to be achieved beforehand.

"Interrogative: what is the completion percentage of your subordinate's objective, Razorclaw?" Shockwave asked. Deeper levels of the fortress awaited them. They would remain here only so long as it took to get their next path suitably energized.

The purple mech moved at last, approaching a small terminal at the far wall. As he did, his right hand attempted to access the outer security layers of the system with whatever energy Tantrum had managed to inject in to the power plant thus far.

Tatrum followed Razorclaw and the other Decepticons down into the long abandoned fortress. He understood that they were here to reactivate some of the systems and retrieve some equipment, but there was still a large part of him that wanted to just tear through the base. They had the power and strength to do it, why waste so much time walking around in the dark like this? He kept his thoughts to himself though, trusting in Razorclaw and by extension, Shockwave. Still, the occasional stray spark from the horns on his head indicated his frustration.

He followed Razorclaw further into the base, into one of the powerplants that had kept the fortress running before. It looked to be in ok shape for being deserted for so long. He wasn’t an expert on these things though. The fueler just knew enough to fill up his fuel tanks and empty them out into something else, and you didn’t need a whole lot of skill or knowledge to do that.

The Predacon nodded at Razorclaw’s orders and attached one of his energon tanks to the coupling. The fuel slowly began to pump out of the tank and into the old systems. He watched the tank empty out and snorted. “That’s a full tank emptied into it Razorclaw. I’ve got more fuel if you need it but I’m thinking we’ll need to top off our own tanks before leaving here. Hopefully this old thing still works.”

Razorclaw waited patiently as Tantrum connected one of his extra fuel tanks to the power coupling and then siphoned energon into the old generators. The Predacon Commander was accustomed to waiting, as he often did when stalking his prey during battle. However, time here was of the essence and things needed to move along quickly, especially since Shockwave, himself, was overseeing how things progressed.

Razorclaw then received a transmission from Rampage, who was itching to rip something apart. >>"No, Rampage, we are fine down here. Hold your position. If anything appears that requires your destructive talents, I'll be sure to let you know."<<

The Predacon Commander then returned his attention to the situation at hand as Tantrum completed his task. "Excellent." Razorclaw then turned towards Shockwave, who was waiting by a small terminal along the far wall. "My subordinate's task is 100% complete, my lord. He had infused the systems with one fuel tank worth of energon. I will now attempt to activate the generators."

Razorclaw approached a large switch nearby and pushed it into the up position. With a loud hum the generators came to life as energon flowed through the necessary systems, bringing terminals back online as the dark room became illuminated with light. "The generators seem to be functioning well, Lord Shockwave. You should be able to access your terminal without a problem."

"Satisfactory," Shockwave replied with the same characteristic lack of emotion in his answer as had been in the question. Indeed, additional indicators were alerting him to the fact that the energy transfer had been accepted and he could begin rerouting at least some of the energy that had been recycled in to the system.

"Imperative: proceed with original directives. Engage blast doors using current command codes. Armaments will prove unnecessary unless certain variables change. Refuel as required. Energon purity standards are at less than 73.09873%. Adapt accordingly."

Shockwave backed away from the terminal and prepared to move onward.

Rampage's fist slammed in to a nearby pile of debris, but that was the extent of his frustration for now. He had hoped that Razorclaw and the others would run in to something which would require his own specialized brand of assistance. Oh well, the orn wasn't finished yet.

>>"I hear you,"<< Rampage grumbled back.

Transforming, he scrambled up to the crest of a nearby hill and perched himself on top so that he could get a better look at their surroundings.

Razorclaw nodded as Shockwave spoke in an emotionless tone. “As you wish, my lord,” the Predacon Commander responded before opening a comm line to his team:

>>”Predacons, the generators are operational and we are preparing to move onward through the fortress city. If you require a recharge then enter the power plant immediately and engage your fuel cells to one of the generators. Bear in mind, however, the purity of the energon is less than 73%. Adjust your systems as needed. Once you are done, or if you do not need a recharge, meet myself and Shockwave at the blast doors. We will move out in one breem.”<<

Razorclaw then cut the comm line and hooked himself up to the nearest generator. After a quick flow of energon topped off his fuel cells, he re-calibrated his systems to accept the lower purity levels. The Predacon leader then approached the large set of blast doors that would lead further into Kolkular. He quickly accessed the control panel and entered the appropriate command codes. A loud squealing sound could be heard as the huge doors parted in the center and slowly inched their way open.

