LV-117 - Future Imperfect

The noose around Fortress Maximus' neck tightens. Will the Decepticon 2nd fleet led by mighty Scorponok finally subjugate their old nemesis? And if they do, what will be the fate of the Autobot resistance?

“It appears we have our work cut out for us, my friend,” Lockdown said. Maximus nodded and moved to realign his optimum positioning so he could fire off the cleanest and most direct shots possible.

"That we do," Maximus said, though he was more referring to his own precarious needle that he was attempting to thread for the sake of the lives under his command. With the appearance of the combiners below, however, that was becoming exceedingly more difficult.

As he and Lockdown spoke, another mech had briefly made her presence known. One of Scorponok's. Had to be. Or possibly one of Lockdown's. In other circumstances, it might have put the large Autobot in a somewhat more defensive stance. Now? Pretty much unnecessary. All of the assorted mechs around here seemed to share the same goal as it was: take down Jhiaxus.

"We have company," Maximus said, giving a brief nod in the direction of the mech who had earlier attempted to get their attention. "Scorponok think I need some babysitting?"

He hadn't exactly been trying to hide his whereabouts. Instead, he was just doing his best to give his fellow Autobots cover fire by firing at the chaosteros. His results had been pretty minimal, thus far. Nevertheless, Maximus would do what he could to assist. For now? That consisted of another brutal volley from his weapons systems.
___

LV-117--Surface

Mindwipe screeched in abject horror as the combined form of the Terrorcons, some new monstrosity he could only have conjured in his nightmares, leveled an energy blast of flame and plasma in the direction of himself and a cohort of Decepticons, sending them all scrambling in different directions even as some were consumed by the blast.

The Semper Tyrannis--Bridge

Reflector's digits worked diligently across multiple panels, rerouting the signal that Scorponok had transmitted across the fleet while also preparing the counterpulse.

>>"All ships, prepare to fire counterpulse,"<< Reflector ordered. Almost immediately, digital and verbal acknowledgements began to filter through the chaos of the battle taking place far below the Decepticon battlecruiser. >>"Firing now. Maximum amplification."<<
___

LV-117--Surface

Monstructor mirthlessly stepped on a Seeker that had been swiped out of the air by the Chaosteros, a grin spreading on the gestalt's face as he felt its spark struggle briefly before ultimately succumbing.

Now....

...........

....wait. New clarity.

Monstructor's optics narrowed as he turned back to face the gargantuan creature that was currently leveling a destructive blast of energy near the base of the mountain.

Sword in hand, Monstructor's grin returned. With impressive stealth, the gestalt began to ascend the creature's metallic tail structure and work his way up the monster's back.

At the first sign of give in the creature's armor, the gestalt plunged his sword into the chaosteros, prompting an audio-shattering roar.

Monstructor then resumed his climb, searching out his next point of attack.
___

LV-117--Skies

Cyclonus stealthfully whizzed past the chaosteros, too fast for the creature to ever have any hope of targeting him directly.

As he did, he witnessed something. It was a first, yes. But ultimately just one of many firsts that Cyclonus had witnessed since his dispatchment to the command of Lord Scorponok: a gestalt climbing Jhiaxus' abomination. More importantly, it was attacking.

Before Nightbird could unleash any more scolding on to Bomb Burst, she heard Fortress Maximus make a remark.

Insidious wrote:"We have company," Maximus said, giving a brief nod in the direction of the mech who had earlier attempted to get their attention. "Scorponok think I need some babysitting?"

Her optics dimmed in irritation. “Heh…” she said softly.
---

Bomb Burst looked a little weary. Though he understood what Nightbird was feeling, when a fuss was made over her gender she felt others thought she was fragile… and she certainly wasn't. She got angry. But she became tunnel visioned on it if something pressing didn't interrupt. Fortress Maximus calling her a babysitter didn't help.

“My armor breached.” He said softly to her, trying to get her processor off her anger.
--

“Humm…” Nightbird acknowledged Bomb Burst solemnly.

She turned, carefully, to face Fortress Maximus. "I am not a babysitter..” She finally addressed the Autobot.
---

“We needed adequate cover from the rain.” Bomb Burst interjected, hoping to steer the conversation away from Nightbird's venting. With the pressing issue of a giant monster trying to kill them looming over them and all. “Since we're lacking the protective goop you got.”
--

Nightbird took a few measured steps into the cave with Bomb Burst following. She stopped once Bomb Burst was out of the rain.

“We just didn't want you to shoot at us, so I figured we'd get an invite in before entering.” She finished, putting away her katana on her back, slowly, and one by one. Not wanting to look ready to fight… at least ready to fight the Autobots. Her optics trained on Fortress Maximus… not trusting him one bit.
---

“We don't have to stay.” Bomb Burst grumbled. “I'd be happy to find shelter elsewhere.”
--

“I'm sure Fortress Maximus shares your sentiment, boss.” Nightbird added. “But not sure how much moving around is wise. Menasor is… engaged with the Chaosteros and a new combiner showed up.”
--

Bomb Burst turned to look outside. Sure enough, Menasor was climbing up the Chaosteros and a very Terrorcon in appearance combiner had joined the fray.

Wait, I’ve got the eeriest feeling that somethin’ evil is lurkin’. Now I ain’t some conspiracy theorist, but somethin’ here is afoot.

Oh yeah, I’m an arm, not a foot.

