wtf are you guys talking about? the offical one has been released for awhile now. You can order them from ebay from china sellers - my friends got an offical one which is what made me choose that over the tfcc hercules devastator as it looks more in scale with bruticus

if you want the offical one just head onto ebay

im wanting the ko myself

Many preorders have not been completed yet due to recalled shipments... that's what we're talking about, or at least I am. Ordered from TFSource... about ready to get a refund & go elsewhere. I'll give it another week maybe.

As tempting as that may be, I'm actually a huge fan of Maketoys and Fansproject and prefer to support these little fan-based companies by purchasing their official releases.

Also, I've owned a few KO's in the past and the quality was crap. I found myself regretting not spending the money to get the higher quality product. Those were also very simple molds... nothing even CLOSE to the complexity of Giant. $160+shipping is a lot to pay for something that's junk and I imagine it's going to have to be in order to get costs down that low.

why not just cancel your order with kapow and buy the ko when its released instead?

im just saying its ALOT of money for a toy thats going to do nothing but sit on your shelf. if you ARE wanting to drop that kinda money (£270+) you could hopefully get both the green and yellow ko versions for the same amount of money, christ maybe less if were really really lucky - just look at battle tanker - real one £85ish - fake one £30 - massive difference in price and the ko is really good quality

Sweet to hear it is finally in stock at TFSource! That's where I was waiting for mine from, as well. And to give my own answer to a question, and to beat the dead horse of the anti-KO argument that obviously some people just don't give a smeg about...

Swindle01 wrote:why not just cancel your order with kapow and buy the ko when its released instead?

Because, obviously, I like to spend lots of money to support the companies making toys I like, so that people of a certain caliber (which politeness will cause me to refrain from using more colourful metaphors to describe) can then go and get less expensive KOs of them that wouldn't exist in the first place if the legitimate toy I and other like minded people are paying for and supporting didn't exist.

So, you're welcome, Swindle, for that sweet KO you'll get in part because of the legitimate toy I helped pay for. Hope you enjoy it.

Have a nice day.

(This thread really helps to illustrate why I wish Third Party toys and KO toys had seperate forums...)

Don't hate people who can save up money in bad times to buy something nice. If money is that tight I don't think spending even $200 on a toy is a good idea. If money is that super tight I'd just stick with retail. Which I have done in the past.

so its ok to hate people why buy kos? i guess all these so called fans who purchased the ko shadow scyther MUST be evil by that definition then....

jesus christ people calm down these are toys ffs

All im saying is spending £270+ on a toy is retarded. At the very most devastator should cost 120-150 MAX but asking 250+ is just....well its insane. If you can spend that much money on a toy then good on you - i salute you - most of us in the real world have a job+wife+kids+bills+girlfriend+family etc etc so sadly cannot afford to spend 250+ on a toy which will just sit on a shelf. If maketoys wanted my money to begin with then lower the asking price which will make more people buy the item off them rather than purchasing the kos which means the money goes directly to maketoys

i guess fansproject+toyworld and all the others are evil to because they take money away from hasbro who paid takara to use the rights to make transformers....oh nose!

Motto: "No matter where you go, there you are."
Hate is such a strong word... And part of me wishes I could apologize for coming on so strong in my last post... but you know what? That part is somewhat overwhelmed by the disgust I feel any time I see anyone whining about the price of what is, essentially, a non-essential luxuary item, and then justifying getting a questionably legitimate copy of that item to themselves by saying, "I want it, but I don't want to pay that much for it, so it is perfectly fine for me to get it through other means."

This is by no means limited to Transformers. I recall one time being in a gathering with some friends and one person there going on about how her boyfriend had all of some TV series downloaded so they could watch it, and when I asked about that her response was that the DVDs were too expensive, but they wanted it so why shouldn't they have it? As she said that, I thought about my nice DVD collection at home, which included that TV series, a collection that I've worked hard to aquire. And this woman just feeling entitled to, for free, enjoy the same thing I worked hard to enjoy... that just really rubbed me the wrong way.

Mind you, I know you're not getting this KO for free, but it is presumably going to be for a greatly reduced price, and is still a copy that is going to put no money back into the hands of the people who worked hard to create this item for our enjoyment.

You want to do that? Fine. I can't stop you. But don't go around bragging about how much you are entitled to do such a thing, and you especially crossed the line in my opinion by encouraging other people who seemed more interested in owning a genuine article of Maketoys Giant Type 61 that they should cancel their preorders and get the KO instead.

Follow that to it's logical extreme conclusion. Let us say, somehow, you convince others that buying the official product is foolish. Preorders everywhere are cancled. Too late for many who already have it in hand, but they now feeling foolish for not listening to your sage wisdom, remember this for the next expensive third party item they want and they wait for the KO of that one. Suddenly, the third party producers find their products are not selling. There is no more financial incentive for them to create. They close up shop. So much for the next great KO you were looking forward to... with no genuine article to knock off, the KO won't exist.