Once they were fully apart, Razorclaw drew out his sword and carefully passed through the exit way. Shockwave had mentioned that the need for weapons would not be necessary, but the Predacon Commander did not want to take any chances. There could be all sorts of mechanical vermin lurking around down in these long deserted corridors just waiting to strike. It was better to be overly cautious than willfully unprepared.

Razorclaw finished scanning the empty corridor ahead before returning his gaze back to Shockwave. “The way is clear, my lord. We can move out shortly once my team is recharged.”

***

Divebomb and Headstrong received their commander's transmission and wasted no time entering the power plant. The journey for them and the others had already been a long one and there was still much distance left to travel. Therefore, the two Predacons decided it would be wise to recharge now rather than risk running out of energy before they arrived at their destination. Once Divebomb and Headstrong had topped off their fuel cells, they made the necessary adjustments to their systems and then joined Razorclaw and Shockwave over by the blast doors.

Rampage was ready as soon as he got the call from Razorclaw. His instincts told him that the surrounding area was calm. He wasn’t picking up anything that could be perceived as a threat. Not yet, anyway. The more exciting path lay below. Even as a warlord, Rampage had told his underlings to stay away from the deeper levels of Cybertron. Sentience existed there that was unlike anything that functioned on the surface.

>>”On my way,”<< Rampage quickly commed back, before leaping down from his metallic hill and padding along the debris-strewn path that would take him back to where the Predacon Commander and the others were.

This was far from the most idyllic period of Cybertron’s history. Such desolation and stasis were foreign to the existence of the energetic Predacon. He missed the days when destruction and conquering actually returned some kind of substantial gain, be it energy or territory—or both. On Cybertron, in its current state, that would only get you another vorn’s worth of functioning. He was ready though. The Decepticon Command always had bigger plans, just as Razorclaw himself usually did. They would make something out of this land of nothing. Eventually.

As he closed in, he saw some other members of his team topping off their fuel reserves. That they were even able to do that was a good sign. It wouldn't be good for the first thing that decided to cross them, though.

"We earned this," Rampage said, despite the fact that they were getting sub-grade quality energon. It was better than nothing.

Shockwave did not verbally acknowledge Razorclaw’s response. It was understood that a certain, minimal amount of time would be allotted for the purposes of recharging fuel reserves now that they had been able to satisfactorily bring these anterior generators back online. Shockwave had calculated that maintaining their output even at the current, paltry-grade energon that was being produced would not be able to be sustained for any significant length of time. That, however, was not a primary objective of their mission, either, so Shockwave had quickly turned his attention to back to the operation at hand.

Stepping away, there was a shrill, metallic cry and an unfamiliar crunch underneath the purple mech’s feet. The cycloptic Decepticon looked downward to notice that a cyber-rat had managed to find itself unfortunately, and fatally, underfoot, no doubt attracted to the increased energy signatures in the area, amongst other potential lures. Shockwave bent over slightly, examining the creature more closely. In another time, it would have been unheard of for a creature such as this to be found anywhere near the functional levels of a Decepticon power source. It showed no major signs of exterior wear, indicating that it had avoided the more corrosive aspects of Cybertron’s atmosphere for some time. If cyber-rats had managed to infest the area, there were likely other mechanisms that had managed to do so.

Continuing forward, it was not long before Shockwave approached the vicinity of Razorclaw and the other Predacons, all in various stages of refueling.

“Declarative: sufficient time has been allotted. We will proceed onward immediately. We are unlikely to be the only sentient mechanisms within the facility. Current threat level—insignificant.”

Razorclaw nodded as Shockwave finished speaking in his typical logical manner. “Agreed, my lord.” The Predacon Commander then turned to address his team. “Let’s finish up, Predacons! We’re moving out now! I will take the lead at the front. Rampage, you and Tantrum will cover the rear. Make sure nothing sneaks up on us from behind. I want everyone to keep your optics open for any vermin that we will likely encounter. Some may be larger than others. Although, I’m sure there’s nothing down here that we all can’t handle. Power has for the most part been restored to the main pathway we will transverse in order to reach the command hub, but it will still be dark in many areas, so be alert.”