The rest of the experience was a hazy, unravelling pile of confusion and fogginess for Bristleback. The last he could remember was charging down at the Chaosteros. Then, out of nowhere, it was as if his brain had been shot by a lone, silent cerebral bullet. Minus the pain, of course, but with all the same confusion. He felt his innards rearranging themselves, without his command, and the teal beast found himself feeling rather uncomfortable. Once more, part of the process, ain’t it?

Underwater battle

Seawing was enjoying this fight. It been such a long time where most of the aquatic Condps been able to fight together against an enemy. Sadly the Bots have very limited aquatic mechs to fight and even most of those weren't worth the effort with maybe exception of the triple change Broadside. Seawing opened up a channel to the aquatic forces agaun.

>>This beast should be dead soon. I would have expected the mad scientist to toss a much stronger opponent at us. The question I have for all of you is what do we do with the carcass? The Terrorcons will eat almost anything but not sure they will be able to digest this much organic slag.<<

To prove Seawing's point, up the beast is finally slowing down thanks to his continual assault. He will need to calibrate his weapons for larger creatures especially since they have new gestalts . With the slowing down, it made it easier to get better shots with his weapons and in turn making it easier with the combine might of his fellow sea creatures to take it down.

If he had the ability to get up, he’d probably have crushed some seekers and vehicons on the way out. “Tch, the nerve of them.” Hun-grrr had made off with his arm. Sure did feel a bit strange.

If he had a respiratory system like a human, he’d have let out a deep sigh at this point. He stared up at the ceiling of the medbay. Maybe it was time now. Time to get up and get out.

Except, who knew how much fuel he had running through his systems? It didn’t feel like a whole lot. He dragged himself up best he could and called over a seeker who happened to be in the medbay.

“I want to watch what’s happening. Make it happen.”

The seeker ignored him at first, gave him a glance after a few kliks and slowly turned around and walked out of the medbay. Slaggit. He was still on the berth, no contact with anyone else of importance. His chassis was dented. There was dirt from Elba sprinkled over his torso. At least my modules are intact.

And then he felt an urge in his body. Not his own. Felt foreign. It wasn’t strong, but it was there. Jhiaxus.

His optics burned with an intense urge. This time, the urge was his own.

“Slaggit.”

Nosecone felt different now. The urge to transform into his gestalt limb now belonged to him instead of being forced. With control being his again, he reshifted into his drill mode again and moved forward. Once he was in the open area, he saw what he hoped for, a lab of sorts. He transformed into robot mode while still fighting the urge to go limb mode. This sensation made him appreciate Springer and the other triple changers. Would the Technobots be considered triple changers or would they be apart of the gestalt category. Such qualifications weren't him to decide. He looked around and saw schematics of two creatures with one being a flying one and the other a sea beast. Then he saw what looked like more gestalt schematics and possible code for the mental processes.

>>Fotress Maximus, this is Nosecone again. I don't know what happened but I regained control of my body for most part. I am fighting the urge to transform into my respective limb for this Logicor. I did stumble upon the scientist lab and it seemed he was crazier than we had thought. I found blue prints for the flying monstrosity you are fighting now as well as some sort of sea creature. He was also working on another gestalt project to perfect it I guess. His research is remarkable if a bit crazy. I will download what I can.<<

For all of his patience – sometimes reaching beyond hundreds of vorns of planning and careful moves to reach his end goals – Scorponok hated waiting. Particularly when the victory was almost in his grasp. Thus, Reflector’s apparent tardiness made him grit his teeth in anger. It shouldn’t have taken this long for the data-link to conclude. Had he been too optimistic with his calculations regarding the altered atmosphere’s effects on their signals? It was certainly taking longer than he had anticipated and his Decepticons were paying a price too high for it. Neither Monstructor or the new… magnificent Terrorcon combiner were exactly aiming to disable those that were unlucky enough to get on their way.

>>"Firing now. Maximum amplification."<<

Finally.

The counter pulse had worked. Both combiners struck free of Jhiaxus’ influence, turning their attention from Decepticons and Autobots into Jhiaxus’ titanic monster. As Monstructor chose to climb the chaosteros’ back, the Terrorcon abomination – after a moment of hesitation - chose latch himself into the creature’s underbelly. Sinking its talons into the monster’s flesh, the combiner - with a monstrous show of strength and savagery – tore its way through the beast’s considerable cybernetically augmented hide, burrowing his way into the enormous reptilian.

”Well, well. I’d say it certainly does act like the sum of its parts.” Apeface commented from Scorponok’s side. ”You might want to hurry up boss if you want to get your claws on Jhiaxus.”

”You might be right but the irony of his creations bringing his own downfall is quite delicious, is it not?” Scorponok replied back, still content on following the spectacle before him instead of making his own move.

”True that.” Apeface chuckled, ”Just give the word when it is time and we will cover your back boss.”

OOC: Terrorcon players, feel free to attack the chaosteros with Abominus.

So, it appears you are everything I expected, Maximus, Lockdown thought as Maximus maneuvered into position. Yes, understanding how to work mechs was a talent Lockdown had developed over the eons. It helped when those he did business with were so predictable. Oddly enough, he thought of the Autobots as being the wild cards in a negotiation as he rarely did business with them. Their penchant for wanting a foe returned in relatively one piece took most of the fun out of his job.