I look at the various things I collect (DVDs, Transformers & related third party items, various books) and I am proud of those collections. And I am not a rich man. I work hard for what I have. But I know that my money goes to those who produce the things that I love, so that hopefully there can be more of that thing.

I'll admit I've skirted the line on occasion... I have some KO seekers that I don't feel entirely kosher about having bought, although having six official uses of the mold does blunt that a bit. I have a few anime series that just aren't officially available in a translated, Region 1 format, or a few other videos that I downloaded and burned to disc that have never received a domestic release. There's a manga series currently being published in Japan I've been reading online translations of.

But you know what? In the case of those aformentioned videos, all of which when I made my homemade discs I was very doubtful they'd ever see official releases? On a few of them I've been surprised, such as when the 1996 Doctor Who telefilm finally had a domestic release after years of being in rights hell, and I made sure to purchase the official version to replace my burned copy as soon as I could. That manga series I mentioned? They just started releasing it domestically, and the first volume came in my most recent Amazon order. So perhaps I have a touch of entitlement myself, but at least I'm not a total hypocrate and in most cases my entitlement is, "Man, I wish I had available to me this awesome thing to buy, but since I litarally can not do so even if I had the money to, what can I do instead to hold me over until hopefully such a time as I can do that?"

And at least my entitlement (a) isn't one that will negatively effect the producers of the things I enjoy and (b) isn't one that I go around encouraging others to participate in.

Heh... On a somewhat personal, and hopefully not too political note, as someone who usually leans Democrat and generally is in favour of many social welfare programs (as long as they aren't abused) all of my ranting against "entitlements" feels a bit funny... But, I suppose, there is a world of difference between food on the table, a roof over one's head, or essential medical care and -- to bring the point home -- non-essential, luxuary collectables that no one is entitled to and everyone could happily live without.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Sadly, since this seems to be a long standing argument concerning KO's that seems like it will never be resolved and likely after this post would just continue in a meaningless back and forth of, "I'm right in what I believe!" "No, I'm right in what I believe!" this shall be my last word on the subject in this thread... unless I see a comment that I feel genuinely qualifies for an intellegent response. But otherwise, I've no wish to pointlessly drag on an idological debate between two immobile sides.

yes indeed...

however there toys - no matter which way you look at this - there toys - end of - and toys are not ment to cost a small fortune

if maketoys wanted my money then they should have made the prices more affordable and not stupidly high. Otherwise you just end up with other crazydevy companies

If you want the KOs that's fine. But don't tell people who can and HAVE saved up money because they want the official versions that they're foolish. A $200 KO is not cheap by any means.

I don't hate people who buy KOs, but I do hate it when people to prech buying habits to me. If you're in "the real world with bills to pay" what are you doing spending a wad of cash on a $200 KO? If you'ved saved for it and can afford it, then don't tell me I'm wrong to save twice as much for what I want for the reasons I want. We're talking about spening tons of cash on hobby items. Don't be the pot calling the kettle black.

Baseless assumptions, you obviously have no idea what your talking about.
Hasbro mainline toys are cheap and made for humans 3 and up.
Most of the adult toy lines in the world ( bandai DX, Soul of chogokin, 3A, 1/6 figures)
Are all really expensive.

I get it, your cheap, and you don't take your hobby seriously, because to
You these are just kids toys. Your the perverbial "I'll wait till its on clearence"
Collector who just aids in companies never producing a said item again, only in this case
Make it harder for the company to exist.

no im someone who doesnt take to 'baiting' and wanting to get a topic back on track

im also someone with comman sense who realises if i have X bill to pay and X amount of money but still am after X item for either myself or the house/wife etc but cannot afford X item i then realise i have to be ADULT with money and work out the best option. Most of that time it usually comes down to being an adult and realising X amount of money on a TOY (call it adult collecting if you like - they still come classed under toy) is usually to much and have to work out the best solution. When i paid X bill or whatever and i see a cheaper version of X item im after but is still pretty close to the original X item i was after in the first place - then i dont see why im not allowed it

Like i said please get topic back on track

I dont see how hardcore nutcases can have ago at me simply because i buy KOs when you yourselves have purchased items such as hegemon or igears prime or FP city commader. Those companies take money away from Hasbro and hasbro have been trying to shut those companies down for ages now. Only reason they get away with it is because there never say 'Transformers' or show autobot/decepticon logos etc

so please keep this topic back on track

i want the ko maketoys devastator - get used to it! this is the KO thread ffs

Because Hegemon, and add-on's aren't KO's, they are homages to original characters.

This is kinda my fault for bringing up the fact that Giant is shipping late to an awful lot of people, myself included. I agree that this topic is about the KO version, which unfortunately is a reality. My feelings aside, I guess this needs to get back on track and be about the KO version. I'll try to necrobump the original Giant topic to vent my spleen on still not having this magnificent toy in hand.