Keeping his sword at the ready, Razorclaw then turned and moved towards the opened blast doors, exiting into the sparsely lit hallway that led away from the power plant. The Predacon Commander wasted no more time and continued onward down the corridor, assuming that the rest would follow. It would take a few cycles to reach the command hub as it was a good distance from their current location. However, if they maintained a steady course through the pathways of the fortress city, they could arrive at their destination sooner than expected and thus expedite their mission to a more practical degree.

"On it," Rampage said, as he nodded his understanding of Razorclaw's intent. Given where they were going, it was just as likely that they might run in to some sort of threat from the rear just as much as the front, and that suited Rampage just fine. It had been too long since he'd had any real chance to explore these--or any, really--areas of Cybertron.

Rumors were rampant among many in the Decepticon ranks about the sorts of sentient life that still existed on Cybertron. Life that had managed to survive the shutdown. Digging deep. Burying itself in to the deepest reaches of the planet. Kolkular had been situated in an area of Cybertron that had been chaotic long before the planet ever went dark. Rampage could only imagine what might await them now.

Kolkular - Approaching the Command Hub

The trip to the command hub had taken a bit longer than Razorclaw had anticipated. The pathway was long and winding with some areas either partially or completely blocked with debris and thus had to be cleared. It was nothing the Predacons couldn't handle, but it slowed things down considerably. At one point, the group reached a small bridge that was half destroyed. Fortunately, the side that still stood could support the weight of a single mech and thus each carefully crossed one at a time.

Now they were almost to their destination as the command hub was finally in sight at the far end of the corridor. Razorclaw remained out in front with his sword at the ready while Rampage and Tantrum watched their backs. Suddenly, the Predacon Commander stopped, raising his free hand in the air to signal the others to follow suit. Razorclaw sensed something. There was something moving close by.

As if fueled on pure instinct alone, Razorclaw reacted almost before the huge cyber-rat had leapt at him from the darkness of a nearby vent. The Predacon leader spun around to his right side and slashed at the metal creature with his sword, cleaving it right in two. It was a swift move that caught even his own Predacons off guard.

"Cyber-rat. A big one, too. Looks mutated," Razorclaw said, standing over the twitching remains. "It must've been drawn out by the energon we infused into the pathway. I'm surprised we haven't encountered any other vermin until now." The Predacon Commander peered around the corridor, searching for any more rats. Then the sounds of scurrying creatures within the walls began to grow steadily around them followed by the unmistakable squeals that cyber-rats tended to give off when agitated. "Stay sharp, Predacons! There appears to be more on the way. We should move quickly. Let's go!"

Razorclaw hurried down the corridor to the heavy blast doors that protected the command hub. He quickly accessed the control panel to the left side and entered the appropriate codes into the system. It took a moment for the doors to respond, but they finally parted down the center and slowly slid open. Razorclaw then turned to address Shockwave. "My lord, we have access to the command hub. I will go in first to ensure that nothing is already inside."

Razorclaw turned with his sword at the ready and cautiously entered the command hub. His presence tripped the motion sensors which in turn activated the overhead lights. It was still somewhat dark as the amount of infused energon had already been spread thin. The Predacon Commander scanned the immediate area and picked up nothing moving either mech or vermin. He then looked back over his shoulder. "Commander Shockwave, the room is clear. We can begin whenever you are ready."

Kolkular--Command Hub

Shockwave took note of the second, now larger, cyber-rat that he had encountered while traversing these corridors, having been left dysfunctional at the expert actuators of Razorclaw. The first one could have been attributed to a simple stray that had wandered too far in search of sustenance. Two, however, indicated—at best—a minor infestation somewhere on the premises. That also meant that there could be auxiliary energy sources upon which they had not yet capitalized. That remained a secondary concern for the time being. The current primary objective was the acquisition of mechaforming data that had long ago been locked away deep within Kolkular’s subsystems by Megatron. As he stepped past Razorclaw, he intended to acquire it in the most efficient manner possible.

“Satisfactory,” is all the purple mech said for the moment as he approached the primary control station. He took a moment to reroute the subgrid of energy that was currently maintaining the level of illumination in the room into the hard drive backup systems, so that his work would not be jeopardized by any sudden power surges. He then attached himself to the mainframe, so that it could draw from his own nuclear generator if power levels suddenly became critical for any reason.