Besides, he knew it’d eventually get boring dealing with a group of mechs that were so high and mighty. Though they did pay up when a job was done…

Movement caught his optic before Maximus spoke, but he kept his faceplate even. Instead, he made careful note of the mech. She was good at her job as he hadn’t noticed her or her comrades until they made themselves known. They were too good, and he wondered how much of his conversation they had heard.

Fortress Maximus wrote:"We have company," Maximus said, giving a brief nod in the direction of the mech who had earlier attempted to get their attention. "Scorponok think I need some babysitting?"

“Maybe not you, Autobot.” He left it at that. He was sure he got his meaning across. It was a gamble on his part, but he wagered it would further help Maximus to honor their agreement.

Nightbird wrote:"I am not a babysitter..”

Lockdown could only stare in awe as the group started explaining their reasoning, then began bickering with each other. They are bickering, aren’t they? Amateurs. Lockdown turned away from them and focused on the chaosteros.

He paused as one of the newly created gestalts attacked the creature. For the moment, he felt he knew why Scorponok wanted Jhiaxus terminated so badly.

His audio receptors rang following Monstructor’s latest attack, but he quickly shook off the effects as his optics locked on the gapping hole the combiner’s sword had left. A way in. Smirking, he sent an order to his ship to prepare a launch sequence. With the chaosteros’ attention on the combiner, he knew this was the time he’d been waiting for.

This won’t take long.

With a grace that belied his size, Lockdown leapt down the remainer of the mountainside, and as soon as he landed on the ground, he transformed into his 1960s style Cougar. His wheels spun as they sought purchase in the mostly mechanized soil. When they caught, he tore forward, swerving to avoid the debris, mechs, and stray laser blasts.

A few laser shots grazed him, and more than a couple of mechs left scratch marks as he knocked them to the side. He wouldn't allow anything to slow him down now.

Nearing the back of the monster, he sped up, and using a partially flattened mechanized tree as a ramp, launched into the air. Transforming in mid flight, he landed on the lower portion of the chaosteros and slammed his hook home to keep from falling off.

Grunting as energon surged through him at the prospect of acquiring his target, he began climbing, pulling himself up toward the opening, continuing to use his hook to secure his grip.

Scorponok’s forces may have given him this opportunity, but he would ensure it was him alone that returned with Jhiaxus’ head as proof. It would make a perfect trophy for his collection.

“The slag?.......”

Gullet briefly halted his activity as he saw an flying Cybertronian soar past him and onto the monstrous hide of the Chaosteros; his optics furrowed with frustration and steam slipped through his gritted jaws.

“If Gullet cannot complete a single kill, he’ll bring down the kill with him!!!!!!!!”

That’s when the Decepticon warrior halted his fire and crawled beneath the large beasts underside; strafing with every step to avoid the monsters armored tail and the falling debri above him. Gullet bit his own bullet as debri scratched his acid burnt hide, the destruction of this beast and it’s master fueled the grunts pain tolerance as he managed to finally be under between the beasts legs. “Swift care must be done for this....or we’ll all be smooshed...” thought Gullet, as he then took a few glances towards the cracked earth under the Chaosteros feet, large armored toes cracking craters. A sharp grin went under the warriors lips as he went to swift business.....

Gurgling his acid once more, the Decepticon blew several streams under the Chaosteros footholds and into the cracks; sizzling and eating away all of the hardened rock keeping everything steadied to the mountainside. If burnt enough and given ample amount of weight with the added Combiners above, Gullets acid would weaken the mountain floors stability and drop the sinister beast to the debri below. It was a psychopathic and insane idea but it worked....in the warriors head that is. Steaming orange stomach acid soared past debri and mechs; while Gullet scorched through rocky floor and increased the foaming flow for his plan to work.

That’s when the ground began to blacken and crackle in waves, long trailing webs of cracks formed under the beasts legs.....

The sudden freedom that came was both liberating and maddening for Cutthroat.

All he’d been able to do was plot killing the one responsible for forcing him into subjugation. It wasn’t like Hun-Grrr’s rule of might makes right. No, this had been something far worse.

His desire to rend and destroy merged with the similar emotions he felt from his fellow Terrorcons. For once, they moved as one — even Cutthroat’s anger toward Hun-Grrr was forgotten — lost in their desire to spill the energon of their enemy.

It didn’t matter to Cutthroat that he was an arm. What mattered was the sheer pleasure that coursed through him as he was plunged into mechanical and organic parts, causing fluids to gush and pour over him and his teammates.

His his energon lust joining the others' and fueling them, Cutthroat had an impulse to lash out and drive their arm (him) deeper into the chaosteros. He was rewarded as he was pulled back, then driven deeper as the other appendages, each a Terrorcon, continued to rip and tear into the creature.

Their desire to inflict more damage was heightened with the agonized cries coming from the creature.

This was how a hunt was meant to go, and once more, they were.

"Don't flatter yourself, Lockdown, not here to watch you either." Bomb Burst said flatly as Nightbird was explaining their reasoning for being present. Which either Lockdown felt was unbelievable (in honesty, if a 'Con had told him that he would probably not believe them), or was completely floored by it. It was hard for him to tell why Lockdown was dumbfoundedly staring, he had no idea that the bounty hunter thought they were bickering.

"Oh that's Lockdown?" Nightbird whispered after they had finished the explanation. Bomb Burst nodded as Lockdown sped out to attack the Chaosteros. "Huh..." She watched as he jumped off the ledge and headed for the valley below. "Bit of a show off..." She muttered.

Skullgrin had an inkling he'd catch hell for not responding to Bludgeon back on the Semper Tyrannus. He just wasn't in the position to even answer his comm at the time. But he had made it, complete with meat suit on, when the rest of the troops went through the space bridge.

Cursing the combiners, and a little startled by the sudden combination of the Terrorcons, he plinked at the Chaosteros with all his heavy ordinance. If anything, Skullgrin had explosives. And that was where most of his attention was at.

He did end up nearly falling over Snarler as he and Carnivac made their way to Bludgeon. He began cursing his teammates, but ended up just following them up to where Bludgeon was.

---

Bludgeon transformed to robot mode as Menasor began climbing on the Chaosteros back. He paused longer as the Terrorcon combiner went for the belly of the beast. Those two would be far more effective weapons. The irony of Scorponok turning the very creatures Jhiaxus had summoned, the ancient scientist's own creations against him left a satisfaction in Bludgeon's 'cold' spark.

He looked to Carnivac, Snarler, and Skullgrin. "Take care not to hit the combiners." He said. "Not that we could harm them, but no need to distract them from Jhiaxus." He ordered. "Bomb Burst, send us targeting information."

As much as he would love nothing more than to sink his swords into the Chaosteros and relieve Jhaixus' head from his torso, that was not his job. His sword was for Scorponok right now, and not his own glory. Besides, Bludgeon was always three moves ahead of everyone else, he knew where the role of loyal soldier could lead him.

--

Bomb Burst, from his vantage point on the mountainside, could get a considerably clearer view of the battle. He turned slightly to see the fight, sending quick information to the entire team on the open, vulnerable spots on the Chaosteros. However he never turned his back on Fortress Maximus and the crew in the cave.

---

Bugly continued his attack with the Arial units, adding to Bomb Burst's intell from his closer view. They had slid back into old routine, where Bugly and Bomb Burst would provide the targeting information for the team. There was never an argument or either flier feeling passed over, they both just gave the pertinent information without thought. Bludgeon's crew was nothing if not effortlessly in sync.

---

Iguanus was trailing around, halfway between the floor of the valley and Halfway up the mountainside, occasionally slipping down below Bludgeon's line of fire and artfully avoiding the feet of the combiners and the Chaosteros. He occasionally hit the Chaosteros with his Hurricane Blaster, in hopes of at least trying to throw the creature off.

The underwater demolitionist seized the opportunity to strike, tightening his grip around the giant sea creature’s cyberformed tail. He dug his tentacle’s hooks into its skin and its circuitry, and within the blink of an eye, hundreds of thousands of volts were being injected straight into the monstrosity. Surely, this should weaken it enough for the others to finish it off.

Lockdown’s hook dug in and again and again, and Lockdown pulled himself up, excruciating meter by meter. It wasn’t often he regretted taking a job or how he chose to execute it, but he was starting to wonder if his logic circuits had been damaged by the acid rain.

He was known for his efficiency as well as his brutality, and at the moment, only the latter was an asset.

As he reached for a handhold, the chaosteros jerked, surging as it tried to shake the combiners from it, and nearly threw him off. His hook held, though it torn a jagged line through the creature’s hide until it hit a cybernetic implant.

Never thought I’d owe a mark for helping me, he thought as he grabbed the edge of the metal plate and pulled himself back up. He hadn’t slid far, but given how much effort he’d expended to this point, every inch was precious.

All his struggles did was reinforce and heighten his desire to rip Jhiaxus apart. Had he been elsewhere, he would’ve relished tearing the mech’s servos out one at a time, but that wasn’t an option.

As he pulled himself further toward the large gash made by Monstructor’s sword, he contemplated helping Jhiaxus to escape long enough to learn some of his secrets and keeping those that could help him.

But then he remembered the size of the fleet in orbit and the number of Decepticons on the planet alone. He’d have to settle for the agree upon price. And maybe something from Jhiaxus’ laboratory.

A laser bolt exploded the flesh next to him, covering him with small chunks and earning Seeker a glare. Lockdown would remember the mech’s coloring for when their paths crossed again.

And cross they would.

But first…

He reached forward with his hand and found purchase on the edge of the gash. Grinning as he imagined the each of entrance such a wound offered, he pulled himself up and…

Flesh. Nothing but flesh.

Lockdown clenched his hand tighter, crushing and ripping the handful of flesh from the creature’s wound.

Still, there was a chance given its location just below the creature’s center and Jhaixus’ penchant for hiding in the most secure location possible, he felt he was close.

He buried his hook in one side of the gash and his hand on the other. The opening was wide enough for him to slip in, and as he himself into the opening, he braced himself with his legs and hook to keep from slipping, and grabbed his chainsaw.

The roar of it as he began cutting a tunnel drowned out most of the noise from outside. He was glad it didn’t down out the creature’s roars. Soon, Jhiaxus would be making much the same sounds.

To think as a unit the Terrorcons were already considered to be one of the most bloodthirsty and ferocious teams under Scorponok’s reign, but this— thing... It was almost as nightmarish as Monstructor. The five monstrous psyches all melded to one single entity, driven by a primal fury not seen in eons.

The Terrorcon Combiner let loose a animalistic roar as it charged for the large reptilian creature screeching out in pain from Monstructor’s sword. The only thing the abomination could process was its shared need to kill, a trait each Terrorcon alone all relished in. It’s massive hands reached out towards the beast, clawed actuators gripped into the scales and flesh and sunk deeper into the various organic tissues as the Terrorcons tried to force it down. If it’s hold was good enough, then it could go apart ripping it apart like the animal it was.