“Declarative: it is a statistical likelihood that Cybertron’s native life forms may have instinctually located energy sources too small to have registered as anything of significance on a standard sensory sweep. Imperative: have your subordinates investigate this possibility to determine whether or not this is so, and eliminate whatever might stand in your team’s way, Razorclaw. You will remain in the command hub.”

Shockwave recognized the possibility that there may be more dangerous life on Cybertron than cyber-rats that still remained functional. He also understood that there would be no unit on Cybertron better equipped to deal with them than the Predacons.

"Pfft. Cyber-rats. *snort*" Headstrong grunted and stepped one that had had the gall to come too close to the Predacon.

"Why do we even bother with something so insignificant?" He asked, turning to look at Razorclaw.

"As you command, Lord Shockwave," Razorclaw responded before giving the cycloptic mech a respectful salute. The Predacon Commander then turned around and headed back towards the doorway where his team stood at the ready. The mission Shockwave had given them was a simple one, but very important nevertheless. If there were small pockets of energy somewhere in the surrounding sectors, then it was possible that a variety of native cyber-life may have found such pockets and built nests around them in order to survive. If these creatures determined that the Decepticons' presence was a threat to them, they may attack the 'cons and jeopardize the overall mission in Kolkular. These cyber-beasts, whether they be mere rats or not, must be located and eliminated.

"Predacons, I have a new assignment for you," Razorclaw began as he stopped in front of his team. "Shockwave has determined that there is a high probability of small pockets of energon within Kolkular that our sensors were unable to pick up. The presence of cyber-rats seems to confirm this likelihood. However, there may be other lifeforms out there much larger and far more dangerous then simple vermin. You four are to investigate the surrounding sectors to determine if these small energy pockets exist and whether or not they have drawn out any cyber-beasts that may pose any kind of threat to our operation here in Kolkular. Take nothing to chance and terminate all creatures that you encounter regardless of the threat level. Be sure to destroy any nests that you find. Under Shockwave's orders, I will not be going with you and will instead remain here in the command hub for now. However, I will be monitoring your progress from here and help coordinate your efforts in the field if I feel it is necessary. Is that understood?"

Razorclaw finished speaking and locked optics with each of his Predacons. He felt no need to place one of them in charge while out on assignment as he was confident that they would all know how to work together as a cohesive unit, which they have done countless times in the past. Besides, none of them had the ability to effectively lead the unit in his absence with the exception of maybe Divebomb. However, the flier's recent failure on a simple scouting mission had given Razorclaw pause to not fully trust him to take charge on this particular operation. Perhaps if Divebomb performed well on this mission then the Predacon leader's opinion would change. Until then, Razorclaw's mind was made up.

"If there are no questions, then you are all to depart immediately," the Predacon Commander spoke to his team. "And remember, it is imperative that you are successful. Failure is not an option and it will not be tolerated by either myself or Lord Shockwave. Dismissed!"

Rampage couldn’t help but chuckle a little at Headstrong’s comment, but he stifled it quickly. Razorclaw wasn’t exactly known for his generous since of humor. The Preadon just found it amusing that the Decepticon’s premiere fighting team was being told to hunt…vermin. Not only that, but the order was coming from one of the stuffiest, logic-driven Decepticons in the whole empire. This sounded like the kind of busy-work that Starscream would give out to Seeker that had annoyed him or something. At the end of the cycle, the only reason Rampage didn’t challenge the order was because of the fact that it had come from such an otherwise rational mind. It had to make sense to him, right?

“Yeah, I pity the cyber-rat that comes too close to either of your beefy bodies,” Rampage snorted before transforming effortlessly in to his more bestial mode. “’Splat’. Heh.”

Turning up his olfactory sensors up another notch, Rampage padded off through one of the connecting corridors to the command hub. If there were any little energy pockets in the area, it only made sense that they would be close to where the major hubs of Cybertronian activity in this area were—or had once been.

"Come out, little rats," Rampage chuckled. "I won't hurt you."

*snort* "Oh aren't you a joker Rampage. I ain't gonna go rat hunting unless the lil' slaggers come to me." Headstrong grunted his response. While he respected Razorclaw, it did little to stop his stubborn behavior. He had decided not to bother with cyber rats and that was final.

"I'll help if you find something worth of fighting." He snarled and lied down. Casually observing what was happening around him, mostly by listening. There was little point in him trusting his optics, he could just see blurry shapes of the other Predacons. There had been something wrong with his optical sensors for almost as long as he could remember but he was too proud to request them being fixed.