-

“And I thought we were brutal.” Snapdragon noted to Apeface as he watched the gestalts try and take down the giant reptile creature. “Just glad they aren’t shooting at us this time.”

Banzai-Tron admired the sight of the gestalts beginning to tear into the beast. Scorponok’s latest pet project seems to be bearing the fruit he’s sought for so long, and he had Jhiaxus do half the work for him. Clever. The head of the DSS began making several mental notes to update his records on the Terrorcons for this.

“Impressive work, Lord Scorponok.” Banzai-Tron stated to the warlord amidst the carnage. “Another impressive cog in the Great War machine.”

And now with all of the Second Fleet’s ground forces moving through the acid rain in the assault, the crystalocution master reopened his comm to finish his conversation with his local agent.

>>”Counterpunch, Lord Scorponok has sent the Autobot prisoners ahead of the assault. I want you to link up with them and report on their progress. Call it a suspicious hunch but I fear that Jhiaxus might be able to persuade them to his favor if we are unlucky. Break off from the main attack, observe and report.”<<

Closing the line, Banzai-Tron lifted his rifle with his sights set for the monstrous beast, firing suppressive fire to try and aid the Combiners.

LV-117 - Seas

Not only was there Monstructor, but now another Combiner in Scorponok’s fleet. Snaptrap caught sight of it for only a moment but did not let it distract him from his current task at hand. Seeing how his sonic shell cannons weren’t doing much, the Butcher of the Bogs shifted to his robot mode and drew his incendiary sword. Now back in his element, Snaptrap was practically without equal and this megalodon of a sea creature was going to taste his blade.

Leaping from his undersea perch, Snaptrap swam for the shark-like creature with his sword held tight within his grip, Amber optics locked onto the nearest of the creature’s fins. When he got close enough, the Seacon commander bore his clawed actuators into the think hide of the sea creature to secure his grip before driving his sword deep into the flesh and metal enhancements of Jhiaxus’s pet fish. When his blade was deep enough, Snaptrap ignited the built in incendiary device.

”We are brutal.” Apeface quipped back at Snapdragon. ”Sheesh. Have some respect for all of our hard work. Gotta admit though, I am mighty glad the big guys turned against Jhiaxus after looking like they were going to stomp all over us.”

”Impressive yes Banzai-Tron.” Scorponok stated matter of factly, ignoring the Horrorcons and their small-talk. His keen optics observing the combiners’ attacks against the enormous cybernetically enhanced chaosteros. ”But perhaps not as much of a success I had hoped for.”

Not waiting for Banzai-Tron asking for a clarification, Scorponok continued, ”The Terrorcon combiner is exceeding all expectations on its physical prowess. It is clearly superior to Monstructor and Logicor. Just look at its strength. All my sensor data is confirming it reaching force outputs far beyond what has been recorded of actions of earlier combiners. Which is not surprising given how formidable the Terrorcons are physically when compared to Monstercons or Technobots.”

”Its mental capabilities however…” Scorponok continued, shaking his head slightly. ”Are leaving much to be desired.”

”Everything I have seen so far suggest it is barely nothing more than an animal. No proper plan of action.” The hard-edged Decepticon leader added. ”Powerful certainly. Full of fury, obviously. But no intellect other than base level killer instinct.”

”Abominus, heh heh.” Apeface chuckled. Having figured he had just came up with a clever name for the combiner. ”An abomination minus the brain module? Get it? Heh.”

Scorponok merely sighed and shook his head at the Horrorcon. ”Too true.”

Nosecone continued to study the schematics as he downloaded them to his memory banks. The designs were remarkable and scary at the same time. The enigma was the processor of the combined form. The unknown was how the different personalities would mix among possible combinations. The possible candidates the scientist had initially shocked him but then made sense after further examination of the notes. If Nosecone understood things correctly, there could be several possible groups among both factions who could undergo the process but the question is to what degree of success.

"Lightspeed, Afterburner, and Strafe , what you three make of this plan? It looks like what we were put through basically if I understand my internal diagnostic scans. I never realized the mad scientist had his spark on creating this many giants until he perfected it. Let us hope someone will stop this madness before it gets too far out of hand."

Weapon: Railgun
[LV-117 Mountainside]

Skyfall was, in all complete and blatant honesty, terrified as slag. There was so much going on around him, and he couldn’t tell what was happening. Everyone was attacking the chaosteros, and it was absolute mayhem. With Monstructor now on its back, there was even more pandemonium than before.

And then came the thundering roar.

Skyfall flinched hard, just because of how insane and asinine everything felt. What was reality anymore? With the other new combiner rising up in the distance, Wheelie’s words were not too far off from what he had wanted to say.

Wheelie wrote:“What in the pit is that thing?!”

“It’s… it’s another one of those combining things! And it’s… it’s the Terrorcons, oh Primus, save us save us save us…”

:BOT: --> :CON:

[LV-117 Surface]

”OFF TO HELL!”

The behemoth of a monstrosity swung its sword across once again, hacking and slashing through the cyborg skin of the chaosteros. He had already brought himself far up, and with his animalistic instincts, Monstructor had perched himself on the beast’s upper back. With a furious swipe, he carved a deep gash on the chaosteros’s back, before plunging his blade right through the bloody mess of wires, prompting another audio-receptor-shattering roar from the beast. But he wouldn’t stop. Oh, no, there was no time to stop. This was REVENGE, and there was no way it was going to stop here.

Monstructor unleashed a truly terrifying shriek, as if a hundred hellhounds had simultaneously decided to wail in anger. Another slash through the bottom of the increasingly deep cut. Followed right by another one. And another one. Pure hate channelled itself through each strike, precise and hard.

At some point, he stopped cutting open the beast with his sword and just thrusted his arm in, forcefully grabbing the absolutely gorey mess that had become of the innards. With a quick yank, he pulled out some things that could only lead to a grotesque, revolting sight, and the near destruction of anyone’s audio receptors in within the vicinity.

:CON: --> :BOT:

[LV-117 Surface]

Witnessing the massive beast of destruction wreck havoc all around was one thing. Witnessing two giant, destructive gestalts was another. Safe to say, Punch had seen enough for one lifetime. Between the Autobots and the Decepticons, this was definitely up there in terms of absurdity. Still, he couldn’t break character just yet. There was work to be done. The DSS head, located not too far from him, was communicating through a private comm-line. Of course, secrecy from the others.

Banzaitron wrote:>>”Counterpunch, Lord Scorponok has sent the Autobot prisoners ahead of the assault. I want you to link up with them and report on their progress. Call it a suspicious hunch but I fear that Jhiaxus might be able to persuade them to his favor if we are unlucky. Break off from the main attack, observe and report.”<<

>>”Roger that.”<<

Counterpunch stowed his weapon, sprinting his way into the thick of the forest, or at least what was left of it. Once he was safely out of view, he rolled into his alt mode. Not the best alt mode for terrain like this, but since much of it was already cyberformed, the spy didn’t have much trouble engaging hover mode and twisting through the narrow gaps between the trees. There was a lot of distance to cover still, and-

Monstructor wrote:”OFF TO HELL!”

Primus, what the frag?!

What followed next was a series of harshly distorted roars, and the fearsome silhouette of a combiner on top of the chaosteros.

Punch had no time to admire or be threatened by this view. He had no time for anything. He continued driving down until he was at the base of the mountainside on which the Autobots were standing. He transformed, but instead of a mean, thuggish Decepticon, he was now the Autobots’ resident double agent.

A wave of emotions swept over him. Joy, from seeing his fellow Autobots again after so long. Sadness, from seeing how battered they looked. Guilt, from not having helped them enough during Garrus-9’s crusade. Fear, from what could possibly happen to them. And finally, relief, from having changed out of his disguise, his alter ego who threatened his mental well-being and perhaps everything about him. It was a dangerous job, and he often hated it. But what other choice did he have?

He started to ascend the mountainside, trying not to die in the process.

He could deal with the emotions later. Right now, he needed to get up there and get with the people who he stood with. Strength is found in numbers, and any number greater than the current was good for them.

Halfway through, Punch disabled his comm-links. Banzaitron could wait for a message. He brought himself up on the final rock, having bested the treacherous mountain.

And there they were. Pointblank. Whirl. Brainstorm. Fortress Maximus. Skyfall. Wheelie. The Technobots. Countless others.

None looked like they were in good shape.

“Hey, everyone,” he began, trying to draw attention towards himself. This would be one of the few times when he would try to do that. “Sorry, I’ve been trying to uncover as much as I can while I was undercover.”

He spotted Lockdown in the distance, talking to Fort Max. Of course. Lockdown’s the only kind of guy who’d be trying to bargain in the middle of hell.

Skyfall looked over at the newly arrived Punch. If robots could cry tears of joy, this would be the moment when Skyfall would have let loose. “Oh my Primus, Punch! You’re alive!”

“Barely. Too many opportunities that could have gone wrong. It was difficult enough making it here. I managed to get a decent excuse from the-”

The spy turned his head to the chaosteros, who was now in full view.

“Actually, let’s focus on that thing for now,” he said, drawing out his double barreled mortar. He switched on his comm, activating his Decepticon shell-matrix simultaneously, to disguise his messages as being from Counterpunch.

>>”Banzaitron, I have reached the Autobo-”<< (Counter)Punch was cut off by a piece of blasted debris to his side. >>”...Reached the Autobots. Nothing of the sort with Jhiaxus, as far as I can see, but Lockdown is here and he’s making some negotiations. I’ll try and get some more information.”<<

Both Nightbird and Bomb Burst turned when Punch suddenly joined the rest of the Autobots

A small smirk crossed Bomb Burst's face plate, and, if her battle mask hadn't been on, an even bigger one crossed Nightbird's.

"Greeting's Punch." Nightbird said cooly after Punch had finished his conversation with Skyfall. "You Autobots are just plentiful around here, aren't you? I don't remember you being with the prisoners before, but then, it was pretty chaotic aboard the Semper Tyrannus... Oh... Right... You were uncover." She flipped both her sai into her hands since Punch had drawn a weapon to shoot at the Chaosteros.

Bomb Burst didn't bother drawing a weapon. Though his optics remained fixed on the Autobot newcomer.