"There's nothing here anyway."

Kolkular—Command Hub

On the massive series of screens and holodisplays that now surrounded the Decepticon Military Operations Commander, energy readings spiked and leveled out again, strings of numbers that would be almost completely unintelligible to most Cybertronians flowed vertically and horizontally and various live-feed images came up in the select few locations possessing optical technology that Shockwave had thus far managed to discover were both functional and having been able to successfully reroute a small amount of energy to ensure their functioning. It was a tedious and laborious process by the standards of most Decepticon warriors, and though Shockwave was with few equals or superiors in the battlefield, it was at these sorts of tasks that he excelled at optimal performance levels. All of the foundation work had been established for the linkup between Kolkular and his tower in Polyhex. Once the Decepticons stationed there had finished activating the long-range sensor arrays, he could complete his work, and proceed to the next phase—evaluating the efficacy of the cyberforming process, as he had been originally sent here to do.

As one would expect, Shockwave had intentionally not dispatched Razorclaw along with the other Predacons. Shockwave had calculated that now was the most efficient period in which to address an issue regarding the Predacon roster.

“Interrogative: what is the status of your former Predacon operative, designate Howlstrike?”

Interfactional treachery within the Decepticon ranks was so commonplace that it had become more or less standard operating procedure. It was how an individual typically lost or gained any rank or power of significance. When that treason was committed against the entire Decepticon army, however, it was arguably the highest crime one could commit within their ranks. The termination of another’s life functions was often treated with less severity. With the army spread as it was, Howlstrike’s defection had not received the attention that it would in other circumstances. It was a statistical likelihood, however, that the issue remained a pressing one within the mind of the Predacon Commander. Shockwave wanted to know what had been achieved on that front thus far, so that he could accurately determine how best to proceed.

Once the Predacons were gone, Razorclaw turned his attention back to Shockwave, who was now engulfed in a seemingly endless number of holoscreens. The Predacon Commander stood silently by as the cycloptic mech studied the numerous displays before his singular eye. Razorclaw had wondered why the Military Operations Commander had ordered him to remain behind instead of going out into the field with the rest of his team. It was not something the lead Predacon would ask aloud as he knew better than to question a superior officer. However, his mental query was soon answered as Shockwave asked him about the status of Howlstrike.

Razorclaw growled under his breath at the mere mention of Howlstrike's name. It was a sensitive subject to say the least, and one the Predacon Commander did not like to talk about. The reasons were many, but primarily it was because Howlstrike symbolized a failure of Razorclaw's ability to maintain order within his own team. After all, what kind of commander could not keep his own unit from fracturing as it ultimately did with Howl's insubordination and ultimate defection.

Razorclaw drew closer to Shockwave before answering. "My lord, Howlstrike is still currently a member of the Autobots and has been for many vorns now. He travels with the old rust bucket, Kup, who I understand is his only true friend as many of the other Autobots still do not fully trust him. While he still resembles a Predacon physically, the traitor has discarded his original color scheme and changed it to green and black. The last I heard, Howlstrike was reportedly on Earth, but my team did not encounter him at Area 51 where we found you. Therefore, I can only surmise he arrived shortly thereafter.

"Furthermore, since Howlstrike has sworn vengeance against myself and the other Predacons for his expulsion from our unit, it is very possible that he came here with the Autobots that followed us. What little intel we were able to acquire from Blackwind's scouting mission, it appears that Kup is in charge over in Iacon, which reinforces the notion that Howlstrike is on Cybertron. Wherever the old geezer is, Howlstrike is usually close by. I do hope to finally catch up to him here and end his treacherous existence like I should have done a long time ago."

Razorclaw fell silent, having said all there was to report regarding the traitor. If Howlstrike was, in fact, on Cybertron the Predacon Commander was surprised he hadn't encountered him already. As it were, only the Dinobots had given them any trouble along with one lone Aerialbot. Of course, it was entirely possible that Kup was intentionally keeping Howl away from Polyhex as a means to protect him and to also avoid the unpleasant clash that would surely follow once the Predacons and Howlstrike shared the same battlefield again.

It's only a matter of time before the inevitable happens, Razorclaw thought as he awaited Shockwave's response to his report.