For a long time Wheelie had lived on this very planet. Each day had been a nightmare. If he hadn't had his energon converter, he would have easily perished. He battled for his life against the lifeforms of LV-117 day in and day out, as they tried to kill him. He had killed many of them in order to live to see another cycle, but for what? Then, after what seemed like forever, he had been rescued by the Decepticons, only to find trouble again. For Wheelie, life was all about survival. Once upon a time he was created in the city of music, but all that carried over from his early life was his talent of rhyming. Now, he rhymed to bring some cheer into his life and those of his friends. It reminded him of his mother figure and a time long past, where the race of Cybertron was more or less at peace. Sometimes now though, in this modern era, he wondered why he should still keep rhyming. It seemed that there wouldn't be peace again until he died and joined the Allspark.

"Are we going to live after this, Skyfall?", Wheelie asked. The little Autobot felt weak. He could use some energon right now, though he needed repairs too. It had been so long since he had some sustenance. He realized all too well that the Decepticons sent them here to die. That made a slight smile rise on the minibot's face. It seemed fitting...to die....on a planet that had once been his home and his prison. They went from one prison to the next, and wasn't it also ironic that theyhad previously been trying to stop yet another prison from being destroyed?

"You know....friend or foe, it doesn't matter where yo go, what you do, who you are. We all have come so far. In the end, it doesn't really matter.", Wheelie said. His head whirled, and he groaned a bit, but he hardened himself and he jumped down from Skyfall's back. "If I die, at least I die with friends." The little bot was willing himself past sorrow as the loud roars and bangs pierced and distorted his hearing in the background. He was making his way to Fort Max, looking up at this bounty hunter who wore the Decepticon badge, a grizzly looking mech they called Lockdown. He didn't say anything to him but he looked up at him, narrowing his blue lit optics.

'At least if I die...I'll die an Autobot. Optimus Prime...what would you do? Primus...help us in our time of need.', he thought to himself, ending his thought in prayer.

The orange minibot looked at everyone gathered here, both friends and foes alike. Also....from the dust of battle, came another figure, who ended up being Punch. Skyfall adressed him with happiness in his voice. The Decepticons also adressed him, wondering where he had been on the ship. Then they said he had been undercover. Undercover? Wheelie looked to Punch, looking for answers. He didn't have to say anything for the yellow and blue bot to know what he wanted to know.

Then, Wheelie, bold little Wheelie, spoke up, stating something he really wanted to say,

"This is so stupid! Why can't we work together? Till are are one, you know? At this rate we'll all go under. Why is destruction so important to sew?! I want to live....helping each other, It's what we need to give!"

'Primus...', Wheelie thought. He turned off his optics and balled his hands into fists. 'if I die here, so be it.'

“We don't have to stay. I'd be happy to find shelter elsewhere,” Bomb-Burst had said.

“I'm sure Fortress Maximus shares your sentiment, boss.” Nightbird added. “But not sure how much moving around is wise. Menasor is… engaged with the Chaosteros and a new combiner showed up.”

"No need. You're not hunting me and I'm not hunting 'Cons. I suspect we can share the same vantage point for a little while without things devolving."

>>Fortress Maximus, this is Nosecone again.

>>"Good work Nosecone. Withdraw and head back to the mountain exterior. With Jhiaxus out here, we have no authorization to be in there. And we need to tread carefully."<<

The thought of needing "authorization" from Scorponok sickened him, but he was walking the thin line he needed to in order to keep them all alive.

That was about the time when Lockdown, the mech he had been informally negotiating with, decided to take matters further into his own hands. And just like that, he was gone.

"Nimble little crab apple, isn't he?" Max thought, as he watched Lockdown maneuver his way towards the brawling monsters.

LV-117 Surface

One massive blow after another gradually took its toll on the behemoth that Jhiaxus had created. One sword blow in particular set off an explosion that sent metal and gore spraying in all directions while the other mechanical monstrosity continued to rip away at the underbelly, searing its way past steel and cable and eventually finding flesh and sinew.

With a final, guttural roar, the creature finally toppled forward and crashed down against the beachhead.

Its final act of life--if it had not been stripped of that already--was to regurgitate a silver pod onto the sand.
___

The massive shark-like beast thrashed in the water under the surging electrical attack. But it was only when the chaosteros had toppled downward on the surface above that the cyber-organic shark's optics had darkened and it began to sink into the depths below.

Reflector continuously scanned everything around the battlefield.

And there it was. The colossal monstrosity fell under the assault of his combiners – ejecting a silver pod with a single life sign within as confirmed by Reflector through the Semper Tyrannis’ sensor array. Jhiaxus.

>>"Acknowledged."<<

His prize. His vengeance. Not Lockdown’s. Not Monstructor’s. His. Scorponok’s. Right now. Right here, it was the only thing that mattered.

”Now.” Scorponok gave the Horrorcons their que and launched himself into action, transforming into his spacesfighter form.

Cutting through the air and the acid rain with supersonic speed with the Horrorcons in tow, Scorponok made certain he was the first to arrive to the pod’s location. He could have had Reflector to orbital bounce the pod to him but this was far more satisfying. And ultimately far more personal than that. Trasforming back to his towering robot form in mid-air, Scorponok landed on the beachhead before the pod with enough force to create a large impact crater in the sand under his feet.

”You gave me a good chase Jhiaxus,” the warlord began as he reached down and grabbed hold of the pod with both of his claws, ”But you have only delayed the inevitable.”

With a sickening screech of metal, Scorponok put his immense strength into use and pulled the pod open – revealing its occupant who fell from the pod’s remains into the sand - face first.

Throwing away the remains of the pod, Scorponok scooped up the disoriented archaid scientist from the sand, securing him tightly in the crushing grip of his left claw. It was not enough to finish Jhaixus on the spot but easily enough to cripple him badly even if he were to escape with some kind of a trick. The sheer pain of the force he had subjected upon the ancient Cybertronian was nothing less than agonizing.

”Old, senile fool. You took advantage of my hospitality,” Scorponok snarled, his visor burning red in anger as his vice-grip tightening slowly around Jhiaxus’ buckling body, ”A mistake I will not repeat. No one crosses me and gets away with it!

”Not even you.”

"Hmm." Bludgeon said softly as he received Bomb Burst's news.

Certainly an interesting turn, he had suspected there was a spy in their midst, but not suspected the spy would be so easily found.

>>"Apprehend him."<<< He transmitted back to Bomb Burst. He was about to send a message to Scorponok regarding Punch, but it suddenly became an inopportune time. The monstor suddenly fell under the combiners attack and Scorponok was there reminding Jhaxius why one does not triffle with Scorponok.

This could wait until after they returned to the ship.

>>"Bugly, keep an optic on the cliff."<< He ordered. >>"If Bomb Burst finds himself in a bad situation with those Autobots, I want back up for him. It will probably be moot, however, just in case."<<

---

>>"Copy that."<< Bugly acknowledged.

--

"Scrap.." Carnivac muttered as the combiners ripped apart the Chaosteros. He certainly did not want to get in the bad side of those things.

---

"Scrap scrap scrap!" Iguanus was shouting as he was a little too close to the combiners as the Chaosteros fell. Transforming into his motorcycle mode, he dashed towards the mountain.

Hearing Bludgeon order Bugly to back up Bomb Burst, Iguanus cringed even more. Those two couldn't get along if their lives depended on it. >>"I'll head that way too, Boss."<< He commed over to Bludgeon. Receiving an affirmative he sped up the mountain the best he could under the conditions.

As the titanic creature fell, Cyclonus' scanners immediately locked onto Scorponok's position--a position that was in a state of flux itself as it made a beeline for whatever it was that had been jettisoned from the bowels of Jhiaxus' nightmare. Cyclonus had little doubt as to what that was--the primary target himself.

Arcing downwards and transforming just a few meters above the surface, Cyclonus landed with practiced ease and approached his much larger commander as he tore open the contents of the pod and confirmed Cyclonus' earlier suspicions. Dark skies and darker clouds still thundered overhead. The storm raged, sending even more sheets of acidic rain down than it had previously. It was like the planet itself hated having them here.

”You gave me a good chase Jhiaxus. But you have only delayed the inevitable.”

Jhiaxus did nothing in Scorponok's grip. What could he do, at this stage?

"All are one," the aged praetor muttered weakly.

”Old, senile fool. You took advantage of my hospitality. A mistake I will not repeat. No one crosses me and gets away with it! Not even you.”

"All are one....ALL are ONE.....all ARE one....ALL are one......"

Cyclonus scowled. What hung in Scorponok's grip seemed scarcely a shadow of the scientist who once stood in the company of Nova Prime. Was there anything left of that mech? Or had isolation and imprisonment defeated him more thoroughly than any physical punishment ever could. He supposed it didn't matter now.

And yet, he wondered...

Jhiaxus had lost it. This was the scientific mastermind that had crippled Scorponok and his soldiers on the verge of gaining the keys to a final victory over the Autobots? And for what? This? This was madness. The ancient wretch had lost his once brilliant mind to insanity.

"All are one....ALL are ONE.....all ARE one....ALL are one......"

Scorponok stared at the broken, feebleminded praetor with intense hatred apparent on his face. Jhiaxus was at his mercy again. Ending the scientist’s pathetic existence would be a simple matter of tightening his grip and yet – terminating Jhiaxus in his current state didn’t feel even remotely as satisfying as it should have. He had expected defiance. Perhaps even gloating. Whatever he had expected had not been this.

With an annoyed scowl on his face, Scorponok brought the tip of his right claw down before Jhiaxus’ face and with the flick of one of the claw’s two tip actuators – knocked the scientist unconscious.

”Pathetic.”

Disappointed, the massive warlord shook his head and turned his gaze upon his lieutenant whom had rendezvoused with him on the beachhead.

”There’s no point continuing this farce.” Scorponok spoke out while transmitting out a signal that would remotely activate the kill-switches hidden into all Terrorcons and Monstercons in order to break the combiners back to their component parts, ”Call off the attack Cyclonus and declare this planet a Decepticon domain. And do tell Fortress Maximus to stand down. We agreed to spare the Autobots’ lives were they to assist us but I do not recall us agreeing in anything else.”

Scorponok’s gaze turned to face the mountain, >>”Banzai-Tron! It is time we raid the mountain,”<< he continued, >>”Scavenge everything useful from Jhiaxus’ base and make sure nothing falls to wrong actuators.”<<

Activating his communicator, Scorponok sent out a signal to the fleet. >>”Reflector. The battle is over. Prepare a slow cell with life support. One prisoner. And while you are at it, send an evac team to surface. We have too many wounded down here.”<<

Turning towards the Horrorcons, Scorponok tossed Jhiaxus’ motionless body at Snapdragon. ”You two. Take him to Tyrannis. Reflector will have a cell ready. He is not worthy of a warrior’s death.”

”I leave Jhiaxus’ and Fortress Maximus’ fate for that matter - for Megatron to decide.”
